T H I R T Y-T W O Epilogue

Sarah’s POV

Ten years later…

Life has been beautiful. Life has been wonderful.

Life had been…as close to perfect as it could get.

Each day was like floating on cloud nine.

I got to watch my kids grow up with the best father and grandparents they could ever ask for.

The love these two people had for me and Carter, and Maverick was immense and unconditional.

They took us on family vacations, invited us to family reunions, always introducing the boys as “Dev’s oldest two” and letting people know that anything else said about the matter wouldn't be tolerated.

Dev was the most involved father. Going to every school event for all four of our kids, making sure that everyone knew he was their dad.

He cheered the loudest, volunteered for whatever we could.

We were usually snack parents, or the parents who rocked the bake sale fundraisers.

We were some of the most involved parents for all four of our kids.

Carter did sports year-round, same with Maverick.

Dex started getting really into basketball while Delaney was more of an artist. She loved all things painting, drawing, and sculpting.

Devereaux and I ran Silver Spoon, Deep Dish, and The Board Babe together, though we did most everything together. We were joined at the hip, just like we’d been all those years ago. Still obsessed with each other, and now our children.

Carter had just attended his first year at college.

The same state university that his dad and I attended.

Maverick was close to finishing his high school requirements, though he was still a few years from actually completing high school.

He was trying to finish early, so he could ‘get on with life’ and make a living for himself.

He was only seventeen, but so determined to succeed.

He had been very into music and started a TikTok channel for himself where he was throwing remixes together, seeing if he could get views.

After the first few, his dad bought him turntables, and now they’re working on turning it into a career for him.

The twins were in middle school now. Dex is heavily involved in basketball and track, wanting to stay in shape for basketball, his first love.

He was our athlete while his little sister, Delaney, was winning first place at all of the art shows in the area.

Maverick would sometimes showcase his younger siblings' talents on his social media, tagging them, allowing them to get followers.

Devereaux and I were still madly in love.

I wasn’t surprised, though. The man had loved me for twenty-five years and promised he wasn’t stopping any time soon.

We would take walks around the neighborhood every evening after dinner, sometimes with the kids, sometimes they’d stay home.

It was our tradition. Rain or snow, we’d be walking.

It was our time to be together, just for us.

There was something about strolling down the street hand in hand with the man who puffed his chest out at just being able to hold your hand and have a conversation that made you fall more in love with him every day.

I was just a girl in love after all.

We had a family vacation coming up in a week, getting ready to go to Europe, somewhere we’d always wanted to go and take our children.

We were finally going and were able to stop at every place we wanted to see in at least four countries.

Everyone was almost packed, and we had our passports.

As the luggage was packed, we moved it to the front door.

I snapped a picture, posting it to my social media.
