Chapter 5

Sophia
T rigger was gone when I woke up the next morning, which put me in a little bit of a sour mood, especially since Chase hadn’t come to bed when he got in and was instead working on the books when I woke up. Granted, he made up for it by pinning me to the bed and eating me out like he was on death row and I was the last meal he’d requested. But still—both of my men knew how much I liked waking up in their arms.
I jerked my head up from the checklist in front of me, my heart slamming into my throat when the backdoor to my store opened. The clipboard I was holding clattered to the table in front of me as I prepared to bolt, Chase’s name a scream on the tip of my tongue before I realized it was just Trigger.
I slumped forward, pressing my hands to the desk, my arms shaking as I tried to draw air into my lungs and steady my racing heart. It didn’t matter that my attack had happened a fucking year ago. Anytime someone unexpectedly walked through that door, even if it was Chase, it sent me into a fucking panic attack.
“Hey. Hey, sunshine.” Warm, strong, calloused hands clasped my cheeks and forced my head up. Trigger was crouched in front of me just enough to bring our eyes to same level. He stroked his thumbs over my cheeks. “Breathe. It’s okay. You’re safe. You know Chase would never let anything happen to you.”
I did know that. But the part of my brain that lived in fear wasn’t grasping that.
“What the fuck happened?” Chase growled, shoving his cart out of his way as he came into the backroom, probably to grab more books. I flinched when it crashed into another cart, creating a loud sound that did nothing to calm me down. He was by my side instantly, his hand on my upper back, pressing between my shoulder blades. He looked at Trigger. “What happened?” he demanded again.
“I think I scared her when I came through the back door,” Trigger quietly explained. He smiled at me, his eyes soft and warm and safe . “You’re doing real good, sunshine. Just keep breathing.”
I gasped when Chase suddenly spun me around to face him and lifted me, settling me on the table. His lips crashed to mine in a hard kiss that wreaked havoc on my senses, and when his fingers began making quick work of my jeans, I lifted my hips, letting him slide them down my thighs. Trigger yanked my sneakers off, and then, the lower half of me was bare.
Trigger spun me to face him and yanked me to the edge of the table before sliding his cock deep inside of me. I cried out, my trembling arms giving out from behind me. Chase caught me, easing me to lay flat back on the table as Trigger began to fuck me hard and fast. His dark eyes glared down into mine, his brows furrowed, his lips twisted into a snarl.
He’d never looked so fucking beautiful.
“That’s what you needed, wasn’t it, cupcake?” Chase growled before kissing me again. “You just needed to be fucked. Just needed something else for your body to focus on, huh?” He nipped at my jaw, and I whimpered right before Trigger punched the air from my lungs, making it turn into a grunt. “I always know what you need, cupcake.”
I cried out, my back arching as I came. Trigger growled, his fingers digging into the soft flesh of my thighs as he chased his own orgasm, spilling inside of me and snarling my name. Before he even went completely soft, he slid out, and Chase took his place, moaning, his eyes rolling back in his head as he sank into my drenched pussy.
“ Fuuuck ,” Trigger growled, pressing against Chase’s back. Chase groaned, and I watched as he ground back against Trigger’s bare cock before slamming into me. My pupils blew wide at the sensual image they made together, all while they worshiped me. Trigger gripped his hips, encouraging him to do it again, and fuck, I was not going to last with Trigger touching him like that and Chase letting him.
“That’s it,” Trigger breathed in his ear, his eyes locked on mine. “Feel how fucking messy I made her hot, wet pussy, Chase? How’s it feel to have my cum on your cock as you fuck our woman?”
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck . This was better than any porn. The two men I loved most in this world were… enjoying each other. And it was as beautiful as it was hot.
“Not gonna last,” Chase panted, opening his eyes to look down at me. His pupils had blown so wide they practically took over his brown eyes. Trigger slipped his fingers between mine and Chase’s bodies, scissoring his fingers over Chase’s cock, and Chase and I came undone at the same time, my walls pulsing around his thick cock as he flooded my core with his hot seed.
And just like that, it was over. Chase wrenched away, his eyes wide and wild as he quickly fixed his jeans, his hands shaking. Trigger helped me to sit up, both of us watching him. My heart was thumping crazily in my chest, and worry clenched my gut.
Chase was about to run. He always ran when shit was too much for him to handle.
“Chase…” I said quietly, reaching for him, my heart in my throat, but he shook his head before stumbling back, slamming into one of my overstock shelves. I flinched at the noise. Trigger gripped my thigh and gently squeezed—a silent order for me to stay silent.
“I—I’ll be back later,” Chase rasped as he walked over to the back door and flung it open. I watched him go, my chest aching and tears welling in my eyes. I looked at Trigger, my lips trembling. The last time Chase had left me like that, he’d gone down a road of self destruction, fucking any woman he could get his dick into and drinking so much, he made himself sick.
“Do something,” I choked out.
Trigger sighed and shook his head, pressing his lips to mine in a soft kiss. “He needs space, sunshine. If he said he’ll be back later, then he will,” he assured me. “He loves you too much to break his word to you.” He blew out a soft sigh, looking down at himself and the mess between my thighs. “I need to clean you up.”
A tear rolled down my cheek, and I reached up, quickly swiping it away. Trigger cupped my face in his hands and tilted my head back so I was looking up at him. “It’ll be okay,” he soothed.
Why was my gut telling me otherwise?
I clenched my keys in my hand as I stared at my dark store. It was already after ten, and Chase still wasn’t back, and no one had heard from him. Trigger had tried calling him numerous times, but his phone was just going to voicemail. Both of us were wound tightly, worried and fearful for Chase’s safety.
The only time we’d heard from him was five minutes after he left, and that message had been to Trigger, telling him to stay with me and he’d be back later after he cleared his head so we could all talk.
But it was later. And he wasn’t back yet. And he wasn’t at the clubhouse. Trigger had checked numerous times.
“Trigger…” My voice trembled, fear clawing at my throat. He directed me toward his bike, his jaw clenched so tightly, I was afraid his molars would crack under the pressure. “We need to find him. Something is wrong.”
Trigger nodded. “I need to get you home first, Sophia. I won’t have you out in the middle of this.”
“What?” I snapped, getting angry. I quickened my pace to catch up to him. “He?—”
Trigger spun around to face me and roughly gripped my upper arms, gently shaking me. I flinched back from his cold, dark gaze. He’d never looked at me like that before. Like he was a monster . My stomach dropped to my feet, and ice filled my veins.
“I cannot focus on finding him if I have to worry about you, too,” he snapped, his voice harsh. It shut down my argument quickly. “Let me get you home, and then, I’ll get with Scorpion and start a search party. But you will sit your ass at that clubhouse and wait . Understand?”
I jerkily nodded my head. He pressed a hard kiss to my forehead before turning and straddling his bike. He handed me his helmet, and I strapped it to my head. It wasn’t a great fit, but it was safer than not wearing one at all.
Once I slid on behind him, I squeezed his hips with my thighs and wrapped my arms tight around his waist, resting my head on his back.
The roar of his engine was loud in the otherwise silent air, and at that moment, I felt the absence of Chase deeply . Because whenever Trigger was in town, he always rode ahead of us, leading the way home.
But tonight… Tonight, Chase wasn’t with us.
