CHAPTER 14

GROMNYR

W ho would have thought humans could be so delicious?

I carry my delicious, naked and sweaty mate in my arms. I love the way she smells. I love the way her little heart pounds against her chest. I love the way her body feels, so soft and pliant and utterly perfect .

My entire quarters still smell of sex. The proof of our mating. I carry her towards my bed and lay her down there. She is exhausted, her eyes barely open.

“Rest,” I say gently as I kiss her forehead.

She has done well. Very well. I could take her again, and again, and again, and never tire of it.

An alarm goes off in the distance, and I groan. This signal means a vessel has been spotted, and all orcs need to report to their stations. It means a raid might be coming, and I can hear my crew roar with excitement.

The prospect of a raid used to make my heart race, but now I couldn’t care less. I want to stay here with this little bundle and just watch her sleep.

It’s a strange sensation. I’ve never cared for anything else but my crew, but now even an upcoming battle seems frivolous to me. It means nothing.

It’s only a distraction.
