Revved & Reckless – By R. Snow #6
“Avery. I know I’ve been the biggest dick to you. You have every right to get out of my car and walk away right now, but I hope you’ll stay and listen.” I paused, waiting for some sort of response from her.
She looked at me. I could almost feel her mulling her options around in her head. Then, she surprised me.
“Fine, Tyler, just say what you need to say,” she whispered.
I took a deep breath. My palms were clammy, and I wiped them on my jeans. I was anxious, and my heart felt like it was pounding like an impact wrench in my chest.
“Look, I definitely fucked up, and for that, I’m sorry. I’m really fucking sorry, Avery. You have every right to tell me to go fuck myself and storm off and never look my way again, but I hope you don’t. If I’m being selfish, I want you to give me that chance that I never gave you. I want
you to let me show you the guy I really am, and just how much I can care about someone, especially someone as special as you. I know I don’t deserve another chance with you, but I’m still sitting here, looking into your eyes, and asking for it anyway.”
My hands gripped my knees. I could see the color draining out of them as I waited for a response from her.
Is this the part where she tells me to get fucked and leaves again? If there’s a God out there, all I’m asking for is a chance with her. I know I don’t deserve it—but, damn it, I need it. I need it more than anything right now.
“How do I know you’re not just saying all that because you felt bad about what you did back there?
How do I trust that you mean any of it? I’m not in the market for getting my heart broken again, Tyler, especially not by the same boy.
So, if you’re just saying all this to smooth things over? Don’t.”
“I’m not!” I froze in my seat, shocked at myself.
All right, you basically just shouted in her face. Fat chance of her giving you a shot now.
I closed my eyes and exhaled, long and heavy. That’s when something happened that I never expected. Avery reached out and placed her soft warm hand on top of mine, and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Hey, chill. Alright, I believe you. But, Tyler Maverick, I swear if I give you a shot to date me and you screw it up again? Boy, you better wish your car is faster than mine because I will hunt you down and put sugar in your gas tank. Got it?” she said.
I couldn’t believe it. She was teasing me. I turned my head to face her, and that’s when I saw how close we had become.
“Yes, ma’am,” I said, my heart beating wildly in my chest as my eyes wandered from her face to her body. I wanted to touch her so bad.
As if she had read my mind, faster than I could blink, Avery had her seat belt unbuckled and had climbed over the center console, settling onto my lap.
I wrapped my arms up and around her back as our lips collided with a feverish need. I didn’t know if it was because it’d been a long time since I had kissed anyone, or if Avery was the best kisser known to man, but I was addicted from the moment our lips met.
I slid my hand up and tangled my fingers into her hair at the back of her neck, pulling her more into my body. She moaned as our tongues met, and it made my cock grow stiff in my pants.
We made out until the sun dipped behind the buildings next to us.
I didn’t want my first time with her to be in the front seat of my car, even though I knew she would probably be down.
I couldn’t help but think how nice it would be to pull her in and cuddle next to her as we fell asleep in my bed. She was worth doing it right for.
I pulled away from her during the current round of kissing, and chuckled as she moved her hair out of her face.
“Damn, you look so gorgeous with the city lights shining on the edges of your hair. You are so damn gorgeous.”
She smiled and blushed before readjusting herself, now sitting on me sideways, as she snuggled into my chest.
“Don’t start getting romantic on me now, Tyler. I was just getting used to going toe-to-toe with your snappy comments.” She laughed softly. The sound was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever heard.
I wrapped my arms around her and just held her against my chest, her legs extended into the passenger seat. She hummed low as she nestled her head under my chin.
I can’t believe that, for all of these years, the person I’d been longing for had been right under my nose the entire time. I could kick myself for being so blind.
I kissed the top of her head, and she wiggled in my lap before she tipped her face up to look at me with her beautiful green eyes.
“My heart’s pounding so loud, I bet you can hear it,” I said to her as I stroked her cheek. “Not pounding, Tyler. Revving,” she said with a smile.
“Revving?”
“Mmhmm. Pounding doesn’t sound right for a car guy like you. Now you know what it feels like,” she said as she giggled while she ran her fingers through my hair.
“What what feels like?”
“To love someone, Tyler,” she said as she leaned back up and kissed me with her soft lips. If this is how it feels to be in love, then I could get used to this feeling.
“Avery, it may have taken me a while to get here, but now that I have, I want to do every single reckless thing life has to throw at me, with you by my side.”
“Revved & reckless?” She asked me playfully.
“Revved & reckless, baby.”
The End.
