EPILOGUE

Six months later

Flying through the clear blue sky, Nyra’s arms spread out beside her, her thoughts wandered back to the beginning of her journey. To the very same one that had forever changed her life.

“Do you have any regrets, wildling?”

“Never,”she answered, heart growing from the sound of her mate’s voice in her mind. From the feel of his silver scales beneath her as they soared over the Endless Sea.

“I wish to show you something.”

She smiled. He always wished to show her something, as if her delight at witnessing the many splendid things that he’d come to see during his long existence brought him joy, as well.

Landing on a remote island, she jumped off his powerful back, scanning her surroundings. “What is this place?”

Countless rows of the tallest trees that Nyra had ever seen in her life reached towards the sky, their crowns overflowing with various exotic fruits, while waves the size of entire palaces crashed into rocky cliff sides.

A firm hand rested on her shoulder, Raiden’s smoky voice vibrating against the shell of her, “This is the Isle of Ur Chisisi. Home to a very dear friend of mine, wildling.”

“Who is he?”

“Who said it was a he?”

She frowned. “You never told me about any of your female companions. I’m not sure I want to meet her.”

Chuckling, his muscular arms wound around her, pulling Nyra back against his chest. “Don’t worry, little vixen, it’s nothing like that,” his voice trailed off, gazing somewhere far off in the distance. “She helped me when I was wounded. It was a long time ago, she might not even remember me.”

Their fingers linked together as they began to walk towards the tall trees. “Oh, so she’s old. Well, why didn’t you say so? Now I truly have nothing to worry about.”

Head thrown back, Raiden roared with laughter. “I never said she was old, either. Not in the usual sense of the word, anyway.”

“What!?” she smacked him across the arm. “Is she pretty?”

His nose scrunched up. “I suppose, I haven’t really paid that much attention to her physical appearance.”

“What do you mean? What’s wrong with her?”

“Nothing, wildling, except that she could probably level me with the ground if I ever were to get on her nerves.”

Confused, Nyra said, “What do you mean?”

“Let’s just say that she’s the commander of a very powerful immortal army. I was too busy admiring her warring skills to notice anything else.”

“Don’t be so humble. You’re one of the most powerful dragon shifters alive.”

“I am, little mate, but she has something that I never will. The blood of the gods.”

The first line of trees passed them by, the melodic tune of the birds welcoming them as the two of them went deeper into the forest.

Raiden leaned in, murmuring in Nyra’s ear, “Let’s talk about something more interesting. Like what I’m going to do to you once I get you back in my bed. How I’m going to feast on your pretty little–”

She kissed him, swallowing his words before they could form on his lips. “Then let’s get this over with already.”
