Chapter 11. Is Time Really a Flat Circle?

First Writing Assignment—Rope

Prompt: What would drive you to murder?

Everyone’s always saying there’s a book in everyone.

I don’t think that’s true. Writing a book is hard and takes a level of commitment that not everyone has.

And maybe they aren’t being literal, and what that expression means is that everyone has a story to tell.

That I believe. Because everyone has had ups and downs and twists and turns and low moments and heights and stakes in their lives.

And also: I think there’s a murder in all of us. It just has to be unlocked.

We all have someone we’d kill for. Someone who could drive us over the edge if they tried hard enough.

If we thought no one was looking. Like that horrible man in France who invited so many men to sexually assault his wife.

I bet everyone who knew them says they’re good men.

That they’d never. But the truth is all they needed was an opportunity.

All they needed was to think no one was looking.

So what would drive me to murder? Lots of things, probably. I’d just have to be sure I’d get away with it.
