Epilogue

B rigid and Sandy woke slowly and lazily the next morning, wrapped in each others arms as they lay tangled in Sandy’s bed. Brigid ran a finger down his chest, admiring how handsome her husband was. And, after last night’s vows, he truly was her husband. They had finally agreed to stay married - and to make this the true marriage it should have been all along. After all, they loved each other.

Brigid could not believe how happy she felt. Her family would be leaving after breakfast, and she would miss them, but she still had no doubt that she belonged here, with Sandy. Besides, they only saw each other occasionally at the best of times, with Kara and Drest time travelling so often. They had agreed to all meet in the twenty-first century at the solstices. And perhaps Brigid would finally go to visit her parents in the time of her birth - her father’s time. No wonder she felt so at home here, in the eighteenth century. It was somewhere in between the time she was born and the time she grew up in. She could definitely be happy here - with Sandy.

Her husband kissed her and leaned over her. Brigid rose up to press against him, loving the feel of his naked skin on hers. The kiss deepened, leaving her dizzy as she poured out all of her love.

At some point, they would have to get up and do things. Say farewell to Brigid’s family. Arrange a funeral. Run a castle, manage an estate, recover from a siege. But right now, all she could think about was Sandy. She wrapped her legs around him, pulling his hips close to hers. He moaned into her mouth, and it made her light-headed. His powerful hands gripped her hips, shifting her to just the right angle, and then it was her turn to moan. He felt so wonderful as he slid inside her, his lips never drifting far from hers.

Who ever would have thought that she’d find herself here, lady of a castle in the Highlands, wife to its handsome laird? Brigid had said goodbye to everything she ever wanted - but, somehow, she had finally found everything she needed, all wrapped up in one wonderful, loving Highlander.
