21. Gigi

CHAPTER 21

Gigi

“Uh, what the fuck, guys?” I hear a masculine voice somewhere.

“Holy crap.” I think that’s Zoey’s voice because the giggles that follow are familiar. I’ve heard it a million times before.

I slowly open my eyes, but it doesn’t take long before they widen, doubling in size. Luke is next to me, still softly snoring. His arm is draped along the width of my waist and our legs are tangled together. His skin is burning and there are beads of sweat running down the side of his face. It takes a second for me to register what happened last night. Luke told me a story about Serena, Luke starting to puke, me telling Luke to just stay here with me.

“Earth to Gigi!” My best friend’s voice rings loud in my right ear again.

I look over Luke’s head next to mine and sure enough, both of our friends are standing in the middle of the room. Kai has a shit-eating grin on his face and Zoey is giving me a what the hell happened in here look.

Luke’s leg jerks just as I am propping myself up on my elbows. Zoey’s mouth gapes when Luke tightens his hold on me. “Let’s sleep a little longer, Gi.”

Laughing nervously, I poke his arm with my index finger. “Luke.” No answer, so I call out his name again, louder this time. “Luke.”

“What?” he asks in a raspy voice, his eyes still closed.

“We’ve got company.”

A moment later, he must register what I’m trying to say, because his honey eyes open, panic filing them. He stiffens before turning his head to the bedroom door.

“Wakey, wakey, Lukey,” Kai teases.

“Well, shit.” Luke scrubs his face with his palm.

The four of us just stare at each other in silence, not knowing what to say. That is until Malakai breaks out in laughter so loud it echoes through the halls of the house. “So this is a thing, huh?”

In typical Luke fashion, he doesn’t say anything to that, keeping his poker face on. Is he waiting for me to say something?

“It’s not a big deal.” I shrug, offering Luke an out. I instigated, I should be the one taking care of the mess. “People do it all the time. You two do it all the time.”

“Not with my brother I don’t,” Zoey chimes in, barely keeping a straight face as she bites her lips to keep her from laughing. “So, just so we’re clear on what’s not a big deal. You two banged, right?

Luke groans next to me. “She’s not my sister.” He doesn’t dignify her question with an answer, but they know. I know they know.

“And that’s not the problem, either,” I blurt out before stopping myself. When the three of them turn to me for an explanation, I swallow it down and save myself by saying, “We were drunk. Now pick your jaws up from the floor and let’s go down and have breakfast. That’s why you two are here, no?”

The problem is the person no one talks about anymore. Luke reminds me of him just like I remind Luke of him. Is that why I wanted to sleep with Luke? Is that why he fucked me? My head hurts spinning in circles. I had sex with a Palmer. Just not the one that I was supposed to .
