S aint and Vani have made up.
It’s a huge relief. Zane and I had been worried things were permanently broken between us, but we’re fixed, better than new. It reminds me of those vases where people use gold to mend the cracks, making them even stronger and more beautiful than they were before. Our relationship has blossomed into something new, more beautiful and solid.
More than a week has passed since everything went down with Angelica and her crew. We haven’t seen or heard from them or Jarl, which is exactly how we wanted it. The entire college feels lighter without their presence. The dean hasn’t said a word, and how could he? That fucker either didn’t know, which means he didn’t do his job right, or he did know, and covered it up because reputation is everything.
“We’re going to throw a party,” I tell Vani.
“What? Why?”
“Because we deserve one, but mainly because we want everyone at Verona Falls to know you’re ours, and we’re yours. We want to go public, and what better way of doing it than having a party?”
“It’ll be the best the college has ever seen,” Saint adds.
Zane nods in agreement.
“Who are you going to invite?” she asks, her doe eyes wide.
“Everyone.” He pauses and shrugs. “Well, maybe not quite everyone, but most of the students.”
I chuckle. “Definitely not the dean.”
“Wear your best dress,” Saint says. “And let’s show Verona Falls that the Vipers know how to party in style.”
She bites her lower lip. “But I don’t have a best dress.”
Saint tosses a gold Amex in her direction. “Get one, then. Most expensive one you can find. Shoes too,” he adds, “and fuck it, get a purse.”
She shakes her head. “I’m terrible at shopping. Most of what I wear I’ve bought online.”
“Treat yourself.” He leans in and kisses her. “You deserve it.”
Her pretty faces scrunches up. “When are we going to have the party?”
“Saturday night,” I announce.
Her jaw drops. “That’s tomorrow. I’ll never get a dress by then.”
Saint twists his lips as he thinks and then says, “We’ll find you some help.”
