Chapter Ten

“Then let’s find out just how bad he really is.

” Crank tossed the covers back and sat up.

“I have a feeling I’m gonna find out much more.

He and both my brothers will have the rest of their lives to spend thinking about what they did and I hope every day they spend in prison is hard.

” He looked over his shoulder and smirked, “I hope they are very hard and unforgiving. It won’t make up for what he did, but he’ll have a very hard time.

Losing his money, his power, then his freedom. ”

Crank grasped both of her hands and held them then he reached up to swipe her regret filled tears away,

Crank raised her hand and kissed her knuckles. “I am so sorry, baby. So very sorry.”

Ursala shrugged. “I know your father and his men won’t have to do hard labor, but maybe they will do hard time. I hope they have to look over their shoulders for whoever might be lurking behind them and looking for trouble that same way I had to.”

“I hear the men in those prisons don’t like certain people that do certain things,” Crank explained. “And they have done those certain things, over and over each and every time, year after year. Prison isn’t gonna be a cakewalk for them and they will feel it day after day.”

Ursala nodded. “And I will be there to testify against them. I’m not afraid now. I will tell a court all that they did.”

“Ok, but we need coffee first,” he joked as he pulled his pants on.

When he finished getting dressed, she had come out of the bathroom.

He watched her use his brush and brushed her long dark hair out.

Then she laid it down on the dresser and he held out his hand to her.

When she put her hand into his, he dragged her toward the door.

When they reached the main room, Crank saw a lot of his brothers sitting there with empty plates and drinking coffee.

One of his MC brothers, Frankie, studied him and Ursala carefully.

Crank frowned slightly but went to get their breakfast.

They sat at one of the tables far away from Frankie.

Ursala greeted Titus and Bouncer then she looked over at her daughter. “How did you sleep, baby girl?”

Reno smiled at her mom and said, “The infirmary wasn't so bad and I slept good. Well, I did until someone we won’t mention began to snore.” She glanced over at Titus then she looked back at her mom and winked.

Ursala smiled and nodded slightly. “Yeah girl, I hear you.”

Titus looked between the two women. “Hey now, I don’t snore that loud,” he assured them.

Reno just looked at him and shook her head.

Crank came back with two plates and sat down beside Ursala.

She had already poured them each a cup of coffee from the carafe on the table. Crank swung his gaze over to where Frankie was sitting.

Now, the man was openly glaring at the table they were sitting at.

Crank glanced over at Titus, then flicked his eyes at Frankie again.

Titus caught his glance and noted the message Crank was trying to get to him. He nodded slightly but didn’t turn to look at the other man.

Crank settled into eating his breakfast sitting with his finance and daughter.

He shook his head at the very idea. It should have been his wife and daughter.

..A long time ago. When he was finished, he sat back with another cup of coffee and looked at Titus.

“I’m going to be scouring more records and information today.

Titus nodded. “I figured you would. I’ll watch over them, don't worry.”

Ursala looked over at Crank. “I do have a friend and she’s the best. She used to do what you do, Nolan. But I’m not sure if she still does it?”

“Did she help you?” Titus asked.

Ursala nodded. “I wouldn’t let her get involved with the trouble we were running from.

But the truth is, Tommy got me and Reno fake IDs and documents to get us jobs, and not be driving without licenses.

We couldn’t go legit, Nolan. Your father would find us that way.

I learned that early on. Then my friend would even help me with cars.

You know, getting me vehicles for free.”

He stared at her. “Wait... her name is Tommy?”

She nodded.

“And she got you rides for free?” Titus asked.

“Yes, but not by stealing them. She would change the records on them. They would be cars criminals owned and were confiscated. Then when they came up for auction, she would have someone get one for like a hundred bucks.”

“How did you meet her?” Crank asked.

“I met her in Lafayette, Louisiana, maybe fifteen years back. She was beaten up and barely breathing. I found her in the alley behind the place I worked. At an under the table job. I had my own troubles, but I just couldn’t leave her there.

I took her back to my hotel room. Reno and I nursed her back to health. ”

“Then what happened to her?”

“She had to run from whomever tried to kill her and so did I. But she promised that I could call her anytime I needed help. And I did need that a few times over the next ten years. In fact, if I hadn’t had her, we would have died.”

“But Tommy said that if we hadn’t helped that day, she would have died,” Reno spoke up.

“So what are you telling me?” Crank asked, still looking confused.

“You're like an IT expert, right?” Ursala asked. “I mean that’s what you do now?”

He shrugged. “I like fixing engines more. I mean that was what I was doing when we were together. But I make a better living at IT work.”

“Look, I know you...” Ursuala paused. “...never liked breaking any law. I bet you’re still the same way, aren't you?”

Titus snickered.

Crank snapped his glare over at him.

Titus shrugged. “Dude, it’s true. Like you won’t even ride five miles over the freakin’ speed limit.”

Crank ignored him and asked her, “Why are you bringing this up?”

Reno stood from the table and said, “Our friend is a hacker. Like 100 percent. Breaks firewalls, cracks codes...You know, unlawful stuff.”

Crank looked from her to Ursala and slowly shook his head.

His fiancé stood up and took his hand in hers. “Tommy will find everything there is to know about your father and brothers.”

Reno nodded. “In less than like 2 hours. It would save a lot of time and get you some heavy evidence on them.”

“Can I call Tommy?” Ursala asked.

“If this person is in hiding as most hackers are...How do you do that?” he asked.

“It’s a very complicated answering service,” Reno said. “Only it’s set up under encryption with a URL filter, then it has a relay loop into an email that Tommy has set up.” She grinned at her dad.

Crank stared at her then he chuckled. “Wow! You know what all of that is, Reno?”

Nodding, she smiled. “I sure do, I helped her to set it up when I was 15.”

Crank stared at her then around at everyone there. “You all hear that? My daughter is a Tech Nerd!” he exclaimed.

His MC brothers all stared at him in shock as they had never seen him happy or excited before.
