Time for Home
Chapter 1
As Oliver Parker raced down the street and neared the corner, the fast-approaching footsteps coming from the alley heightened his senses. The injury to his knee was a reminder of why he left the Army and hoped it wouldn’t give out now.
He rounded the end of the building and was suddenly struck from the side by a flying figure hurtling toward him. A high-pitched squeal hit his ears, and his arms instinctively wrapped around the person. Unable to keep them from falling, he twisted his body midair to cushion the fall, landing on the sidewalk with the other person on top. He continued to roll to pin them underneath him, so he pressed their slight weight to the ground.
Straightening his elbows, he looked down, stunned to see that he recognized the woman. His body was prone on top of hers, and even though he’d taken the brunt of the blow from the fall, her delicate curves were now trapped underneath him on the hard pavement.
Well, fuck… what the hell is she doing here?
