Chapter 4
The four of them walked into the kitchen and saw Oz creating dinner.
“Perfect timing,” Mateo said.
“It is, and I’ve put the call out to the others,” Oz replied as people started walking into the kitchen.
“Oz, this looks amazing,” Ashton said, walking in with Paris. “Thanks for this.”
Oz laughed. “Just a little something I threw together.”
Just then, Atticus walked in and smiled as he spied Puff and Mateo. “How’re my amazing mates?”
Puff silently chuckled, and Mateo laughed.
“We all heard Puff call you that,” Oz added. He looked at Puff. “I’m sure you didn’t mean to send that via the pack link.”
Puff shook his head. No, it was supposed to be just to Tudor.
Mateo looked at Atticus. “Puff distracted me, and Battle managed to land a spinning kick to my chest,” he said, rubbing his chest.
Atticus walked closer. “Were you injured?”
“Only a little,” he said pathetically.
You should have seen our poor guardian; he fell to the floor dramatically. Puff told him, trying not to laugh
“Getting easily distracted,” Ash said, shaking his head at Mateo. “Wait until Martha finds out.”
“Frederick has already said he’s adding that to the training,” Gentzen told them, grinning.
Atticus touched Mateo’s arm. “Better luck next time.”
They were sitting at the table, and dishes were being passed around when Alex appeared.
Tudor saw him first and jumped up, hugging him. “Welcome back.”
Alex dipped his head and kissed Tudor hello. Pulling back, he looked at everyone. “Hey, friends.”
“Have you eaten?” Ash asked him.
Alex shook his head. “No, and I'm starving.”
“Then sit down and pile your plate up,” Tudor said, taking Alex’s hand and pulling him to the table.
Gentzen picked his plate up and moved to an empty seat so Alex could sit next to Tudor.
“Thanks,” Alex said to him, sitting down. “So what have I missed?”
“Blake Baylan and Maddy have gone off to your special place to have some quality time alone Puff and I are looking after everything and Frederick and Hades have gone to put guards around Tartarus to make sure Barnabus doesn’t try and release any demons.”
Alex touched his arm. “Breathe, my darling.”
“Barnabus is releasing demons?” Ash asked.
“We don’t know for sure. Tudor had the thought that Barnabus might release demons as he knows how to get in and out of Tartarus,” Gentzen replied.
“That was good thinking, Tudor,” Ares said, smiling at him.
Tudor nodded. “Thanks I had that thought as that is what I would do release as many demons as I could especially if I wanted to build an army.”
“It makes sense. I mean, I can’t see many overthrown pack members wanting to join the Hayes Pack. They would choose death, and that wouldn’t get Barnabus the army he needed for his war,” Dane added.
“Peyton and I are still contacting the smaller packs and lone shifters. We’re offering the lone shifters a safe place here,” Jason said.
“I’ve also had messages from our dragon guards, requesting accommodation for their families. So they should be starting to turn up as soon as they pack their houses up,” Paris told everyone.
It will be good to have the families here. Puff said.
“I’ve had the same request from our mated gargoyle guards.
Everyone is excited for their families to turn up,” Dane said.
“I also had a look online, and the farmer who owns the fields to the west of us is wanting to sell some of his land off. He is selling about ten thousand acres. I’ve put feelers out, and he seems open to sensible offers.
It might be worth looking at buying that land as well. ”
“That’s good thinking I think we should buy up as much land around here as we can especially with all the families that will be moving here thank you Dane.” Tudor said, smiling at his brother.
“I’ll get onto that later then.”
Offer as much as you want; I have enough to cover whatever the cost is, and the land can be put in all our names. Puff commented.
Dane nodded. “Will do.”
“I’ll help buy it as well and I’m sure Blake will too like we all did with the other land.” Tudor looked at Donavan. “Are you free after dinner so we can have king lessons?”
Donavan nodded and smiled. “I was wondering how long you could put your lessons off for.”
“Forever if I got my way,” Tudor muttered.
“Oz, do you know where Dask is?” Ash asked.
Oz nodded. “He is outside having a picnic with the children. Demi, Brook and Devon are with them. The triplets are understandably still upset and are having a bad day today. Devon thought a picnic and playing outside might help.”
Ash shook his head. “I never gave a thought to fated mates and mates dying before. To lose one parent is bad enough, especially by murder, but to lose their father days later is a lot for anyone to cope with.”
Paris took his hand. “But we can all be there to help the children however we can.”
Ash nodded. “We will be.”
