Chapter 6
Quinn
I didn’t know how long I stared at Cameron’s number on my phone. I wanted to sharethe story aboutmy amazing night but was afraid he would judge me. I was doing more than enough of that on my own. I couldn’t believe I had random yetamazingsex with two strangers. I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t do it again in a heartbeat. Hell, my pussy was throbbing just thinking about it.
Scrolling past Cameron’s number, I searched for my newest contact. It was such a temptation to call him. As much as I wanted to press the call button,I decidedI wanted him to contact me first. I didn’t want to feel desperate or needy. Even though my pussy was feeling very needy. Groaning, I scrolled backupto Cameron’s number and hit the call button. It rang four times before he answered. “Hello?”
“What’s up?” I asked, glancing at my phone to see the time. It had just hit noon, so it was about time to have some lunch.
“Shit. Amree and I are going to get some food in a bit. Wanna come?”
I had a very small group of friends, most of whom I would never admit my sexual escapades to. Amree was alright; she was the closest thing I had to a best friend aside from Cameron, who was technically Luke’s best friend and not mine.
“Where are you two going?”
“We’re thinking Baxter’s Grill to grab some cheese fries.”
My mouth nearly salivated at that thought.Theyhad the most amazing honey garlic wings. “I’ll meet you there!”
I passed a mirror and grimaced at my reflection on my way to the bedroom. When I got home the previous night, I was so tired I didn’tbother toshower. Black circles creased under my eyes from melted eyeliner. Streaks of green eyeshadow was smudged all the way up to my eyebrows. I really hope I didn’t look like this while getting railed. Grabbing some makeup wipes, I scrubbed my face until it didn’t look like a Halloween mask.Dressed in a cute little orange top witha pair ofblue jeans and hair tossed into a messy bun, I couldactuallypass as a respectable human being.
It only took me five minutes to make my way uptown. Amree’s car was already parked on the street. A cool breeze caused me to shudder as I left the warmth of my Jeep and rushed inside. The moment I spotted my friends, I was hit with a sudden wave of self-consciousness. Amree was so damned beautiful and always looked like she was ready for a night on the town. Her hair was done in several colorful micro braids. Her full lips were a bright pink, matching her top, and her eyelashes were to die for. Her eyeshadow was also perfect, adding just the right touch to her glowing brown skin.
Plopping down, I asked, “Why are you all dressedup?”
She grinned. “Got a date.”
I couldn’t hide the cheesy smile that slid across my face. “Me too.”
Cameron leaned back, crossing one leg over the other. “Tea. We need all the tea.”
Unable to hide my giddiness, I picked up the menu and tried to hide my face. How much did I tellthem? Did I go all in and tell them about Taven as well? Or did I just tell them about Keith? “Well, you know that bikerwho wasriding in the rain?”
Cameron’s eyes grew wide. “Him? How? When?”
Feeling the blush on my face, I continued to cover my expression with the menu. “I went to a bar last night. I needed to do something because I was beginning to spiral. Some weirdo smacked my ass, and the biker came to my rescue. I went with him and his friend to their clubhouse... we went to a back room and did it.”
His jaw dropped. “You fucked him?”
“And his friend,” I squeaked.
There was silence for a long while. Eventually, I pulled the menu away, and my friendswere staringat me as if I had suddenly changed into a clown.
“You had sex with two men?”
I hesitated to reply, and eventually, Amree spoke up, “What bikers are they? What do they look like? Do they have patches?”
“They have a ghost skull thing in the middle. They are Phantom something or other.”
“Phantom Raiders. I know those guys. They come into the Dusty Bottoms all the time. Which ones did you bang? They are all fine as fuck, so I wouldn’t blame you if you let all three of them bang you at the same time.”
Before I could answer, Cameron slapped his phone onto the table. “It happened again!”
I looked at him. “What?”
He slid the phone across the table. A breaking news story glared at me from his screen. Another cop murdered, gutted like the last one with an apple in their mouth and a note that read, ‘The second little piggy.’
“I told you they weren’t done!”
I opened my mouth to speak, but my phone rang. It was Keith. A waitress came to the table as I stood up.“Six honey garlic wings and a sweet tea, please.”
Nervous, I dashed outside and answered the call. “Hello?”
“Good, I got the right number.”
I giggled, “Well, yeah, I texted you when I got home.”
“Could have been a burner.”
“I’m not smart enough to figure out how to get a burner phone. Too poor for that, too.”
He laughed, “So, we still on for sushi tonight?”
“I hope so.”
“I knew you were a sushi girl... what are you doing now?”
“Having lunch with friends.”
“Oh, I just woke up; I’m lying naked in my bed thinking of you.”
I could feel the blood instantly rush to my cheeks. “You sleep naked?”
“It’s the only way to sleep. I can’t stand being confined.”
The bud between my legs began to throb; I needed to change the subject before I drenched my pants. “What time are we going?”
“I’ll pick you up at five. Text me your address.”
“I will when we get off the phone.”
“Well then, I’m going to hang upso I cantake a cold shower. I’ll see you at five.”
I hung up the phone with a toothy grin and returned to my friends. Amree gave me a knowing look while Cameran just shook his head. “Whore,”he chuckled.
I stuck my tongue out. “I didn’t get paid for it.”
“So, a slut then,”he teased with a lopsided grin.
“You’re just mad I beat you to it.”
“Mad as fuck. And I only saw one ofthem.”
Amree slapped him on the arm. “All three of them are truly fine as fuck.”She looked at me with a mischievous grin. “So, who did you fuck? The scary guy, the black guy, or the albino?”
I raised an eyebrow. “I never saw an albino.”
Pursing her lips, Amree nodded decisively. “She fucked the scary guy and the black guy.”
Laughing, I shook my head. “What do you mean by ‘scary guy?’”
“Tell me he doesn’t look like the type you don’t want to run into in a dark alley... Well, considering his looks, maybe I do.” She paused when the waitress brought us our food. “Think you can hook me up with the albino?”
Cameron asked, “Are you sure he’s albino?”
“I’m sure he’s pasty as hell. Paler than her ginger ass, that’s for sure. But I’m telling you, he is gorgeous. He has long blond hair and is just... sexy.”
Her words triggered a memory. A man lying on a couch with long blond hair. “I’m sure he wouldn’t like being referred to as ‘the albino.’”
She shrugged. “Shit, I don’t know his name.”
“I think it’s Zane.”
Cameron popped a fry into his mouth. “Alright, I haven’t been laid in ages, so let’s change the subject, shall we? Do you think these killers will be done after three?”
Rolling my eyes, I picked up my phone. I didn’t want a repeat of yesterday. I was trying to move on with my life. I didn’t need Cameron pulling me back down into the muddy pit that was his obsession with dead cops. I wanted revenge for the death of Luke. I wanted whoever was doing this to present me with the body of the man responsible. But I didn’t want to talk about this anymore.
Getting to my feet, I popped one more boneless wing into my mouth and slung my purse over my shoulder. “Well, I have a date. I need to get ready.”Winking, I tossed garbage away and headed home.
