55. Kash

Chapter Fifty-Five

KASH

Why did she have to chose tonight of all nights to pick this fight? I watched her walk away.

Did she really think she could run away from me?

That I was just going to let her walk away after she told me she loved me.

Fuck, no.

I had her now, and I wasn’t going to let her go.

I didn’t care what anyone had to say about it.

She could hate me all she wanted.

She was mine, and she always would be.

“Why are you doing this? You have her, you love each other. Stop pushing her away.”

I looked down at Kat.

“I thought you wanted me to leave her,” I said.

Kat sighed. “Sometimes, two people are not meant to be together. And sometimes, those two people are absolute menaces who belong together, and have really hot make-up sex each time they fight. Which category do you want to be in?”

I looked towards where Naina had disappeared in the crowd. I absolutely fucking wanted to be in the second category.

“Just remember, I might be five foot five, but I will kill you if you hurt my best friend. You’ve met my father, haven’t you?”

Kat raised an eyebrow in question. Oh, yes, I had met her father. Richard Covington was jovial enough, like Santa, only tall and thin.

He had appeared out of nowhere, and rumor had it that he conned Covington Media from the original Covington’s.

No one really knew who Richard Covington was, and if there had been a real Richard Covington who was now dead and replaced by the fake.

Because no one had proof, it was all just rumors and tall tales. I couldn’t be sure if Kat was playing up the rumors or telling me they were true.

“I don’t want to hurt Naina,” I said. “Trust me, I am thoroughly aware how lucky I am to have her.”

“Now if all people were like you,” Kat said, raising her hands.

I walked out the ballroom, ignoring my father’s heated glare on my back. Naina could have gone anywhere.

She could have gone outside to the roof garden, she could have gone up to the room, or she could have left the hotel again.

I found Grayson outside the ballroom.

“Mrs. Sutherland went to the restroom,” he said quickly.

The restrooms were in a little alcove, mostly hidden from view. I walked in that direction.

“I see you’re all high and mighty now that you’re married to a Sutherland. Does he know what you did? Should I tell him? Let’s see what they’re going to do with you then.”

“Let me go, asshole,” Naina cried.

I rounded the corner, and all I saw was a man’s hand gripping Naina’s arm, holding her close to him as he leaned down towards her.

My vision turned red and I grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him away from my wife.

“Kash,” Naina said.

I pushed the man into a pillar, putting my arm against his neck as he struggled.

Recognition filtered through my anger.

Victor Blake, Naina’s former boss. I’d never liked him when I met him the few times while he was on the team of lawyers handling our lawsuit, and I liked him even less now.

“Mr. Sutherland,” he gasped, his face turning red.

“Listen to me, Blake. Whatever it is you think I don’t know about my wife, you’re fucking wrong. And you’ve made a big mistake putting your hands on her. I’m going to bury you so far below the earth even archeologists won’t be able to find you. I’m going to destroy your very existence, and I’m going to take great pleasure in it.”

“Kash, let him go.”

Naina put her hand on my shoulder, pulling me back. Blake’s face was turning blue, his eyes starting to bulge from lack of air. I removed my arm from his throat and he fell forward, coughing and gasping for air.

“You’re fucking lucky she’s here, otherwise tonight would be the last time anyone saw you.”

Taking Naina’s hand in mine, I led her out of the alcove, down the hall and through the doors that led to the roof garden.

Fairy lights were strung along the hedges, the stone railings and the gazebo. A sweet scent hung in the air from the flowers.

“You didn’t have to do that,” Naina said softly.

I laughed humorlessly.

“Yes, I fucking did. No one touches you, no one threatens you, no one hurts you. You’re my wife.”

Naina didn’t say anything, watching me with sad eyes. I pinched the bridge of my nose, wishing more than anything that I could give her the freedom she wanted.

But I was selfish.

Years spent under my father’s thumb had taught me to hoard all the beautiful things in life like some kind of dragon. Naina was the most beautiful thing in my life, the loveliest thing I ever called mine.

I lied to myself when I said I could let her go.

“You don’t get it, do you?” I said. “You’ve fucking ruined me. Nothing is enough for me now. Nothing holds meaning if it’s not about you or if I can’t share it with you. I was content with my life. I was never going to have some great love and that was fine.”

I breathed out.

“Then I met you, and I heard you laugh, and watched you smile, and experienced your mind. That’s not something a man forgets, Naina. I’m not letting you go. Just the thought makes me feel like my soul is being ripped out of my chest. I will do anything from you; I will fight the literal devil for you. I will keep you safe, no matter how much you protest or hate me for it. You’re not getting rid of me, ever.”

Naina released a breath, her eyes softening.

“I love you, too.”

Her words released the tight pressure in my chest, and I realized how much I needed to hear them again. This wasn’t something temporary, it never had been.

“But you have to understand how completely unacceptable it was for you to that without telling me,” Naina said, making my heart sink.

“I didn’t make the decision lightly, Naina. I would never have done it if my father hadn’t been poking around. Why do you think I had Grayson leak the news about the New York property?”

Naina was surprised, taking a startled step back. She watched me with wide, disbelieving eyes.

“You did that?”

I rubbed my forehead. I was telling her a lot more than she needed to know.

“I had to. I needed to distract my father because I knew he would do anything to make you leave me. Once he was distracted with managing that chaos, I bought your mortgage.”

Naina opened and closed her mouth. It was a lot of information, I didn’t blame her for being surprised or utterly confused.

“I’m still paying for the mortgage.”

I shrugged. “You don’t have to. I was going to tell you once everything settled down.”

Her mouth snapped shut, and she looked at me flatly.

“It’s my mortgage.”

“And your husband is literally a billionaire. Buying it didn’t even make a dent in my bank account. I don’t want you worrying about something so small. Don’t think of it as giving up your integrity. Think of it as letting your husband prove how much he loves you.”

Naina stared at me blankly, and I could sense her mind whirring.

Money was a big deal for her, I understood. She came from a humble background, had worked hard all her life.

She wasn’t going to be doing that anymore.

“Any other secrets you’re keeping from me?”

“Yes,” I said honestly.

Naina paced paced back and forth, her heels clicking on the sandstone beneath us.

“What are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking how lucky you are that I love you. But you cannot ever do something like this again. I mean it. I need to make my own decisions, Kash.”

My whole body sagged with relief.

She was right, I was lucky she loved me.

I nodded. “I promise. You’re in charge.”

Naina released a breath, brushing back her hair. She was amazing.

I didn’t want to take her back to the party and have other people see her and want her.

“Can I kiss you?” I asked.

She blinked in surprise. “Yes, you can.”

I reached for her, and Naina wrapped her arms around my neck, our mouths meeting in a soft kiss that quickly turned eager.

I had her, she was mine.

“I need to get inside you. Please, Naina.”

She nodded into the kiss. “Yes, yes.”

Her hands reached under her skirt and removed her panties, handing them to me.

“For your collection,” she said, winking.

I slipped them into my pocket as she reached for my belt. I pressed her against a pillar, leaning down to pepper kisses along her neck, sucking on the spot below her ear that made her weak.

Reaching inside my underwear, Naina wrapped her hand around my hard cock, moving it up and down, jerking me off.

Her legs went around my waist as I picked her up. I entered her in one hard, forceful thrust, surrounding myself with the soft, wet heat of her. Being inside her was one of the best feelings in the world. I could spend my life between her thighs.

“This is not going to be slow and sweet.”

“It’s never slow and sweet between us,” Naina said.

I wanted to give her that, but not right now. Right now, I needed to fuck her.

I wanted to imprint myself onto her soul and body.

My hand was gripping her thigh tightly, fingers creating divots in her skin and my hips were pushing into her brutally, needing to get all of me inside her.

“The feel of your cunt wrapped around my cock is like nothing else, baby,” I said. “It’s like silk, warm and soft. I love how eager you get for my cock.”

I put my hand on the pillar at the back of her head to keep her from hitting it. She rested her head on it, her eyes squeezed shut, teeth sinking into her bottom lip.

“Because you fuck me so good,” she cried.

“Say it again,” I said, my voice harsh from the pleasure.

Her eyes opened and met mine, fathomless and soul sucking.

“I love you,” she whispered.

I thrust, making her cry out.

“Again.”

“I love you,” she cried out. Her pussy gripped me tightly as she came, soaking my cock.

My cock pulsed, balls drawing tight as I flooded her pussy with my come. Naina moaned, her thighs tightening around me.

“I love it when you come inside me.”

I had this sudden image of her pregnant with our child, and it left me breathless. The life I never imagined for myself was within reach because of Naina.

She kissed me, sucking and nipping on my bottom lip.

I hated to pull out of her, but someone was bound to come looking for us.

I swept my tongue into her mouth, tasting her again.

“We need to get back to the party,” I whispered.

Setting her on her feet, I cleaned her as best I could. Naina giggled, and I quirked an eyebrow at her.

“Nothing, it’s just, you keep stealing my panties, and I keep ruining your hankies.”

I grinned. “No one can accuse us of not being on even footing in this relationship.”

Naina rolled her eyes. “Let’s not get crazy. You still are, and always will be, a lot richer than me.”

I straightened my clothes, running a hand through my hair.

“We don’t have a pre-nup, sweetheart. Everything that is mine is yours.”

Naina eyed me thoughtfully.

“What if I decide to leave you one day and take half?”

I knew she was joking but even the thought of it had my smile dropping and lead dropping into my stomach.

“How far do you think you’re going to get?”

She shrugged. “At least until the end of the driveway, and that’s if I plan well and leave in the middle of the night.”

Naina considered it a joke, but the truth was she wasn’t wrong. If she tried to run, she wouldn’t get far. There wasn’t a corner of this earth I wouldn’t go to for her.

Naina cleaned up in the restroom, and we walked back into the party like nothing happened.

“Where have you been?” Vera asked, walking up to us. “Uncle Edward is looking furious. Mom thinks he’s going to pop a blood vessel.”

“That’s not going to happen,” I said. “The universe already used up all my luck with Naina.”

Vera looked at Naina, smiling conspiratorially.

“I told you.”

Naina smiled up at me. “Yeah, you did.”

“By the way, Kat has been flying around in a murderous rage,” Vera said to Naina. “Something about Kash inviting Nick.”

“I’m going to check up on her and Sami.”

Naina reached up to kiss my cheek, disappearing into the crowd. I watched her walk up to Samira, who was talking to Crystal, of all people.

In all the time I had known Crystal, she had never once spoken to anyone.

Vera snaked her arm through mine.

“Well, then, you’re in love,” she said. “I never thought I would live to see this day.”

“It wasn’t a complete impossibility,” I said.

We stopped by a group of our investors and participated in their thrilling golf stories before moving along.

“How many golf stories do these people have?” I asked.

Vera stopped, steering us in a different direction, and I noticed we had been walking straight towards where Reid was talking to Lex and Nick.

“How long are you going to avoid him?” I asked.

Vera gave me dry look. “Just because you’re all loved up doesn’t mean the rest of us have to be.”

“You realize one of these days he’s going to move back?” I asked softly.

Vera swallowed, blinking rapidly.

“Do we have to talk about this? Let’s talk about you and your wife.”

Naina was on the other side of the room, laughing at something Samira said. She had found Kat, their arms hooked through each other’s.

“Do you think she’ll be happy being a Sutherland?” I asked Vera.

“I think she’ll be happy being yours, as long as you’re happy being hers.”

Out of the crowd, Grayson stepped up to me.

“Your father has requested to see you and Mrs. Sutherland.”

This was it, then.
