Chapter Thirteen – Harper

Harper

“Hello to you, too, Sean,” Declan said as he turned and took a few steps away from me. I couldn’t hear what Sean was saying, but it was clear from how loud he was talking, he wasn’t happy.

Deciding to give Declan some space, I headed back into the house and downstairs to grab my own phone. I’d had it on silent since we got to The Muddled Moose. Pulling it out of my purse, I saw I had three missed calls and four texts. All from Sean.

“Well, looks like Maddie did talk to you.”

Pushing the phone into my back pocket, I opened the fridge and got out two bottles of beer. I had a feeling the wine wasn’t going to cut it after Declan got off the phone with his brother.

By the time I got back to the roof, Declan was leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. He was still on the phone.

“Sean, this isn’t a me problem; this is a you problem. You had the stupid idea of asking Harper to fake-date you. She decided she was done with it, she gave you the opportunity to make it right, and you didn’t. We ran into Mom, and neither of us was going to lie.”

I screwed up my face as I walked to Declan and handed him the beer. He mouthed thank you .

“I’m with Harper now, yes. No, you can’t. No. I doubt it.” He sighed. “Let me ask her. Harp?” When I glanced up at my name, Declan asked, “Sean wants to know if he can come up and talk to us.”

“There’s nothing to talk about.”

“Did ya hear that? What happened?”

I watched as Declan struggled to keep from laughing. “That would be…traumatizing. No, I’m not laughing.”

A small chuckle slipped from me as I watched Declan struggle to contain his laughter. “Maybe take the key back, or put on the safety chain,” he said with a laugh.

I couldn’t help but frown. Maybe we should let Sean come up and talk. I was curious why Declan was trying so hard to keep from laughing.

“Again, that’s on you, Sean. You’d never see that happening with me because she’d never have a key to my place. How is this my fault?”

I heard Sean yelling but couldn’t make out any words.

Finally, Declan had had enough. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow, Sean. Then make an appointment with a therapist!”

He pulled his phone away from his ear and jabbed it so hard with his finger, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Makes you wish it was the olden days when you could slam the phone down on the person.”

Declan slowly shook his head. “He’s pissed. He’s actually mad at us for outing him before he had a chance to do it himself.”

“I take it your mom got a hold of him.”

A slow smile spread across his face before he took a drink of his beer. I leaned back on the sofa and popped some cashews into my mouth as I waited for him to speak.

Sitting across from me, he surveyed the tray. Picking up a carrot, he swiped it through the hummus. Luckily, he answered me before popping it into his mouth. “Oh, she more than got a hold of him. She stopped by his place.”

I covered my mouth to hide the giggle.

“It gets better. He had a girl with him.”

I gasped and leaned forward, my mouth gaping. “Who?”

“One guess.”

Tapping my finger on my chin, I thought for a moment. “Well, the plot twist would be Crystal, but I don’t see that happening.”

“Nope, not her.”

I sighed. “As much as I want to junk-punch, Sean, I still hope it was Caroline.”

Declan’s smile turned into a grin. “Yep. It was her—and they were doing some stuff on the sofa when Mom decided to use the house key Sean had given her to let herself in.”

“No! Oh my God!”

Tossing his head back and laughing hysterically, Declan nodded.

I couldn’t keep myself from joining in. “She walked in on Sean and Caroline?”

Declan wiped at a tear. “It. Gets. Better.”

Stunned, I asked, “How does that get better?”

Declan was now laughing so hard he could hardly breathe. Which, of course, meant I was laughing just as hard. Once we both got ourselves under control, Declan stood.

“Whoa, man, I must have needed that laugh.”

“Obviously. But tell me how it got better.”

He laughed again but managed to keep himself in check. Clearing his throat, he tried to keep a straight face. “Well, I guess Caroline is into some…stuff.”

Frowning, I asked, “What kind of stuff?”

Declan laughed again but quickly recovered. “She had…she had Sean tied up—and she was spanking him!”

It took five seconds to let Declan’s words sink in. “I’m sorry…what did you say?” I asked with a choked laugh, as Declan lost it again. “Did you say she had him tied up?”

He nodded.

“And she was spanking him?”

Another nod and wipe of tears. “It gets better again!”

Stunned, I asked, “How is that possible?”

His laughing was out of control, and man, was it infectious. I couldn’t stop laughing with him.

“She was…she was…!”

“She was what, Declan?” I cried out, as I reached out and hit his leg, trying to get him to stop laughing so he could speak.

“She was using a pink pickleball paddle. My mother’s …pink…pickleball…paddle!”

I stared at Declan as he flopped onto the couch and doubled over with laughter. How had he not lost it on the phone with that bit of information?

“My mother…my mother…” He was speaking between gasps of breath. “Said she’d never be able…to play…pickleball again!”

Now we were both in a fit of laughter. My stomach hurt and I could hardly breathe. Finally, after what felt like forever, we calmed down. I wiped the tears from my face and took a few deep breaths. Declan did the same.

“Whew,” he said, trying not to lose it again. “That is the funniest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Wait, I have a question.”

Declan looked at me with wide eyes. “You have just one question? I have like twenty.”

I chuckled. “What was Sean doing with your mom’s pickleball racket?”

He lost it laughing again, and I had to wait for him to calm down. With a shake of his head, he replied, “I don’t know.”

I popped a piece of cheese into my mouth and reached for my beer again. It was a new moon, so the sky was pitch black, and I could see the stars clearly. I drew in a deep breath and slowly let it out. “Wow. It’s a beautiful night tonight.”

Declan, who’d finally stopped laughing, looked up. “Yeah, it is.”

I wasn’t sure where my brazenness came from, but I said, “We could make a little bed out here if you wanted to sleep under the stars?”

Declan dropped his gaze and met mine. “You know what sounds better?”

“What?” I asked, as my heartbeat picked up in rhythm.

“If we make love for the first time under the stars.”

I bit down on my lower lip. “I like that idea much better.”

Declan stood, and I followed. He reached for my hand, drawing me to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and was soon lost in the most beautiful, tender, toe-curling kiss I’d ever experienced.

When he broke away, he placed kisses along my jaw and down my neck.

“I want to make love to you, Harper.”

I felt my eyes flutter shut as I whispered, “Yes. I would like that.”

Declan’s hands moved down my arms, and goosebumps erupted over my entire body. He lifted my shirt and pulled it over my head, instantly kissing me when it cleared my head and fell to the floor.

My hands slipped under his shirt, and the feel of his muscles moving under my touch caused me to moan.

His mouth moved down to my neck and to my ear. “Should we go slow?”

My breath caught in my throat, and I shook my head.

“Words, Harper. I need you to tell me what you want.”

Dropping my head back, another low moan slipped free as he kissed along my neck and cupped my breast with his hand.

Opening my mouth, I tried to speak but nothing would come out but a small noise. Declan stopped kissing me and I attempted to focus on his handsome face.

Smiling, he asked, “Well?”

I held onto his arms. “I can’t…speak when…you’re…kissing me like that.”

Suddenly, Declan was gone and I fought to stand upright.

When my eyes met his, a rush of warmth raced through my body. I bit down on my lower lip, and I swore Declan growled.

“Do you want it slow or fast, Harp?”

My body was so wound up, I could feel the desire wetting my panties. Licking my lips, I whispered, “Fast.”

A slow smile spread over his face as he reached for my hand and pulled me to him. I gasped when I felt his erection push into my stomach. Cupping my face, he devoured my mouth with his in a kiss that was filled with passion and lust like I’d never experienced before.

“Can anyone see us up here?” he whispered against my mouth.

“I…I don’t know.”

The idea of anyone seeing us almost made me orgasm on the spot. What in the hell was happening to me?

“How do we turn off all these lights, Harp?”

My body felt like jelly, and all I wanted was for Declan to touch me. Anywhere.

“I don’t care if anyone can see us, Declan. I want you. Now.”

He glanced around then walked over to the other side of the roof. He reached down and unplugged the lights that were strung across the roof. It took me a moment to adjust to the darkness.

“As much as I want you right now, I really don’t want anyone looking at you while I fuck you.”

I sucked in a breath, but before I could respond, Declan fell to his knees in front of me and started to unbutton my jeans. My breathing increased, and I tried to concentrate on slowing it down before I passed the hell out.

Kicking off my shoes, I let Declan slide my pants off, one leg at a time. He sat back on his heels and stared at me. I was left in only my panties and a bra. He licked his lips, and I fought the urge to press my legs together.

“So fucking beautiful,” he whispered before he buried his face in my panties and drew in a deep breath. My hands laced through his hair as my mind went to all kinds of places.

When I felt him lick my panties, I moaned his name.

“I want to taste you, Harp.”

Snapping my head down, I stared at him with what I was sure was a surprised expression.

“Do you not like that?”

I shrugged. “I’ve never…done that before.”

His brows slammed down. “How did you stay with my stupid brother for so long?”

A nervous laugh slipped free. “Well, I think we were better friends than anything. Our sex life was…not so hot.”

He closed his eyes. “I don’t want to think about him touching you. When I’m finished with you tonight, you won’t remember any other man’s touch.”

I nodded. “Oh-okay.”

He reached up and started to slide my panties off. I stepped out of them and fought the urge to cover myself up. It wasn’t that I wasn’t proud of my body, I was. I worked my ass off to have this body, but a small part of me saw that younger version of myself, overweight and sitting alone in the corner.

“Sit down on the sofa.”

Declan’s voice pulled me from my thoughts, and I did as he said. He knelt down in front of me and spread my legs open. He smiled as his hands moved up my thighs and to my breasts. Next, he reached behind me and unclasped my bra, letting it fall down my arms. Leaning in, he took one of my nipples into his mouth and gently sucked. The other nipple was being squeezed by his fingers, and I couldn’t tell which I liked better.

Would it be possible to have an orgasm from this? Yes, yes, it would.

His mouth was suddenly gone and I lazily opened my eyes.

Then, he was there. Between my legs doing things with his mouth that I had only ever dreamed off. My fingers dug into his short hair, and I pulled his face closer. I needed more.

Then, my entire world turned upside down when my orgasm quickly built and threw me over the cliff. I slapped my hand over my mouth to keep from screaming out in pleasure. When I couldn’t take anymore, I frantically pushed Declan away.

“Stop, I can’t take it anymore.”

With a wicked smile on his face, he moved me so I was lying on the sofa.

“Protection?” he asked.

Jesus, at least one of us was thinking.

“Um…I’m on the pill. I’ve never had sex without a condom.”

“Me either.”

“I don’t have any condoms.”

He smiled. “Me either.”

I raised my brows.

“It’s your call, Harp.”

Wrapping my legs around his waist, I pulled him down to me.

“I’m not going to last long being inside of you without a condom.”

Smiling, I said, “I guess it’s a good thing I came already.”

He pushed against me and I jumped. “Now, Declan. Please.”

His eyes met mine and he slowly pushed inside of me. I tried not to flinch or make a face, but it had been a very long time since I’d had sex. I swore the last six months or so of my relationship with Sean, we hardly even kissed, let alone had sex.

“You’re so tight,” he groaned as he buried his face into my neck.

“It’s been a while and you aren’t exactly small, sir.”

He chuckled and pushed in harder, causing me to let out a small yelp.

“You okay?”

I nodded. “Give me a second.”

He stayed perfectly still as my body adjusted to his inside of me. Once the slight sting wore off, I dug my heels into his lower back. “Move, Declan, please move.”

He started off slow, almost too slow. Then, as if he couldn’t control himself, he sped up. It felt glorious.

“Yes! Faster! Harder!”

I would have never uttered those words with…

No, I wasn’t going to compare Declan with any other man. No one had ever made me feel this good. This sexy.

“Fuck, Harp. You feel so good,” he said before covering my mouth with his. Our tongues moved against each other in a sloppy, yet utterly sexy way. I could feel the buildup once again. I’d only had a small handful of orgasms while having sex, and it was usually because I touched myself. But this…the way Declan moved inside of me was glorious.

“I’m…I’m going to come, Declan.”

“That’s it, baby. Come for me.”

His words did the trick, and I cried out his name before he kissed me once again. His own movements became erratic, and he moaned as he pumped in harder, finally coming to a stop and resting his forehead to mine.

Long, deep breaths came from both of us as we laid under the stars in each other’s arms.

“That was amazing,” Declan whispered.

“It was fucking amazing.”

He laughed and I turned to look at him, both of us now on our backs, dragging in breaths. “I’ve never felt so good in my entire life.”

His head dropped to the side. “Me either, Harp. That was beyond words.”

“Now, let’s just hope we don’t end up in the newspaper under Moose Happenings. Couple has hot sex on rooftop.”

Declan chuckled. “Might be hard to explain that one to your dad!”

I covered my face. “Oh God! Don’t bring up my dad as we’re lying here naked!”

Laughing, he rolled over me and smiled. “Ready for slow?”

My brows lifted. “Are you ready? That fast?”

He pushed into my thigh. “I’m more than ready.”

The sound of birds singing caused me to open my eyes to an endless blue sky. It was beautiful. I reached my hands above my head and stretched, feeling the delicious aches in my body from last night.

When I rolled to my side, I frowned. The spot where Declan had been was now empty. I flopped to my back and stared up at the sky. Had he left while I was still sleeping? Would he leave without saying goodbye? Sneak away before he had to talk to me this morning? That didn’t seem like something Declan would do.

Sitting up, I pulled the sheet tight to my front and looked around the rooftop. When my eyes landed on the table, I smiled. A vase full of daisies sat in the middle, along with two plates, two mugs, and two glasses of orange juice.

So Declan had snuck off…sort of. The relief that raced through my body surprised me.

I stood, taking the sheet with me and wrapping it around my body. It may be the roof, but I wasn’t about to give anyone a show. I glanced around to find my discarded clothes. Declan and I hadn’t exactly been slow about things last night. I reached down and grabbed my clothes and headed into the house. The smell of bacon caused my stomach to growl. I could hear soft music coming from downstairs, and I couldn’t help but smile as I envisioned Declan cooking while dancing around the kitchen.

After heading to my room and changing into a T-shirt and sweats, I quickly went down to the kitchen. Declan was in the process of cracking an egg. When he saw me, a broad smile broke out over his handsome face.

“Good morning, sleeping beauty.”

Smiling, I walked over to him, reached up, and brushed a kiss across his lips. “Good morning. What time is it?”

“It’s a little after seven.”

“You should have woken me,” I said, as I headed over to the coffee pot and poured myself a cup. “Fresh-made coffee? Orange juice up on the rooftop, and breakfast going down here? What did I do to deserve all of this?”

He looked at me and grinned. “If I weren’t in the process of making you the best omelet you’ve ever had, I’d show you what you did to deserve it.”

I felt my cheeks heat as I remembered last night, and the feel of Declan’s mouth on my skin, between my legs, and on my own lips as he made love to me.

“You must be thinking of last night, too, with the way those cheeks are flushed.”

Sipping my coffee, I turned away before I attacked him and said to hell with breakfast.

“Last night was…unbelievable.”

Declan winked. “It was. I have to admit, I’m more than a little bummed you have to work today.”

“I know, but you could always come by and visit. I do close for lunch.”

He peeked over at me, and my entire body shivered in anticipation of what my lunchtime could look like. No more sitting in the back eating a sandwich and scrolling through Pinterest. Instead, it could be Declan fucking me while I was bent over a worktable.

Clearing my throat, I pushed the image away.

“What’s going through that pretty little mind of yours, Harp?”

I took another sip of coffee and debated whether to tell him what I’d been thinking. It wasn’t like me to say what I wanted to say, but I did it anyway.

“You, fucking me in the back of the flower shop,” I blurted.

The spatula he’d been holding clattered to the floor. He quickly scooped it up, tossed it into the sink, then turned to face me. “Is that so?”

Covering my mouth with my hand, I fought a grin. “I can’t believe I said that out loud.”

Declan moved closer, caging me in as he put his hands on the counter behind me. “I want you to tell me everything you want, Harp. Making you feel good is an aphrodisiac for me.”

My brows shot up. “Is it?”

“Fuck yes, it is. Watching you come, hearing my name fall from those pouty lips of yours, nothing has ever turned me on more.”

“I don’t know what to say to that,” I whispered as my stomach pulled with desire.

A wicked smile played across Declan’s face. “It’s a good thing I have today off. We can definitely have a lunch date.”

“A lunch date sounds nice.”

He leaned in and took my mouth with his. His hands moved up and slid into my hair, tugging so that I opened more to him. I moaned as the kiss turned hotter. My body felt like it was going to explode at any moment.

“More,” I gasped when his lips moved down my neck.

“What about breakfast?” he asked, his tongue moving along my collarbone and causing my entire body to shiver in anticipation of what was to come.

He didn’t wait for an answer. The next thing I knew, I was lifted onto the counter, and my legs spread apart.

Declan’s eyes met mine. “Damn sweatpants are in the way, Harp.”

“What was I thinking,” I said in a breathy voice.

Before either of us could do or say anything else, my doorbell rang.

We both froze, then Declan said, “Someone has shitty timing.”

I giggled and kissed him on the nose. “Probably for the best. I’m starving!”

Declan took the clean spatula I handed him. “Sure, use me for my body and cooking skills.”

Laughing out loud, I hit the intercom button. “Hello?”

“Harper, is Declan still with you?”

The instant image of Sean bent over on the sofa, Caroline spanking him with his mother’s pickleball paddle, had me struggling to hold back laughter. Clearing my throat, I focused on being serious.

“He is with me. We’re about to have breakfast, so maybe now isn’t a good time.”

“Harper, I’m not leaving until you let me come up.”

“Why, Sean? You got the girl. Your mom knows the truth. Just leave me be.”

“I’m not here to see you . I need to talk to my brother. Now.”

I looked at Declan, and he sighed. “Just let him in and let’s get it over with.”

Buzzing the door, I walked over to my front door and unlatched the lock. I could hear Sean hurrying up the steps. He gave a quick knock before coming in.

When he entered my place, I was already back in the kitchen. “Coffee?”

Sean shook his head as he walked toward his brother, frowning. “What are you doing?”

Declan looked down at the omelet he was about to flip. “I’m making us breakfast.”

Sean glanced over at me. “Actually, I will take a cup of coffee. Thanks, Harper.”

Nodding, I reached into the cupboard, got another mug, and poured him a cup. He took it black, like I did. I handed it to him and found myself unable to look him in the eye. It had nothing to do with the fact that I’d slept with his brother, and everything to do with the image of him getting spanked that I couldn’t get out of my head.

“What was so important that you had to bug us this morning?” Declan asked, sliding the omelet onto a plate and cutting it in half. The toast, which I hadn’t even seen him put in, popped up. I headed over, took them out, and buttered them. “Bacon?” Declan asked Sean, who shook his head.

“Did you want some of the omelet?” I asked Sean.

“No, I can’t eat anything.”

Confused, I looked at Declan, then back to Sean. “I’d think you’d be happy, now that you and Caroline are together. You are together, right?”

Sean’s cheeks blushed. “Yeah. But this doesn’t have anything to do with Caroline or anything like that. Declan…Mom is having an affair.”

I completely froze while Declan stared at his brother for a few seconds—then burst out laughing.

When Sean’s facial expression didn’t budge, I shook my head. “What do you mean?”

“Exactly what I said. She’s cheating on our father.”

Now Declan sighed, scrubbing a hand down his face. “How do you know? Are you sure , Sean?”

Sean closed his eyes for a few moments before focusing back on his brother. “I suspected it a couple of months ago when I saw Mom and some guy walking out of a hotel in Lake Placid.”

“Why were you in Lake Placid?” I asked.

“There was an accounting conference there. Don’t you remember I had to go to it for a few days?”

I nodded. “Oh yeah, that’s right.”

“Wait, they have…accounting conferences?” Declan asked, clearly more surprised by that than his mother and a strange man walking out of a hotel.

Sean looked agitated. “Yes, Declan, they do.”

“You don’t know who the guy was?” I asked. “Was your mom there for the conference as well?”

“No,” Sean said, with an agitated shake of his head. “Mom doesn’t have anything to do with Dad’s business. Has never had any interest in it. And I have no idea who he was. I’d never seen him before.”

“So this happened a couple months ago, and you’re just saying something now?”

Sean sighed. “I didn’t want to think that’s why Mom was there. I couldn’t believe she’d do anything like that, so I put it to the back of my mind. But after last night, when she barged in on Caroline and me, well…I was worried about her. She seemed pretty shocked.”

Declan and I both laughed, but with one searing look from Sean, we instantly sobered.

“Sorry,” Declan stated, as he motioned for Sean to go on.

“I stopped by the house this morning. I knew Dad would be out of the house early, so I thought it would be a good time to talk to Mom before I also headed into the office.”

“What happened?” I asked.

Sean’s face turned white. “I just used my key to get in.”

“Oh God,” Declan mumbled.

“Mom was in the kitchen being…well…this guy was…he was… Oh God, I can’t even say it.”

Declan and I both exchanged a look.

“Was a pickleball paddle involved?” Declan asked with a deadpan look.

Sean rolled his eyes. “I wish I never would have told you that!”

I covered my mouth in a sad attempt not to laugh. This was serious. Maddie was having an affair.

“Declan, the guy had Mom leaning over the kitchen table that we grew up eating at, and he was…they were having sex !”

Declan shuddered before taking a bite of his breakfast.

“Are you sure it wasn’t your dad?” I asked.

Sean snapped his head in my direction. “My dad was leaving for work early this morning, Harper. And they don’t do things like that.”

“Maybe Dad doubled back, and it was him. Are you a hundred percent sure it wasn’t Dad?” Declan asked.

Sean’s brows drew in. “Well, no. I’m not a hundred percent sure. I didn’t stand around and watch. I instantly turned away.”

Declan let out a groan. “So you thought the first thing you’d do after seeing Mom and Dad getting their freak on was come here and tell us?”

“I’ve had a pretty traumatic twenty-four hours, Declan!” Sean sputtered.

“I imagine so,” I said, earning a dirty look from him.

“While you two are over here playing house, I’ve got Mom walking in on me having sex, and then I walked in on her and… fuck , I hope it was Dad.”

I held up my finger. “Question. Did they see you ?”

“Um, I don’t think so. I turned around and hightailed it out of there.”

“Are you sure you don’t want anything to eat?” I asked, gesturing to my half-eaten omelet.

“No.” Sean held up his hands, then put one on his stomach. “I don’t have the stomach for it.”

Declan pulled out his phone. “Let’s just get this figured out once and for all.”

A look of horror passed over Sean’s face. “What are you going to do? Call her and ask if she’s having an affair?”

Declan put the cell on speakerphone, and I found myself leaning closer, as did Sean.

“Good morning, sweetheart!” Maddie called out, clearly in a good mood.

“Hey, Mom. I’m here with Sean and Harper. We’re having breakfast.”

“Really? Oh, that’s nice to hear that you both worked things out.”

“Mom, I’m going to cut to the chase.”

Sean started jumping around and waving his hands as he mouthed the words don’t do it !

“Oookay. I’m thrilled, if you’re worried about what I think of you and Harper. I’m glad to see both of my boys happy. And if that means you’re with Harper, and Sean is with Caroline and her freaky ways…”

Sean dropped to the floor and covered his face as I clamped my hand over my mouth to keep from laughing out loud.

“Yeah, I heard about that. Guess you’ll want a new pickleball paddle for your birthday, huh?”

I lost the battle and started laughing. Sean shot his brother the middle finger.

Maddie drew in a breath and exhaled. “I don’t think I’ll be playing anytime soon.”

Declan laughed, then reined it in. “Right, don’t blame you. So, Mom, who were you having sex with in the kitchen this morning?”

My mouth fell open as Sean stared at his brother, blinking rapidly.

“I beg your pardon?”

“The table sex this morning?”

Maddie gasped. “How did you know? It was only me and your father at home!”

Declan pointed to Sean as if to say there’s your answer.

“Sean stopped by, heard you, and then turned around and left. He had this crazy idea you were having an affair, since he saw you leaving a Lake Placid hotel with someone a while back.”

“Oh my God,” Sean said, cradling his head as he rocked back and forth. Sean was really having a bad twenty-four hours and I got immense joy in knowing I got to witness every glorious moment of it.

“What?” Maddie practically screamed. “That was Pastor Martin ! I was meeting with him about renewing our wedding vows. How could he not remember Pastor Martin?”

Sean jumped up. “You were leaving a hotel with him! What was I supposed to think?”

“That’s because we were married there, you idiot! I was booking the same reception room where we got married. Sean, why in the world would you think I’d ever cheat on your father?”

Declan and I exchanged amused looks.

“I’m sorry! And I didn’t see who you were with this morning.”

“It was your father!”

There was an awkward silence before Declan asked, “So…have you and Dad always been into sex in the kitchen, Mom? I just need to know where to avoid when over for dinner.”

I reached over and hit Declan’s arm as Sean groaned.

“I am hanging up now!”

The line went dead, and Declan started to laugh. “ That is how you nip shit in the bud, little brother.”

Sean looked like he was about to be sick. “I don’t know what’s worse. Thinking Mom was having sex with a stranger, or knowing it was her and Dad.”

He gagged and covered his mouth.

“As fun as this family drama has been, I’ve got to get ready for work. Sean, you know the way out.”

“You’re kicking me out?” he asked.

All I did was lift my hand and wave.
