Epilogue

Barnabus was standing in the centre of the Hayes Pack. He was awaiting the arrival of the first lot of rogues, a mixed group of wolves and feline shifters. He shifted his feet and rubbed his chest, pain flooding his chest.

“This was a good idea of yours,” he said to Pete.

Pete looked at him in concern before replying, “Have you had many rogues reply?”

“Not as many as I thought, but a fair few. It will be good to have different shifters here.”

Pete nodded. “That is something Alpha Tom would never have done. He thought wolf packs should stay just wolf packs.”

“Outdated thinking.”

Pete nodded again. “It was, especially now. I’ve had refreshments put in the lounge and two wolves are stationed inside to help serve them.

They stopped talking when three cars pulled up, parking just down from the pack house.

Barnabus watched seven men and two women get out and walk over to them.

As they came forward, Barnabus looked them over. The wolves were strong; even the female wolf was stronger than Pete. But it was the feline shifters that Barnabus was currently interested in. There were four of them, three lions and a tiger. The power radiating from the lions alone was astounding.

They all stopped in front of him.

“Barnabus?” one of the lions asked.

“I am. Are you Rick Hollybrook?”

The man nodded. “I am. These are my brothers, Roy and Liam. The tiger is Mel Prior. The wolves are Barry, Norm, Kaz and Neal Scoles.”

“This is Pete, my Beta. Come on into the pack house, and we can talk. I’ve had refreshments prepared.”

He turned to move, but the rogues didn’t follow. He turned back and looked at them, noticing they were suddenly surrounding him. “What is the meaning of this?” he demanded.

“You’re injured,” Rick stated. “What happened?”

“I took a sword to the chest, what of it?”

Rick stepped forward. “Then you’re of no use to us.”

Quick as anything, the rogues shifted and jumped the demon, ripping into him.

The Hayes Pack watched. Pete moved out of the way. No one made a move to help Barnabus as the rogues tore into him.

Rick shifted back first and grinned at the pack. “Looks like I’m your Alpha now. Now to really get this war started.”
