Some Irish / Gaelic words have multiple meanings! There are others I’ve included in This Vow of Ours but I think in the context they’ll be obvious.

Amadan – Gaelic. Idiot / fool

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine – Proverb. It's in the shadow of each other that the people survive

Bell end – the head of a penis

Craic – A good time / fun / banter /mischievous /news

Eejit – someone who’s foolish / someone that has done something foolish

Faugh a Ballaugh - an Irish battle cry meaning clear the way

Feck / feckin / fecking - euphemistic substitute for fuck

Garda – Irish police force, Guardians of the Peace

Hoor – a whore

Langer – used to describe someone stupid / the end of a penis

Leanai – Gaelic. Children or babies.

Madainn mhath – Gaelic. Good morning

Mo shíorghra – my eternal love, sometimes used as a term for soulmates

Shade - refers to undercover or plainclothes Garda

Shook as a hand at Mass – used to describe an extreme hangover

Stellar – excellent / relating to stars

Taoiseach - the prime minister of the Republic of Ireland
