Chapter Thirteen Purity #2
I swallowed the lump in my throat. Theres no way this man was reading right through me like this. I wouldn’t dare let him know that he was on to me. I planned to play dumb as long as he allowed.
“What do you mean?”
“Give me the real. You were missing a nigga or some. It was too much time apart for you. You had to come see about my ass huh? I like that shit Pure.”
“You’re so full of yourself.”
“And that’s the shit that you love about me. My confidence, cockiness, whatever you want to call it. It’s okay to admit you’re intrigued.”
“If I was, then what. If I say that, will that satisfy your ego?”
“You being in my house, on my couch is doing enough for me. The fact that you decided to grace me with your presence is doing enough.”
“Me talking to you or dealing with you in that manner will go against everything my license stands for.”
“Yet, you’re thinking about the shit anyway.
Tell me this ma. How long are you gonna keep depriving yourself from the shit that you know that your body and soul really needs?
That nigga didn’t know what he had, but I see you.
I’ve seen you since day one. It didn’t matter if it was the damn club or the coffee shop. I still would’ve saw you.”
“Trill why do you want me? I’m broken, can’t you see that? Besides, I have enough on my plate dealing with my child. He’s autistic and that’s more than anybody who is not of relation to him wants to take on. That’s something I can’t even ask of you.”
“You’re not broken. You are a grown ass woman with all of her own shit.
Look at you, you’re career driven, and you’re beautiful as hell.
All the accolades and shit that you have behind your name.
Why wouldn’t I want you? Don’t let what that nigga did to you define the person that you are.
He was stupid, that ain’t me. As far as your son, nothing about him or the situation intimidates me.
I’m a grown ass man and as a grown man, I know that you come with a child.
Just give me the chance to show you how I could treat you and your son.
I don’t know much about autism but school me.
Learn a nigga some, so I can love you and him the right way.
I’m not asking you to break down and be my woman today.
I’m asking you to give me the opportunity to show you that I really do want you.
It ain’t just me talking because I know I can back up every word that I speak.
I tell you what tonight me and my brother and a few other guys are going to Brave for the R&B night.
If you consider anything that I said, meet me there.
If you show up, then I know you’ll be giving me a chance.
If not, you don’t have to worry about me pressing you anymore.
We’ll keep shit just how it’s been. Professional. ”
I stared in his face. Taking all of his words in.
I believed him. Every word that he said.
In my heart I felt that he was being genuine.
He saw right through me. I didn’t know if what I feeling was that obvious or what.
He knew exactly why I was there. I didn’t feel the need to deny it.
No need to continue fronting for him or myself.
He asked me to think about showing up tonight. In my mind, I already knew what I was going to do. The moment I get to my car, I am going to hit up my girls. This was a mission I need my girls on my side for.
“You need a urine sample or something?”
“You’re being funny now?”
He just smiled that beautiful smile that I had grown to love.
He rose up from the couch and made his way over to me.
When he was standing in front of me, he reached for both of my hands.
Without thinking, I placed them in his hands.
He instructed me to stand. For a while he just stared in my eyes. No words were exchanged.
Before I knew it, I was laying my head on his chest and wrapping my arms around him.
He did the same. We stood there for a while, just him holding me.
Allowing me to continue to rest my head against his chest. It was the most natural thing for me.
It felt like this is where I belonged all along.
I felt at peace being there in his arms. Like all of the things that I had been experiencing lately didn’t even matter.
Like none of it never happened. I didn’t know what this feeling of euphoria was, but I was loving it.
He leaned down and placed a kiss on my forehead.
“I can stand here and hold you all day. Honestly nothing else I’d rather be doing.
But being that my brother and I are trying to get a handle on our pops business, we have something we have to do today.
We got a meeting that I’m supposed to be getting ready for.
Potential real estate investment. I’m trying to do right and get on this better path.
If it wasn’t for that I’d miss it just to stand here and be with you honestly. ”
I lifted my head up for the first time in minutes.
I looked in his face and saw a man that I was quickly starting to admire.
The way that he’s taking on his father’s business and actually taking it seriously.
I loved it so much. Simply because he didn’t come from that life.
Everything about it is foreign to him. The fact that he wanted change for himself, says a lot without him having to say a word.
“I love that you would do that for me. I wouldn’t ask you to though.
I love this look on you. The business side of you.
It’s a great look. I want you to be great in every aspect of life.
You’ve already had it in you. He just laid the foundation for you to be able to walk on in.
I wouldn’t want you to miss this opportunity.
Not for me or anyone. Handle your business. You might see me later.”
“I might huh?”
“Yeah, you might”, I said with a smile.
I pulled away from him. My mind was set on getting my briefcase and dipping out.
I didn’t want to hold him up any further from what he had to do.
What I was there for could wait. I loved the fact that he wanted to spend that time with me.
It made me feel good. It felt good to be wanted.
To be desired. That’s something that I haven’t felt in a really long time.
What I realized is that with Dom, I was only being tolerated.
It's all good though, that relationship is a thing of the past. I wouldn’t backtrack if someone paid me to. That nigga fucked over me in the worst kind of way.
Trill grabbed me by my hand and pulled me back into an embrace.
“I don’t want to hold you up Trill.”
“You won’t. I have enough time to do what I’m trying to do”
“Oh yeah, and what’s that?”
He used one finger to tilt my head up, so that I was facing him.
He leaned down and I closed my eyes instinctively.
My heart and mind knew what was coming next.
Within seconds, I felt his soft lips press against mine.
He no longer asked for permission. He felt he had the right. I knew that he did and so did he.
Any amount of anxiety or nervousness that I had before this moment ceased.
He kissed my lips continuously, nice and slow.
I enjoyed every second of it. As much as I wanted to stick my tongue down his throat, I thought against it.
By then it would really be over. He would miss his meeting, and my ass would be thinking about moving in.
When I pulled away, he just smiled at me. I began to walk away from him again. This time with a big ass kool-aid smile plastered on my face. This time, he let me free from his grasp. I picked up my briefcase and my purse and prepared to leave.
“I’m going to walk you out. Can’t have these motherfuckers eyeing you and shit. Nigga look wrong they may have a bullet in between their eyes.”
“Trill!”, I said looking at him.
“My bad, you know what I meant though.”
“I do”, I said laughing.
He opened the door for me and allowed me to walk out. I was feeling even more giddy inside. Just knowing that this man wasn’t going to play the radio about me. That hood demeanor that once had me spooked is now the very thing that turns me on.
Trill opened my car door for me to get in. he grabbed my briefcase from me and placed it in my backseat like a gentleman. A small gesture but one that put a smile on my face. Once he made sure that it was secure, he placed another kiss on my lips. Then one on my forehead.
“Look, I’ll see you later alright.”
“Yeah, you might”, I said again joking.
“Alright might. You see the way you pulled up on my ass today. My pull up game is just as strong. Don’t make me find you Purity.”
I just giggled like a little schoolgirl.
“Be safe alright.”
“I will. You too, and good luck on your business meeting.”
“My good luck charm has already graced my presence today. I can go ahead and let my brother know that we have that shit in the bag”, he said with a big smile.
This man was saying all of the right shit. I am always constantly blushing around him. I don’t know if this was the honeymoon phase or what. Either way, I was enjoying every second.
I didn’t want to leave his side no more than he wanted to leave mine.
For now, we will go our separate ways. I am more than sure that he will be seeing me later on.
I was already thinking about my outfit in my head.
I pulled out of Trill’s driveway feeling that my mission was accomplished.
I wasn’t in my head at all. I really do have feelings for that man.
I didn’t get the chance to make it down the street good before my phone was ringing. It was Roni and Jania calling in the group chat.
“Let me find out y’all heffas was watching my location.”
“And was! Bitch, I was trying to see how long you was going to be over there. That would have let me know if you slid down on that pole or not.”
“Noooo. I didn’t”, I responded.
“So, what the hell got you smiling so damn hard on this phone?”
