Chapter 9

SAYLOR

Clearly the man was delusional if he thought he was going to use that to weasel his way out of all this alpha-hero bullshit. “Fine, thank you for making sure I didn’t get shot,” she clipped. “Now, let me go, or I’m going to get really mad, and you don’t want that.”

He didn’t move, his green eyes staring down into hers, hard and unyielding. “I’ll let you go, as long as you promise to behave and not knee me in the balls for a third time, or try to leave. We need to talk.”

The audacity of this man…

“Fine,” she lied. “Now let me go.”

He still didn’t move, narrowing his eyes at her instead. But finally, he must have decided to trust her, because he carefully stepped back and released her hands, letting them fall. She rubbed at her wrists and glared at him. Then she spun on her heel and wrenched open the door. If he thought she was going to stay put, he had another thing coming. Of course, she wasn’t expecting the annoyed sigh, or the arm that wrapped around her waist and pulled her back so fast that she barely got one foot out the door. She let out a low growl, and then a screech as he slammed the door and hauled her back against him before turning, sending them both falling onto the bed, where he pinned her again. His eyes were glittering as he stared down at her. “What part of we need to talk, didn’t you understand?”

“The part where you thought you could order me around,” she snapped, trying to buck him off. Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t at a great angle, and she was tired. Not to mention, her ribs were still healing, so she didn’t have her usual strength and flexibility. Thankfully, he wasn’t crushing her, but she didn’t want to stay this way. “We fucked, it was one and done, and now I’m going to pretend I’m just on a quick little pit stop, do some work, and avoid you and everyone else until I can leave. Simple.”

“You really think that you can avoid me on a compound full of bikers?”

“I can give it the old college try. Now, would you get the hell off me? I’m tired of this, and I want to shower and go to sleep.”

Again, he didn’t budge. “And I told you we need to talk. The sooner we get this done, the faster you can do all of that.”

Irritation had her huffing out a sigh, but finally she gritted out between clenched teeth, “Fine. But get off me. My ribs are still healing, and the last thing I need is to have a setback because of your giant ass crushing me.”

“You didn’t have a problem with my ass earlier,” he returned, but he eased off her before sitting up and keeping his back to the wall so he could face her.

She sat up too and looked around quickly. It surprised her to see how clean and organized the room was. She could appreciate it, since she also hated a messy space, but this was almost a little too organized for her. The room wasn’t spacious, but that might have been because of the number of things in it. His bed was pushed against the wall, with a small desk directly across from it. To the left was a decent sized closet that was organized, with a smaller dresser inside it. On top of that were a few things that she couldn’t quite make out, but she turned her gaze back into the room. Just outside the closet was a nightstand that was close to the bed, with an older looking lamp sitting closest to the edge near the bed, and nothing else. She turned her head to the right, and directly beside the end of the bed was what she assumed was the door to the adjoining bathroom.

Among it all, she didn’t see one thing out of place, or anything discarded on the floor. Not exactly how she figured a biker’s room would look.

“Do you not spend much time in here?” she asked him curiously, turning to look at him.

He shrugs. “Not much. I’m usually downstairs or in the garage. It’s just a place to sleep, most nights.”

“Or fuck club girls,” she added with an arched brow.

“Sometimes. Other times I fuck them downstairs and call it good,” he declared bluntly.

She was surprised he would admit it so easily. She was even more surprised at the flash of jealousy that boiled through her before she forced it down to a barely noticeable simmer. She had no claim on him, and it wasn’t like she hadn’t slept with other people before, so she couldn’t be upset about it. “Classy,” she drawled instead. “Though, I suppose I should have figured you were an exhibitionist, with how we had sex on your bike where anyone could have driven up on us.” Then a thought occurred to her, and a slow smile of utter satisfaction pulled at her lips.

Jax’s eyes narrowed and a cautious expression covered his face. “What’s with that look?”

“I was just thinking that Leon would have gotten a good eyeful of what we did on your bike, and that’s probably why he was so pissed,” she giggled. “The one time I slept with him, he was so focused on himself that after he finished, I just left. He was pissed, thinking I should have been comatose. That wasn’t long before beating me. Safe to say he was pissed watching me with someone who could actually make me scream.”

Jax’s mouth lifted in a smug smirk. “Might be worth almost getting my bare ass shot, then,” he chuckled. “But if he was that pissed, I’m surprised he didn’t shoot me sooner.”

Saylor shrugged. “He was probably too shocked. Or he only heard it when he was walking and wasn’t close enough to us to actually do anything. I wasn’t exactly quiet.”

Jax’s eyes heated as he stared at her. “Then I’m glad he heard. That fucker needs to know that he’s not shit, and learn how to keep a woman like you satisfied properly.”

The heat and sexual tension between them sparked and simmered as they stared at each other. Saylor could feel her core dampening, and her heart pounding. Get yourself under control, she scolded herself. “I thought you wanted to talk,” she said huskily before clearing her throat.

It was enough to break the spell, but not enough to lessen the tension between them. “I want to talk to you about what’s going to happen while you’re here,” he explained.

Her back went up instantly at that, and the sexual tension evaporated as if it was never there. “Excuse me?” The frost in her tone could have frozen him, if it were possible.

But this damn man didn’t seem the least bit affected. “You heard me,” he reiterated. “While you’re on the compound, you’re my responsibility. Since I’m going to be working on your car during the day, we need to go over some rules and figure shit out. And that includes what you do when I’m not around.”

“What? You think I’m going to go snooping?” she sniffed, offended. He made it sound like she was going to be a chore, and it stung a little bit. Then again, what did she expect? She didn’t really know this man.

“That wasn’t what I meant,” he corrected. “I was mostly thinking about you getting into trouble here at the clubhouse with the other women, or the club girls when they eventually realize you’re around and try to stake a claim.”

“Stake a claim? On just you or all the men around here?”

“Both, probably,” he replied frankly. “The club girls want an Old Lady patch, and they’ll do anything they can to get it. Anyone standing in their way, namely another woman, is fair game. They try to push boundaries, and there have been scraps between them and Old Ladies before. And we both know you’re not going to sit back and let it happen.”

“You’d be correct. Those bitches start shit, and you bet your ass I’m going to finish it.”

“You’re probably going to hear them mention me,” he added cautiously.

She snorted. “You mean to tell me all that earlier wasn’t me taking your virginity?” she drawled sarcastically. “Look, you have a history, and so do I. Me getting all butt hurt over it is pointless. Besides, we’re not in a relationship. You’re free to sleep with whoever you want, just like I am.”

His face darkened and his jaw clenched at her words. “The only person you’re going to be sleeping with in this clubhouse is me,” he informed her tightly.

The audacity of this man.“Excuse me?” she demanded. “You don’t get to decree anything of the sort, you arrogant asshole.” She bolted to her feet, hands going to her hips as she glared at him. “Look, we had fun earlier, and apparently now you’re responsible for me while I’m stuck here, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to allow you to control me. If I want to screw every available man in this clubhouse while I’m here, you can’t stop me.”

His eyes flashed at that, and he instantly got up from the bed stalked toward her. She held her ground, glaring up at him when he got in her space. She wasn’t scared of him, and she didn’t think he would hurt her, but the anger in his eyes—and jealousy if she wasn’t mistaken—had her instantly on alert.

“That’s where you’re wrong,” he replied in a surprisingly calm voice. “None of my brothers will touch you, because you’re under my protection, and because while you’re here, you’re mine. No one else’s.” Then he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulled her close, and slammed his lips to hers before she could respond.

His mouth was hard, almost punishing, as it moved over hers, and she would like to think she was strong enough to push him away, but instead, her traitorous body took over, kissing him back. The two of them battled as they tried to get and keep the upper hand. Her hands clawed at his shirt, shoving it up, her nails scoring over his chest and stomach. Jax groaned, his hand coming up to the back of her head, weaving tightly into her hair and holding her steady as his lips, tongue, and teeth plundered and nipped at her mouth.

Suddenly, he yanked his mouth from hers and pulled his hand from her hair to grip her shirt, and even though she knew this was a bad idea, she didn’t stop him when he tugged, pulling it over her head and tossing it away. She pushed at the cut on his shoulders, and he shrugged it off before tossing it over the back of his desk chair, while she was already grabbing at his shirt, trying to get it off his body. He quickly pulled it off and tossed it, letting out a hiss when she scored her nails down his chest again before arrowing back up to pinch one of his nipples.

“Fuck,” he hissed as pain and a hint of pleasure streaked down to his balls, even as he reached up to pull her hand away.

“Baby,” she taunted, but then hissed when he took her hand in his mouth and nipped hard at her fingers in retaliation. “Fucker,” she growled at him, yanking her hand back and glaring at him. “Is this how you treat all the women you suddenly decide to claim, because if it is, I’m surprised any have let you.”

“I’ve never claimed a woman before,” he returned, his hand snaking around her back to unclasp her bra with one quick twist of his wrist. “Until you.” She shrugged it off, letting it drop to the floor.

“Well, doesn’t that make me feel special,” she drawled sarcastically, as her hand went to his belt. Why the hell wasn’t she stopping? She should be shoving him away, telling him in no uncertain terms she wasn’t here to be claimed or any of that alpha biker bullshit. Instead, she was shoving at his jeans and boxers to get to his dick, and as soon as it was freed, she wrapped her hand around it, stroking it slowly and firmly. Jax’s eyes flashed with pleasure, and she felt his entire body tense. “But this is just sex. I don’t belong to anyone but myself.”

“While you’re on the compound, you belong to me,” he countered through clenched teeth, his jaw hard as granite as he lifted his hands to cup her breasts and gripped her nipples between his fingers, pinching and twisting them hard enough to make her grip him tighter. He grunted and his eyes flared.

“I already told you, I don’t belong to any man,” she rasped out, her other hand moving and sliding down into his boxers to cup his balls in her palm. He grunted, and she felt his cock jerk in her hand. “Especially not when I have him at my mercy this way,” she added with a taunting whisper. Before he could answer,—well, argue—she decided now was the time to make sure he understood he wasn’t running this show. So she dropped to her knees and took him into her mouth.

Jax groaned, his entire body going taut. “Shit,” he cursed, but he had the presence of mind to shove his pants and boxers down further to give her more room. Any other time she would be amused, but she had a point to make.

She set to work on blowing his mind, using her hands and mouth to accomplish her goal. Jax’s hands wove into her hair again, cupping the back of her head as he flexed his hips, thrusting into her mouth with each suction. She moaned around him when he pulled a bit too hard, sending streaks of fire through her and down to her core. Hell, she was so wet she had to work hard to keep her concentration on what she was doing and not on the friction she so desperately needed.

“Your mouth is fucking perfect,” he groaned, even as she sucked him down further. She fought hard not to gag, careful to open her throat and breathe through her nose. She gave him credit though: even with how focused he was on her giving him pleasure, he was careful to pull back before that moment, and never thrust too hard. “Fuck,” he hissed as his thighs tensed and his cock swelled in her mouth. “I’m going to cum in your mouth, baby. If you don’t want that, I suggest you stop now,” he gritted out, even as he threw his head back, his neck corded and straining as he tried to hold himself back.

If she could have smiled, she would have. Instead, she increased her efforts, firmed her grip on his cock as she used it along with her mouth, and she rolled his balls with her fingers, throwing him closer and closer toward his orgasm. He cursed again, and with a lash of her tongue along the underside of the head, he grunted her name and spilled into her mouth, his entire body going rigid. She swallowed him down, her throat working fast until he finally released her, his body relaxing as he let go of her hair and allowed her to pull back.

Satisfied, she pushed to her feet, and then put a hand on his chest, urging him back. Too sated to argue, he allowed her to turn him and push him onto the bed, and she purred huskily, “Like I said, I don’t belong to any man. Even you, big guy.” Just as quickly, she turned, grabbed her discarded clothes, stalked to the door, and left the room.

She heard him cursing, and a smug smile pulled at her lips. She should probably feel bad, leaving him like that, but she’d made her point. She pulled her shirt on, realizing that she’d forgotten her bra but didn’t care, and continued down the hall. She figured out her way back downstairs easily enough, and wasn’t surprised to find Glitch waiting for her. The other woman took in her disheveled appearance, and grinned. “I heard you’re staying,” she said happily.

“Apparently,” Saylor replied. Even as her feet hit the bottom of the stairs, she heard the thump of Jax’s boots coming down the hall above her. And they were thumping, which clearly proclaimed how pissed he was.

Glitch chuckled. “Come on,” she said with a jerk of her head. Saylor followed, uncaring as she heard Jax stomp down the steps, growling her name. “What did you do to piss him off now?” Glitch asked her softly, laughter ringing in her voice.

“He said I belong to him while I’m here, and tried to make his point with sex. So I blew him, left him on the bed with his pants around his knees, and told him I don’t belong to anyone and walked out. Guess he’s none too happy.”

Glitch burst out laughing and lifted her hand for a high-five. Saylor grinned back and gave it to her. “You and I are definitely going to be friends,” Glitch declared. “I’m going to use that the next time I need to win an argument with Code.” She led her over to the bar, and asked the young guy behind it for two beers. The kid nodded, his eyes slipping to Saylor curiously in interest. She ignored him, and instead focused on Glitch.

“So, you work with computers?” she asked, just as Jax stalked toward her. She didn’t even glance his way, and she could all but feel the anger coming off him in waves.

“I do,” Glitch confirmed, even as her eyes sparkled with laughter at the entire situation.

“You think you’re funny, don’t you?” Jax drawled, coming up to stand beside her.

Saylor turned and gave him a droll look. “I’m often told I’m hilarious,” she returned with a shrug, before her gaze moved back to Glitch. “Can I assume, based on the information you already gathered, that you’re a hacker?”

Glitch shrugged. “I’m a lot of things,” she replied cagily. “But yes, I can hack when I need to.”

In other words, she wasn’t going to tell her.Saylor could respect that, so she didn’t push it.

“You’re not going to ignore me, Saylor,” Jax warned her, clearly irritated. “We’re not done talking.”

“No, you are not done talking,” Saylor corrected. “I am. You’ve made your thoughts clear, and you have every right to express them. Much like I have every right to ignore them. Now, you got your rocks off, and I’d like to sit here with my new friend and have a drink after a very stressful day. You want to talk more about it, you can talk to yourself, because I’m done listening.”

His face was hard and his eyes glittered as he regarded her. The two of them engaged in a stare-down until finally, he turned and walked away. Saylor wanted to feel triumphant, but instead she felt wary. She didn’t think Jax was going to make any moves against her, but at the same time, the man seemed determined to make a point. As much as she desired him, she wasn’t staying, so there was no point in getting attached. If she had to keep him at arm’s length for the rest of the week, she was going to do that.

She looked back at Glitch, who looked positively gleeful. “Alright, we need to sit somewhere and talk,” Glitch announced with a grin. “Because I don’t know how you made him walk away, but that’s unheard of around here. I need your secret.”

Saylor chuckled. “No secret, but sometimes honesty is the best policy. Right now, I don’t have the time for men, so it’s best to keep it that way.”

Glitch chuckled. “They’re a special breed; they have a way of convincing you. But if anyone has a shot, I’d say it’s you. Now, let’s go sit down and chat; I’ll call Karissa to come join us. The others are with their kids, so for now you’ll have to settle for the two of us.”

Somehow that didn’t sound too bad to her. She much preferred talking to the women than the grumpy biker that was currently glaring at her from the other side of the room. Something told her it would also be less of a headache, too.
