chapter 4
They walked through the gathered doctors and nurses and immediately saw me kneeling in front of Vincent.
Ryan quickly helped me up. But the moment he touched me, my hair stood on end.
The surrounding doctors explained Vincent's request to stop the surgery.
Ryan angrily rushed forward and grabbed Vincent by the collar.
However, Vincent shifted his body and pushed Ryan toward Emma's open incision.
"Ryan, don't look!" I screamed hoarsely.
I wanted to push him away and see what was going on.
But it was too late, Ryan still saw it.
In an instant, his eyes, which had just been red with anger, suddenly turned cold.
He stood dejectedly in front of the operating table, side by side with Vincent on either side, blocking me from approaching.
I tugged at the hem of Ryan's surgical gown and tentatively asked him about Emma's condition.
The next second, he glared at me fiercely and pushed me far away. "Mom, that's enough! Dad said no to this surgery, so no! We are Emma's family, and we have the right to refuse the surgery!"
The familiar sense of despair washed over me again.
I panicked and hurriedly grabbed the nearby doctors, pleading, "Please save Emma. It's just a minor surgery, it will be over soon. Don't I have the right to decide whether the surgery can be done?"
The scene fell silent.
Seeing the doctors gradually leaving, I quickly grabbed Ryan, begging him to save Emma.
But before I could speak, he grabbed the surgical scissors nearby and aimed them at Emma's bare body.
At that moment, Ethan rushed over and shielded Emma with his body.
Just like in the previous life, his arm was stabbed, bleeding profusely.
His veins bulged as he roared to the sky, "Are you all crazy? Emma is your family!"
But when he saw Emma's open abdominal cavity, he fell silent instantly.
One second Ethan was worried about Emma, the next he changed instantly, even showing a murderous intent in his eyes.
I completely broke down.
He turned pale, forcing a bitter smile to comfort me. "It's okay, you go out first. I'll perform surgery on Emma. It will be over soon."
He seemed to be comforting me, but his eyes kept flickering, and even his voice changed.
He was pretending.
I panicked and shook my head frantically. "No, I don't want you to operate on her. I want another doctor!"
Vincent finally lost his patience and yelled at me, "Enough! The three of us are the closest to Emma and experts in liver disease. Who else do you want to find?"
The doctors watching silently turned their backs upon hearing this.
Just as the three of them were about to start stitching, Arthur appeared.
I clung to him like a lifeline, dropping to my knees in front of him. "Dr. Finch, they said the surgery can't be done and want to kill Emma!"
Arthur looked at me suspiciously, then glanced at the three in front of him.
Ethan quickly explained, "Dr. Finch, I'm Emma's husband, and this is her father. As her family, we've unanimously decided not to operate on her now and to discharge her."
Arthur helped me up, his expression sharp. "Emma's vital signs are stable, and all indicators meet the surgical criteria. Why was the surgery suddenly stopped halfway?"
Ryan and Ethan looked at me with indifference, while Vincent continued stitching on his own, completely unfazed.
I grabbed Arthur's hand and walked toward the operating table. "I want to see Emma's abdominal cavity."
"Each of them changed their expression instantly after seeing Emma's abdominal cavity and wanted to kill her.
"The truth must be inside Emma's body."
Under Arthur's piercing gaze, Vincent reluctantly stepped aside.
But when I saw Emma's opened abdominal cavity, I finally understood why they wanted to stop the surgery and even kill her.
