Chapter 17
A Couple Days Later
I couldn’t stay away from my family anymore. Imani told me how they had everyone out there searching for me in the streets. It was only a matter of time before they showed up on Savion’s doorstep, and World War III would break loose. If I could avoid all of that, then I was gon’ do it.
I’d sent out a group text telling my whole family to meet me at Daddy’s house so that I could explain what was going on. I was certain, thanks to Grim, they had some sort of idea, but I wanted them to hear it from my mouth so they wouldn’t feel so betrayed.
I’d been practicing in my bedroom all morning, trying to figure out exactly how the conversation was gon’ go.
They were gon’ be mad as hell when they found out that I married him, and I wasn’t gon’ leave him.
No matter what they had to say, I had to go through with the deal. No matter how crazy it might seem.
Shaking the nerves from my hands, I left the room and headed for the garage. Since I didn’t want to catch them off guard, I was gon’ drive my car to the house, not one of the ones that Savion had bought for me.
I zoomed out of the garage and drove the distance to my daddy’s house. After I told Ma the news about Savion, she’d been kind of quiet, which was weird to me. That woman talked so fucking much that sometimes I had to silence her calls and texts.
As I pulled into the driveway of Daddy’s house, I saw that every single one of them was already here. Their cars were lined up as if I was at a luxury car event.
My car stopped behind Luxe’s Lamborghini, and I sat there for a moment. I knew this meeting was gon’ turn ugly as hell, so I had to be mentally prepared for the worst.
“Okay, you can do this, Solei,” I said and opened the door to my car.
As I stepped out, my heart palpitated the closer I got to the porch.
“This is gon’ be a piece of cake. A walk in the park.
You got this.” My hand trembled as I lifted it to grab the doorknob.
“Nope. I can’t do this,” I said and turned around, smacking someone right in the chest. My heart dropped to my feet when I lifted my head and saw Savion standing here. “What are you doing here?”
“Emotional support. You can do this. You’re fucking Solei Corvo.”
I cringed at the sound of his last name. When I was married to Zayden, I didn’t use his name. I used my own.
Before I was able to say anything, Savion opened the door, and I fell inside. He pulled me back to my feet, and I dusted myself off.
“Solei, is that you?” I heard Liliana’s voice before she appeared in the hallway.
Her eyes shifted from me and then up to Savion, who stood tall behind me without a care in the world.
I had to give him props. Didn’t anyone put fear in his heart.
That was something I couldn’t say about all the other men that tried to date me. They feared my family.
Her beige face turned white as if she’d seen a ghost. “Liliana, I can explain.” I placed my hands out in front of me to keep her calm, or else she would’ve reached for her gun, and then we’d have an entire room filled with guns aimed at us.
“Bishop,” she said over her shoulder.
I squeezed my eyes shut and swallowed the lump that clogged my throat when I heard his footsteps approaching. Once I opened my eyes, I was faced with my entire family staring at us. I was the darkest thing in the room thanks to Daddy sleeping with Ma. My sibling was half Italian.
“Why is he in my house?” Daddy wasted no time asking.
Maniac wasn’t trying to hear an explanation. His hands wrapped around Savion’s neck, and he shook him.
“Maniac!” I yelled, prying at his hands. I finally got them apart and pushed Maniac back over there toward the family. “Savion and I are here because we have something to tell y’all. We’re married.” I lifted my hand up in the air, and Liliana fainted into Daddy’s arms. She was being a bit dramatic.
“Hold on.” Luxe lifted her index finger in the air and then placed her hearing aid into her ear. “Say that again.”
Maniac leaned down by her ear and yelled, “She got married, old lady!” She hit him dead in the chest and frowned.
Wicked had his gun resting in his hand. He was ready to put a bullet in Savion. “Pack yo’ shit. You’re coming home,” he told me.
“No.”
Luxe gasped and covered her chest with her hand.
“You don’t know what this man is,” Wicked warned.
“Neither do y’all,” I shot back.
“He kidnapped you,” Maniac made known.
“And yet I’m standing here safe.”
“We’re not asking,” Grim spoke. He was a man of lil words, so I knew he was serious.
“Then you’re gonna have to kidnap me too.”
I knew at this point, everyone thought I’d lost my fucking mind. Everyone grew quiet.
“She’s more than welcome to leave whenever she wants,” Savion finally spoke, and everyone looked at me.
“I just came to let y’all know that I’m fine. You can call off the search parties, but I’m staying with Savion, and I really hope that you’ll respect my decision.” I took him by the hand and walked us out of that house to allow my family time to process what had just happened.
