32. I couldnt lose her

Adrian's POV:

The police had taken Vanessa away.

She had finally been arrested.

But right now, none of us cared about that.

The real problem was Sophia.

She was completely drenched from head to toe. Her clothes were soaked, her hair was dripping with icy water, and she was shivering uncontrollably. Yet she kept insisting that she would come to the hospital with us because Lily was burning with fever.

Everyone kept trying to convince her.

"Sophia, please. Go home first and change."

But she refused every single time.

"No. I won't leave Lily alone."

With that, she started walking back towards our cars, crossing the narrow lane again. She reached my car and looked at me anxiously.

"Adrian, hurry up. Lily is sick."

Before I could answer, June gently caught hold of her arm.

"Adrian and Evan will take Lily to the hospital. You first come home with me and change."

Sophia immediately looked at June before turning towards me.

"No. I won't leave Lily alone with him."

A sharp wave of guilt washed over me.

I knew exactly why she said that.

For the first time, she no longer trusted me with our daughter.

I took a deep breath.

"No, Sophia. Don't worry. I won't leave Lily's side even for a second."

But she simply shook her head.

"No... I also won't leave Lily alone."

June turned her around to face her.

"Sophia, don't act childish. You'll fall sick. Look at yourself-you are shivering, your teeth are chattering, and your lips have turned blue. Think about it. When Lily is sick, she'll need her mother. What if you fall ill too?"

Before Sophia could reply, another voice interrupted.

"Sophia."

We all turned.

Oliver came jogging towards us with a sports bag slung over his shoulder.

He stopped in front of us and held the bag out to her.

"Sophia... , I came here to play football," he said, pointing at the winter football jersey he was still wearing. "So I always keep an extra pair of clean clothes in my bag for after practice. They're fresh. You can wear them."

Sophia looked at him in confusion.

Oliver then added.

"There's a clean towel inside as well. You can change into them."

Sophia slowly accepted the bag.

She looked around, searching for a place to change.

June noticed immediately.

"You can change in my car."

Sophia suddenly patted her forehead.

"Oh yeah."

Despite everything that had happened, despite the fear, the tears and the panic...

That tiny gesture made her look unbelievably adorable.

I found myself staring at her for a second.

Before leaving, she looked at me.

"Adrian... you can take Lily now. We'll follow you in June's car."

Then she turned towards Oliver.

"Thank you again, Oliver. Nowadays you always come as my saviour."

Oliver smiled warmly.

"That's what friends do, Sophia."

She returned a small smile before leaving with June to change inside the car.

I looked at Oliver.

"Thank you."

He simply nodded.

"I'll come to the hospital too. I'll follow in my own car."

I nodded in return.

Soon, Evan started the car.

He was driving while I sat beside him in the passenger seat, carefully holding Lily in my arms.

For a while, neither of us spoke.

Then suddenly Evan broke the silence.

"Is this Oliver... close to Sophia?"

To be honest, I had never even tried to know that side of Sophia's life.

I had never cared enough.

"I don't know," I replied quietly. "But... he was in our college. Sophia did a project with him once."

Evan gave a slow nod.

"I think he likes her."

I immediately turned towards him, irritation flashing across my face.

"You focus on driving... not on all this."

He fell silent.

But his words refused to leave my mind.

Did he really like her?

The way Sophia had thanked him...

The way he had silently helped her...

The way she had smiled at him...

For a moment, jealousy crept into my heart.

Then reality struck me.

Why would Sophia ever smile at me like that?

I had cheated on her.

I had betrayed her trust.

I had broken her heart over and over again.

And now...

Karma had finally caught up with me.

I had lost the very person who had spent five years loving me unconditionally.

I slowly looked down at Lily sleeping in my arms.

No.

This wasn't the time to drown in regret.

I had to bring my family back together.

I had to earn Sophia's forgiveness.

No matter how impossible it seemed...

I couldn't lose her.

Not now.

Not forever.

Next update tomorrow trust me this time I will do a long one . I got caught up in a work today??

Btw Adrian is getting jealous. ??
