Chapter 13

Knox

“I was kind of hoping I was tired enough last night that you would’ve fucked me in my sleep, but I don’t think you did.” Unfortunately.

“If you don’t stop pouting, I’m going to ask you how long it’s been since you had a regular sleep schedule with enough hours at a time in it.” Rohan was clearly not a morning person because he hadn’t even opened his eyes before threatening me.

It was sexy.

But it could also be dangerous, so I tried to be careful.

“I wasn’t pouting.” I’d just been a tiny bit dramatic. “Besides, we talked about that one, so it wasn’t unreasonable to think it might happen.”

Rohan peeked one eye open. “Are you always a morning person or is this because you got sleep last night?”

“Um, both?” I wasn’t sure I should volunteer how bad my sleep schedule had been lately. “I also wasn’t sure what the right protocol was, so I could’ve just gone down to my office to work, but I couldn’t decide if that would be rude.”

Something made Rohan smile, but I wasn’t sure what, so I just kept rambling. “I didn’t want you to wake up and think I’d deserted you or the gremlins had gotten me. So I just peed, made sure nothing moved last night, and then I came back to wait with you.”

And I’d stayed very quiet until he’d started waking up on his own.

He should’ve been thinking of ways to reward me for that.

“Did anything move?” Rohan went right to the most important part, which I appreciated.

“No.” I wasn’t sure if the gremlins hadn’t followed me or if I’d left the alternate personality who was fucking with my main personality at home, but either way I was relieved nothing had moved.

“Stop looking like that.” Rohan sat up, frowning and kissing my head as he stretched. “You aren’t crazy. You don’t have aliens or gremlins. You also aren’t as dirty as you think.”

“If you say so.” I wasn’t sure I could agree to any of that, but I was glad for the reprieve I’d been given.
