Chapter 36

Chapter Thirty-Six

Steven

Ashton threw me the keys to the rental car. “You drive. I’ll sit in the back with Kai.”

“Okay.” Worry pulled inside of me. There was something off about Kai, but I couldn’t quite figure it out.

He sat in the back with her as she curled into him, still whimpering.

“It’s okay, Starshine.” I set the navigation on my phone, and I saw that Ashton had texted me.

He was in the backseat. Why did he text me?

Ashton

I think Kai might be going into heat.

What? But omegas did have heats every few months. It would make sense. Though Ashton said that she was on suppressants–he’d mentioned the conversation they had about us being her partners over the off-season.

Wait. Could finding your match cause a breakthrough heat?

Shit. Hopefully the hotel was equipped for a heat. It was a nice hotel so the odds that they had a heat suite or something of that nature were pretty high.

In the backseat Kai kissed Ashton like she was starving.

Yeah, we were going to rack up the frequent flyer miles, weren’t we?

Her lemon candy scent and his woodsy one, along with their need and desire, filled the car, making my cock strain against my pants.

We got to the resort. It had a beautiful view of the ocean, but didn’t look like it had much beach, but that’s not why we were here.

We should take a fun vacation with Kai somewhere with good surfing to make up for Bali.

I pulled up to the valet and popped the trunk. “Checking in.”

I nodded.

“I’ve got you.” Ashton picked up Kai, backpack and all. I got our small bags. We actually hadn’t gone straight from the arena to the airport. We’d stopped, changed and had gotten a few things.

After the valet gave me our ticket, I went straight to the front desk.

“I know we’re really early, but this is kind of an emergency. I’ll take any room you have and even pay for an upgrade.” I got out my ID and my card. “Here’s my confirmation number.” I looked over at the two of them as Kai whimpered again.

Every little whine tore at my heart.

“I’ll see what I can do,” the person at the desk said typing away, giving Kai and Ashton a look.

“If you have a heat suite or something like that, we’ll take it. I don’t know what your policies are,” I added quietly.

“I have you down for two?” She looked up at me.

“Yeah, we came to see her. We weren’t expecting her to go into heat,” I babbled, not really knowing why I was telling this person our business.

At the same time, it was probably important for them to know, especially since I’d probably have to pay a higher security deposit for possible de-scenting, if they didn’t just automatically charge a de-scenting fee.

“How long? Five days? A week?” She kept typing.

How long were heats?

“Um, I think we’ll just take it for the whole week. Actually, make it to next Sunday. Just for safety.” Management would understand if we had to reschedule our exit meetings. Right?

“You said you’ll take anything? I have a private villa that you can have now. If you give us a few minutes, we’ll get it stocked for you. Do you have preferences?” she told me.

“Stocked with what?” I gave her a blank look. “Um, I don’t know what I’m doing.”

“I’ve got you. Food allergies?” she asked.

“Walnuts. Ash doesn't like bananas,” I replied. “She likes purple. No feather pillows. Robes if you have them?” What other preferences did they need? “Um, beer and nice red wine?”

“Noted. When everything’s over, you can call us for a room refresh and a post-heat dinner, which is included in the package.

Though room service and housekeeping will deliver if you call and put it in the containers on the porch.

You might want to see if you can get everyone to eat something,” she added.

“If you go to the restaurant, you can get something quick while we get everything ready. Here are your keys. We’ll bring your bags, too. ”

“Thanks.” I took the keys and my document, and she showed me on a map where we were.

I went over to the two of them. They were sitting on a couch, Kai just laying on him.

“Let’s get some soup?” I offered. “Want to sit outside and I’ll bring you some? It might be good to eat something?”

“That’s a good idea.” Ashton picked her up and took her outside.

Me

I got us a villa for the week. They’re stocking it for a heat. Figured we might want some food first.

Ashton

Good idea. Get me a burger or club sandwich. Thank you.

I went to the quick service counter at the restaurant. The only soup they had was something I’d never heard of, but it would work. It was noodley and had green onions and some kind of swirly white and pink slices. It kinda looked like ramen.

I got burgers for Ashton and me, and drinks for everyone.

“Here you go, Starshine.” I found them sitting at a table with an umbrella and a nice view. She was on his lap.

“Ooh, you got me saimin?” Kai perked as I put the tray on the table.

“I got you both hot jasmine tea, too, and some lemonade mixed with lemon-lime soda. My grandma always gave that to us when we were sick.” I put everything in front of her.

Kai took a sip. “I like it.”

“Here’s food for you.” I gave Ashton his burger, then sat down with them to eat mine.

“Thank you.” Ashton gave me a kiss. “Eat some soup for me, Starshine?”

“Okay.” Kai took a bite of soup. “Not bad. There’s a place I want to take you to if we have time.”

“That sounds perfect.” I took a bite of the burger. I was hungry. Yeah, this was a good idea.

We made quick work of our food. Even Kai ate a lot of her soup without prodding–and a bunch of my fries. Good.

“Let’s find our room? It should be ready now?” I suggested after we finished. Following the map, we crossed the beautiful grounds.

Kai stopped and tugged on Ashton’s flannel. “Can I have a ride?”

“Always.” Ashton bent down and she climbed on his back. We passed an amazing looking pool area, and found a section with standalone little cottages, all with patios, hot tubs, and barbecues.

“This is your hotel room?” Kai, still on Ashton’s back, eyed the little one-story cottage.

I checked the number. “Yep. Do you approve? It’s what they had at the last minute.”

On the porch were two wicker hampers, one said ‘clean’ and the other ‘dirty.’ On the other side of the door were two small coolers, one red and one blue, which said ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ respectively.

Opening the door, we went inside, Kai took off her shoes. The kitchen and living room were open floor plan. There was a bottle of wine and a basket of treats on the counter. There were also several door hangers, one said “heat in progress, do not disturb” another said “please refresh the room.”

A piece of paper held all sorts of information like how to get clean linens and order food.

The kitchen was full service and there was a fancy coffee pot, and an electric kettle on the counter. I was holding Kai’s flowers, so I found a pitcher and put them in water.

“Look at all the blankets,” Kai called.

She and Ashton weren’t in the living room. They were in the spacious bedroom, with a giant bed—one much bigger than ours. Next to it was a shelf full of blankets and pillows in plastic. The room had a couch, a mini fridge, and a small table.

The wall had a panel controlling the lighting, temperature, and even music. I played with it, while Kai started piling the bed with blankets and pillows, Ashton picking up the plastic wrappers and throwing them away.

The mini fridge held waters, sports drinks, and easy to eat foods. The basket on the table contained all sorts of comfort and pleasure items.

In the bathroom were soft robes, fluffy towels, slippers, and a variety of pampering products. The bathtub was huge, and the shower could fit a pack comfortably.

While I still wasn’t sure what we needed for a heat, this looked pretty well prepared.

Ashton put his arm around me as Kai busily arranged pillows and blankets on the bed, adjusted the lighting, and closed the curtains.

“This is really nice.” Ashton looked around.

“I got it until next Sunday. They stocked it for a heat. More instructions are in the kitchen. We should bring up her heat to her, right, get consent before she’s gone?” I asked. “I don’t think she knows what’s happening.”

“That’s a good idea. I’m pretty sure it’s coming very soon.” Ashton looked at me. “Are you okay with this?”

“Why wouldn’t I be? She’s your scent match, but I love her, too. If she needs us, she needs us.” I watched as Kai piled more pillows on the bed.

“I’m glad we got Kai to eat. I think we’re at some sort of plateau, like our showing up made it stop a little. But it’s coming. I can feel it,” Ashton added.

“I don’t know what to do. I’ve never been part of a heat. I don’t even have any omega sisters,” I replied.

Ashton gave me a squeeze. “All we need to do is make sure Kai’s happy.”

“Which means knots, right?” I nodded. “I can do that.”

“I love how there’s a whole library of blankets,” Kai mused, selecting more.

Ashton kissed me. “We’ve got this.”

Finally, Kai fell backwards on the bed, face blissful. “Perfect.”

“Is it?” Taking off my shoes, I dive bombed the bed.

“Steven,” Kai laughed.

Ashton joined us and the two of us cuddled her on the mattress among all the blankets and pillows. She nestled into us.

“I’m going to take that nap now. Maybe take a bath later.” Her body was still warm. “Oh, I should let Auntie know I’m with you.”

“Yes, you should. We don’t need her hunting you down. Also, Starshine, I think you might be going into heat. Would you be okay spending it here with us?” Ashton asked tentatively, smoothing her hair.

Kai was on her phone and shot him a look, eyebrows raising. “I’m not going into heat. I’m on suppressants. I’m just a little sick.”

“Okay. But if you do… say because somehow finding your scent match caused a breakthrough heat even though you’re on suppressants, would you be okay with us? Is there anything you’d like or not like?” Ashton asked.

“I like the way you smell right now.” Kai buried her face in my neck. “I think I would like to spend my heat with you this summer. I like spicy sandwiches.”

“Me, too,” I agreed. “What do you do for birth control during your heats?”

“Oh, I have an implant. I know a lot of omegas don’t bother, because you don’t often get pregnant outside of heats. But because mine are irregular and I don’t need a dorm baby, I have one,” Kai explained, returning to texting.

Well, that was good to know.

“Okay. I texted Auntie. I also let my professor know I won’t be in class today or able to do research tomorrow, in case I’m still sick,” Kai said.

That gave us a couple of days.

“How long can you stay?” Kai laid her head on Ashton who was on his phone.

“As long as you need,” I assured.

“Forever?” Kai giggled.

I kissed her temple. “You can have us all off-season if you want.”

“Okay.” Kai nodded aggressively.

“Even after the off-season, too. We’re yours forever if you want us,” Ashton added.

“No take backs.” Kai gave us a smug look.

“No take backs,” I agreed, happiness shooting through me. “We’ll figure everything out. There might be a lot of planes in our future. But we’ll do it.”

Kai thought for a moment. “Promise?”

“We promise.” Ashton looked very happy.

Kai tugged on my arm, pulling me toward her.

“Oh, you want to be smooshed, do you?” I lay on top of her, squishing her into Ashton.

Kai made a happy squeak. “Perfect.”

“I let Coach know in case we need to reschedule any end-of-season meetings,” Ashton said softly.

“Great.” I kissed Kai’s forehead. Still warm. Her scent was very sweet. “You smell so good, Starshine.” My dick was hard just getting a good whiff of her.

“I’m tired.” She whined a little.

“Then sleep. We’re right here.” Ashton wrapped his arms around the both of us.

Yes, we were. Kai might not think she was in heat, but now I knew what Ashton meant when he said he felt it coming.

Because I felt it, too.

I snuggled into her, feeling sleepy. It had been a big few days. I might as well get some sleep, too, while we had the chance.
