Chapter Fourteen Trill

I hated the fact that nigga’s actions had her viewing herself through a different lens.

Granted it’s not one that’s in her favor at all.

I just wanted her to see what I see. She’s a dime and if I had it my way, I wanted to have her on my arm.

Our relationship started off a little rocky, but not even in a bad way.

I just felt like she judged a book by its cover.

Most people do that shit, so I ain’t holding it against her at all.

But overtime, the shit with my dad, finding out that Savage is my brother and shit, moved me.

I’ve grown and I’ve changed in ways for the better.

All I needed now was her. I already talked to the man upstairs and let him know if he grants me this opportunity, I wouldn’t fuck it up for nobody.

I may not be the best candidate to be out here asking for favors and shit, but she was worth it.

I felt it in my heart; she’s the type of woman you get down on your knees and talk to God about.

I know me being in the streets, probably ain’t anyone’s ideal choice for a nigga. Especially a woman like her. The woman has college degrees, certifications, and more shit. No one will want her with me, but I’m on a mission to show and prove. Niggas in the streets can have beautiful hearts as well.

I left my appointment giving her the invite. She can do what she will with it, but I can’t lie like I wasn’t hoping to see her face later. All I needed was an in, and the rest will be history.

She thought the fact that her son was autistic would be something to deter me away.

Not at all. If anything, I was on Google trying to learn as much about the diagnosis as I could.

So, I could know how to handle him in a manner that is appropriate for what he has going on.

I don’t wanna do the wrong thing. I don’t wanna say the wrong thing, if given the opportunity to be in his presence.

The fact that Savage and I are trying to establish our brotherly bond, is still crazy as hell to me. Especially considering the fact that we were just shooting at one another at our pop’s funeral. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we didn’t know we were brothers. Never would have guessed it.

Would the shit have made a difference if we knew back then?

Possibly. Moving forward, we promised each other to try to do shit differently.

The only thing about that is getting both crews on one accord.

We have been beefing for so long, that they’re really not trying to hear that shit between us.

I can understand why. Everybody has good reasons.

But us finding out this shit changes everything in the game.

Regardless of all the beef that was beforehand. Shit isn’t the same anymore. He invited me out to kick the shit tonight. I promised Grit that I would try my best to get along with the nigga. He is extending an olive branch, so I was taking it.

I stood in the mirror as I buttoned my cuff link.

I laughed to myself because I was really dressed like a nigga headed to a college class.

It was way off from my usual attire. It was different, and something I’m beginning to embrace.

Life has brought about change for me. The way I dress can be an addition to that.

When I think about Purity, I felt like this is some shit that she would be proud of.

Not that I’m trying to change myself to fit her standards.

I just respect the kind of woman that she is.

She deserves a nigga that can match her fly when she has that shit on.

A nigga that looks like he’s supposed to be with her.

The street elements I possess, are characteristics that are embedded deep in my soul.

Shit I’ll never change about myself. All of that shit made me the person that I am.

It’s some shit that you’ll either love or hate. Ain’t no in between.

Mazi sent a text to let me know that he was outside.

He was going to drive over to the spot where we would meet Ro and Savage.

We decided to pull up to the meeting together.

Grit was always putting emphasis on us rolling as a unit.

I heard the saying that there is “power in numbers” a time or too. I get it now.

I walked outside and made my way to the passenger side of Mazi’s truck. Once I was settled in the passenger seat, I fired up my blunt.

“Awe shit nigga, I was too busy trying to get high. I didn’t even notice you in your prom get-up”, I said, joking with Mazi.

“Real funny nigga, your ass looks like an off-brand Morris Chestnut in a suit nigga. Morris Walnut or some shit”

We fell into a fit of laughter. One thing I can always count on this nigga for is a good ass laugh. We were cracking up the entire way to the spot. Talking to this nigga made any trip feel like a short one. All we did was talk shit, about money, and real shit.

“What’s up with your PO popping up on you and shit?”

“She is feeling a nigga that’s all. She said she might pull up tonight. I know I’ll see her ass though.”

“How your ass know nigga and she said she might?”

“Because I know my capabilities nigga. You may have the good looks that run in our family, but you don’t have the shit I have nigga.”

He gave me a side eye, with a side smirk. He knew I was getting ready to talk more shit. As bad as he wanted to ask what that was, he opted not to. Me and this nigga can do this back and forth shit all day.

We pulled into the parking lot where I saw Ro and Savage resting against his car.

A brand new black on black Yukon was there for us.

We pulled in beside Savage and parked. Before exiting the car, we checked ourselves to make sure that we had our weapons locked and loaded.

No matter the type of business I’m going to handle, I’m going to have my shit on me.

I’m a firm believer in you never know what’s on a motherfucker’s mind.

I’m going to be aware and alert for any fuck shit.

Besides, we had to deal with the nigga that took work that didn’t belong to him.

Scoring the luxury apartment complex is the first order of business first though.

“What’s good?”, I said, walking over to Savage and Ro.

We shook hands and embraced one another in a brotherly way.

All of us greeted one another in the same way.

I guess it’s safe to say that when all else fails, Ro and Mazi are going to ride regardless.

Having them here made shit feel even more official.

We felt like a crew just the four of us. I’m loyal to a fault though.

I have my own people that have been rocking with me since day one.

It won’t be long before they’re hipped to all of this shit.

I can’t stand the thought of moving around with these niggas and my crew don’t know about it.

I ain’t going too many more days with this monkey on my back.

That’s just the real in me. I’ve never been a bitch ass nigga, and I won’t start that shit today.

After we were done greeting one another, a silver Rolls Royce was driving over to us. Being the street niggas that we are, we all pulled out our pieces. Ready for war, if it was time to take it there. That was until Grit stepped out the car. We immediately stood down, seeing that it was our uncle.

“I ain’t mad at that shit at all. Stay motherfucking ready so you don’t have to get ready.”

“Man, you know how the shit goes. We’re done taking losses over here Unc”, Savage said.

“I came to see y’all boys off. Y’all got that motherfucking shit on. I love to see it man. My brother would be proud.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and just nodded my head. None of this shit is anything any of us saw coming. Gio had a plan for us all along. I don’t know where this roadmap leads but I’m destined to see it through.

“One thing your father never did was roll without security. When you’re a high profile ass nigga, certain shit you can’t do on your own.

Certain places you can’t roll to without ample enough muscle.

He had his own security team, that moved every time he moved.

The deeper y’all get into this shit, you’ll understand why.

Y’all are motherfuckin walking targets. When people get whiff that you all are Laurent’s they’ll get to digging.

I’m not saying y’all can’t hold your own because I know for damn sure you can.

It’s in our bloodline to be some ruthless ass niggas.

We’re just gentleman and businessmen first. With that being said, I want to introduce y’all to your security crew. ”

Like clockwork, four more Yukons were pulling into the parking lot.

All of them being driven by niggas in suits.

Some were muscular and others were more on the lean side.

Each of them had an aura that they weren’t to be fucked with.

Like they each held a different story. I can tell that their strengths were in different areas.

Yet, they all are there to provide protection and ensure that no harm come to us.

I can fuck with it. I’m used to watching my own back, and my boys having my back as well.

Having some motherfuckers who are paid to do it can be even more beneficial. The loyalty has to be there too though.

The group of men walked over to us and stood by Grit.

“Good evening, Laurents, it’s a pleasure to meet you all. I’ve been the head of security for your pops for a decade now. They call me Rocko”

The bald guy that was a little on the buff side, introduced himself to us. We all shook his hand as he introduced the rest of security to us. Security consisted of Rocko as the head, a nigga name Knuck, Grim, Rook, and 4-way.

“Why they call you 4-way?”, Savage asked.

“That’s where I’m from. Don’t shit move or shake in the Four way without me knowing”
