GROUP ASSIGNMENTS

(noun) A substance that’s capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed.

(noun) A weapon incorporating a metal tube from which bullets, shells, or other missiles are propelled by explosive force, typically making a characteristic loud, sharp noise.

GROUP 3—KNIFE—RAVI BOTHA

(noun) An instrument composed of a blade fixed into a handle, used for cutting or as a weapon.

Examples: silver dagger. See: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

GROUP 4—ROPE—ELIZABETH BEN

(noun) A length of strong cord made by twisting together strands of natural fibers, such as hemp, or artificial fibers, such as polypropylene.

Examples: garrote, hangman’s noose. See: The Murders in the Rue Morgue.

GROUP 5—HEAVY OBJECT—CONNOR SMITH

(noun) Something that has great weight, is difficult to lift or move, and requires significant force to displace.

Examples: shovel, rock. See: Murder in Mesopotamia.
