Chapter Sixteen
Nic
some time later…
T oday was the day of my gender reveal, and I was both nervous and excited. My sister was in charge of everything, but Buck footed the bill. Ever since the night we had sex again, and he confessed to wanting to try this relationship thing out, things have been…different. He’s been way more attentive and nicer. Well, as nice as he could be. Like now, instead of me going to the salon to get my hair and nails done, he hired a glam squad instead. He told Kasha to find one that knew what they were doing and have them come to his penthouse and get me ready for the day. I had already had my hair washed and straightened. I didn’t want to wear my natural curls, and this would be something different since Buck had never seen my hair straight before. The girls were putting the finishing touches on my makeup when he walked into the house.
“Damn,” he mumbled when he saw me. I was already dressed in a white dress that had my stomach out. It looked like a two-piece outfit, but it was one dress that came across my breasts and had a long skirt that swept the floor. I just needed to slide on my shoes when everyone was done. “You look good as fuck, mama,” he complimented once he got close.
“Thank you,” I simpered. “You look good, too.” He wore a pair of white Denim Tears jeans with a matching white shirt that had baby blue wreaths sporadically placed all over it. He paired his ensemble with a pair of Jordan 1s Hyper Royals. His diamonds were shining brightly as usual, and I had to clench my thighs together because I wanted nothing more than to have him between them right now.
“I know.” He bore that handsome smirk that I loved so much, but I still rolled my eyes at his ass.
He went into the room while they finished and came back when they were done so that he could tip everyone since they were already paid. Once they were gone, Buck pulled my body against his.
“I like your hair like this.”
“Thank you,” I countered with a blush. “Are you ready to find out what we’re having?”
“Hell yeah. I bet Stacks twenty bands that it was a boy.”
“I know y’all not betting on my baby.” I pushed his chest, and he laughed before kissing my lips.
“Just a friendly wager. He swears I’m gone have a girl as some form of payback, but I told him Big G wouldn’t do me like that.” I could only shake my head at his logic because there was no way you could tell him he didn’t make sense.
Once I went to put my shoes on and grab my bag, Buck escorted me to the elevator and downstairs. He decided to drive his Benz today, which was rare. After helping me into the car, we were on our way to his parents’ house where the reveal was being held.
“You nervous?” I asked.
He glanced at me, then back to the road before responding. “Hell yeah. I’m really about to be somebody’s daddy. My pops made the shit look easy, but I’m scared as fuck that I’m gone fuck this shit up,” he admitted. I’d never thought I would see the day where I would see the vulnerable side of Buck DeLuca, but here he was, showing his raw emotion to me.
“We’ll be fine. We have both of our families, so whatever we don’t know, or figure out, I’m sure they’ll let us know.” He gave my hand a squeeze as confirmation that he understood. Hell, I was scared too, but I knew we would be just fine.

We pulled up to Buck’s parents’ estate, and it was only a few cars lined up on one side of the circular driveway. We decided to only invite close family and of course Kasha was here. I asked him was it okay for Jazz to come and he agreed only because he hadn’t slept with her, or even tried to. He parked his car closest to the door behind Stacks’ car.
“I’m gone beat this nigga’s ass. The fuck he gone park in front the door for,” he fussed as he got out before rounding the car to come help me out. Laughing, I took his hand and allowed him to escort me inside of the house.
“There go the guests of honor,” his mama announced as we came into view. “Nic, baby. You look so pretty.” She beamed as she pulled me in for a hug.
“Dang, Ma. I must look like shit because you ain’t acknowledge me yet.” I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped my lips because he really looked butt hurt.
“Crybaby ass nigga,” I heard Stacks’ voice. When I looked up, he was coming around the corner with a little boy that looked to be about my brother’s age.
“Shut up, nigga. And why you got yo’ car parked so close for when I got a pregnant girl that don’t need to be doing all that walking?” He had a mug on his face while he spoke to his brother and Stacks was clearly ignoring him.
“Stop whining. I hope you grow out of that shit before your kid gets here.”
“Jackson! Watch your mouth before I embarrass you,” his mama warned, and his only response was a smirk before he walked off. We walked further inside, and I hugged my mama and brother. I saw Saint and Eve along with my cousin Harlow, auntie Alli, and Jazz.
“Hey! I’m so glad y’all could come.” I hugged each of them and noticed the look Saint had on his face. He was looking at Buck, who had a similar look on his face.
“Small world, nigga.” Saint smirked, slapping hands with Buck.
“Clearly. I’m glad we cool, or this would be a murder scene instead of a gender reveal,” Buck countered. Those two went back and forth for a while, talking trash to each other while I went around the room and talked to everyone here.
“Where’s Mel?” I asked. I noticed my sister wasn’t here, and she was the damn host.
“Her and Kasha had to make a run, but they should be back shortly,” my mama informed me.
“Girl, are you excited to find out what you’re having?” Jazz asked as she took a bite of the mini sandwich that was amongst the variety of food that was displayed around the dining area.
“I am. I’m ready to see what I’m having and I’m ready for them to get here.” I laughed.
“I’ma pray for you. Any child of Buck’s gone be a piece of work.” We both laughed at her comment because she never lied. I prayed every day that my child didn’t act like their daddy, but I feel like I’ll be in a losing battle when it comes to that. We sat around and talked while we ate. Mel and Kasha still hadn’t come back, and I’ve been here for almost two hours. Just as I was about to call Mel’s ass, she came inside with Kasha trailing behind. I saw her go straight to Stacks, and I smirked because she was clearly feeling him more than she put. Especially if she left her son with him.
“Hey, I’m back,” she announced.
“You better be glad you walked through that door when you did, because I was about to call and curse you out real bad for not being here. Where have y’all been?” I questioned, with one hand on my hip and the other resting on my stomach.
“Girl, hush. We went to get what we needed for the reveal. If you be quiet, we can go outside and get this started.” She walked off and told everyone that they were ready to start the reveal. Shaking my head, I followed my sister outside, with Buck by my side and our guests following. When we walked out, there was a huge partition covering half of the driveway where there were no cars.
“What is that?” I asked. I looked up at Buck and his face held a smirk.
“If you hush, I’ll get to that,” Mel fussed. “Okay, so Buck wanted to do something different and special for Nic, so we had to be creative. While he doesn’t know the sex of the baby, he knows what’s behind this partition. This boy wore my damn nerves out, but I know they both will be happy with the results.”
“I know you ain’t talking about nobody’s nerves?” He frowned, causing the crowd to laugh.
Mel waved him off before she started talking again. “Anyway, Buck, if you want to go ahead and give Nic her gift, we can move along or do you wanna stand there and whine all day?” She cocked her head to the side with a smirk on her face.
“We’ll see who’ll be smirking later,” he responded before turning to me. “I didn’t know what I wanted to get you as a thank you gift for having my baby, and I didn’t want to wait. I thought about it, and I realized it was time you had your own ride. I didn’t mind you driving my shit, but baby, you’re rough on some rims.” He laughed after his last statement, and it was registering what he said, and my eyes bucked.
“You didn’t?” I called out.
“I did, but the thing is, all I did was pay for it and let them know what to do. The interior is customized to match the exterior and the exterior color is what gender our kid will be.” He flashed his award-winning smile, and I was speechless.
“Y’all ready?” Kasha asked.
“Yeah, because this nigga about to pay up,” Stacks yelled from the side.
Buck escorted me to the end of the partition, where there was a long rope hanging off the side.
“Alright. It’s real simple. All you have to do is pull the rope to reveal the color. So, on the count of three, Buck, I need you to pull the rope so we can find out what we’re having.” Mel was just as excited about this baby as I was, if not more. “Okay. One…tw—” She didn’t even get to three before Buck was pulling the rope and the curtains opened. Behind them was a brand new Lincoln Nautilus Black Label. It was blue and Buck was going crazy, beating on his chest like a damn fool before kissing me.
“Lawd why?” Mel fake cried. “I don’t think I can deal with another Buck.” She shook her head but the whole time she had a smile on her face.
“Yeah! I got my boy!” He yelled. “Give me my money, nigga!”
“I ain’t giving you sh—nothing. I’ll give it to Nic first,” Stacks countered. He ignored Buck talking shit and came over to give me a hug and congratulated me.
“Shit, that’ll work too.” I guess his mama let him slide because he was celebrating, otherwise she would’ve popped him upside the head.
“Congratulations, baby.” My mama came to hug me with tears in her eyes.
“Thanks, mama.”
“Nic, I’m gone have a nephew?” Keenan asked.
“Yep. You think you can handle that?” I questioned.
“Hell yeah. I can,” he boasted, causing my mama to pop him in the mouth. Between Buck and Keenan’s bad ass, my baby was doomed.
“Congratulations, sis. I wanted a niece, but I guess I can deal with a nephew.” Mel stated with a hug.
“You’on have a choice.” Buck came over and placed his hands on my stomach before kissing my lips. “Thank you for this. For my son,” he expressed. Before I could respond, Kasha came over.
“Uhm, Buck. Can I talk to you for a minute?” I saw the worried look on her face and that Buck’s attention immediately.
“Bae, let me holla at Kash real quick. I’ll be back in a minute.” He kissed my lips once more before walking off to talk to Kasha. I watched him until they disappeared.
“Congratulations, cuz. Make sure you let me know what you need for the lil’ homie. I got you.” Saint came over and hugged me.
“And let me know if you need a babysitter. Heir’s lil bad ass be acting funny with me now.” Harlow rolled her eyes at the mention of her nephew.
“Watch that shit. He ain’t acting funny. You just get on everybody’s nerves,” Saint countered.
“Girl, did you know how hard it was for me not to tell you or Saint what you were having?” Eve input. “I almost slipped up and told him one day, but I had to quickly recover.” Saint argued the fact that she shouldn’t be keeping secrets from her husband. He didn’t give a damn about a HIPPA law.
Mrs. Shaunie came through the crowd and found me. She had her husband in tow and they both looked happy about the results.
“I can’t wait ’til my grandbaby gets here. He’s gonna be so spoiled.” She gushed.
“Just like his spoiled ass daddy. Nic, baby. You have my sympathy,” his father retorted with a snort before pulling me into a hug.
Buck walked back up with a scowl on his face. I didn’t know what that was about, but whatever it was, it couldn’t be good.
“What’s wrong, son?” his dad asked.
Ignoring him, he pulled me off to the side.
“What’s wrong?” I searched his face for any indication of what could be wrong.
“I need to leave and go handle some shit. Kasha’s baby daddy finally called her. Me and Stacks gone roll with her so we can get that nigga.” He explained. I hated he had to go, but I understood.
“It’s fine. I’ll stay here for a while before I head home.”
He pulled me into a hug before dropping a kiss on my forehead.
“James is on the way so he can follow you home. Park in the space upfront and I’ll get you a pass for the back entrance tomorrow.” I nodded, and he kissed me again before walking off to his dad.
“You okay?” Mel asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. He has to leave, but it’s okay.” I assured her.
She nodded.
“Hey, Nic. I tried telling Buck he didn’t have to go with me, but that was a losing battle. I didn’t want to ruin your day.” Kasha walked up and explained, but there wasn’t any need. She did nothing wrong.
“It’s fine, Kash. I understand, and I thank you for what you did today. I loved everything.” She smiled and hugged me before walking off.
Buck left with Stacks and Kasha shortly after and so did I, when the crowd died down. As he stated, James was waiting for me at the gates and followed me back home. I was in love with this truck. It had every feature that you could think of. I appreciated Buck a little more for giving me such a thoughtful gift.
Once I made it home, I went straight to the bathroom so I could shower and rest my feet. I brought food home, so I would eat some of that and wait until Buck got back home. Hopefully, whatever he had to do didn’t cause him not to make it back to us. I know he’s into a lot of shit, but from the sound of his voice, this could get messy.
