Chapter 5

Was I getting in the way of their happiness before?

Before leaving, they didn’t forget to pick out a bunch of attendants for me.

The steward claps his hands, and a line of beautiful young men and women files out from the corridor.

The leader is a scholarly type in a moon-white robe, eyes full of feeling. He bows elegantly to me.

“If Miss wishes to recite poetry, play music, or enjoy flute in any setting, this humble one is willing to accompany you through the night.”

He lingers on the words “any setting.”

Before I can react,

the next one—a tanned, muscular guy—starts stripping, abs rippling in the light.

“Miss, want to feel for yourself? Seeing is believing.”

Suddenly I feel a chill.

I turn to look at QiYaoheng beside me.

Cold air rolls off him like ancient frost, low pressure visible to the naked eye.

His face is dark as charcoal, lips pressed tight, fingertips white from clenching—like he’s holding something back with all his strength.

I tug his sleeve, and the murderous aura seems to ease a little.

But the way he glances at me makes me feel like I’ve committed some terrible crime.

Just then, I receive a transmission from the white-bearded elder.

“Urgent matter—return at once!”

I abandon the still-unreviewed attendants and rush back.

The white-bearded elder is calmly watering flowers.

“Where’s the emergency?” I ask.

He pinches his fingers in calculation. “Oh, it’s not urgent anymore.”

Me: ?!

After leaving his courtyard, I suspiciously glance at QiYaoheng several times.

Finally I can’t hold it in.

“Are you… harboring some improper thoughts about me?”

I suspect QiYaoheng had the elder call me back.

I’m not stupid.

Day after day he feeds me all sorts of rare tonics.

My spiritual energy shoots up—I’m close to forming my core.

That alone proves QiYaoheng is no ordinary person.

And he sticks to me like this every day.

The only explanation is that he’s after my beauty.

I wait a long time, but he doesn’t answer.

Finally he sighs, as if making up his mind.

“Follow me.”

He leads me toward the central hall of DivineCapital.

Layer after layer of restrictions flashes past us without a ripple.

I glance at QiYaoheng. His expression is serious, even faintly nervous.

I tug his sleeve.

“Maybe we shouldn’t go? This is the ForbiddenArea.”

“It’s fine.”

At the final door he forms a seal, and the gate slides open silently.

A vast starry river greets my eyes.

Countless tiny lights drift like diamonds, forming brilliant galaxies.

Facing such majesty, I feel tiny as an ant.

“Is this… the legendary SeaOfWishes?” I ask.

QiYaoheng shakes his head. “This is only a reflection of the SeaOfWishes.”

Legend says the wish power in the SeaOfWishes is sustained by the DivineLord pouring in energy day and night to keep TaiyuanRealm running.

I can’t imagine how immense the real SeaOfWishes must be.

Or how unfathomably deep the DivineLord’s power is.

I’m staring in awe when QiYaoheng reaches into the star stream and scoops something out.

The flowing light condenses in his palm into tiny starry orbs that fall onto a jade plate.

An aroma that makes my soul tremble instantly floods the air.

I suddenly realize.

“It’s the real StarfallPastry!”
