Chapter 19

CHAPTER

NINETEEN

BODEN

Audrey sets the table as I pull the roasted veggies out of the oven when I ask, “Are you sure having Stevie over is smart? I thought you two had a funky dynamic going on at work…”

“Yes, Bo, I’m sure. We talked and worked it out. She only has her grandma now, and she’s sick, so I figured we would invite her over.”

I give her a nod. “As long as she respects you, I don’t care what happens.”

It’s her turn to give me the nod now, but I don’t miss the shy smile and blush lining her features.

One thing about Audrey, she’s a hard one to make blush, so that has me pausing for a second.

But I’m quick to brush it off as we go about getting the finishing touches on the table right as the doorbell rings.

Audrey is already on her way to the front door as she yells over her shoulder, “I’ll grab it!”

I lean around the fridge and see her open the door, welcome Stevie in, and give her a hug like she would to anyone. They linger a while, but I figure it’s because Stevie’s grandmother is sick, and apparently, the past couple of days have been rough for her from what Audrey was telling me earlier.

Sometime last week, Audrey started acting like her normal self again, but I still don’t know why.

She said things got better at work with Stevie and she’s adjusting well to working with her.

I’m just glad to see her happy again. It was starting to worry me after the fifth or sixth day, and she was acting upset and irritated when she was home.

Nothing had changed here at the house or between the two of us, that I knew of, but she was definitely working through something on her own.

“Dinner was delicious, thank you both for having me back over. It feels like the old days when I spent my years between your house and my grandma’s. I guess life does come full circle eventually.”

Audrey smiles at her. “Don’t make me feel old, please.”

Stevie jokes, “Oh, please, you’re not old!” And it’s kind of nice not having to be the one telling Audrey she looks amazing for her age, because she does.

“Whatever you say… Oh, let’s go look in the living room at the new couch we just got!” That couch is Audrey’s pride and joy, and when they head in, I head to the sink to start with the clean up.

There are only a couple things left to wash when I hear Audrey’s voice. “Bo, can you come here for a sec!” When I walk into the living room with the dish towel thrown over my shoulder as I dry my hands off, I freeze. Standing beside Audrey is a woman wearing a pink balaclava…

The Domme’s mask.

*Stevie is in said mask.

“Audrey, Darlin’, you can’t dress a co-worker up to fulfill your fantasies…

I love you so much, but this is so frowned upon.

And this is Stevie—” I lean in and whisper like it’ll prevent her from hearing, “She grew up here too… and is way too young.” I’m shaking my head, wide-eyed at what the hell is going on out here.

“It’s Miss to you, Boden.” That voice is all too familiar.

No.

No.

No.

It can’t be.

I feel the color drain from my face. The churning of my stomach is almost too much.

We paid for our daughter’s best friend to fuck us at a sex club in Vegas.

After I set the whole thing up. Fuck, does Audrey think I did this on purpose?

Is she planning on leaving me because of this huge misunderstanding?

Or worse, does Stevie think we hunted her down and paid for a session after we knew she was over eighteen?

I’m going to be sick.

The words are practically pouring out of my mouth. “Stevie, fuck… we didn’t know. Oh my god, you probably think we’re creeps. I am so fucking sorry!”

Audrey steps beside me, rubbing my back. “Breath, Boden. We can sit and talk this out. This is what I found out and had to come to terms with this past week…”

“So that’s why you were acting the way you were that whole week once you found out it was her who was a Sin’s?” It’s all coming to me now—why she was crying in the shower and acting the way she was.

Audrey gives me a nod, and then Stevie says, “I was going to keep it to myself forever because I’m the one who felt like the creep.

I knew exactly who you two were when I turned around in my room, but I couldn’t force myself to walk.

” She pulls the mask from her head, and I feel like I can breathe for a second, but immediately go back to panicking… because it’s Stevie.

It’s fucking Stevie.

“I walked in on her in the on-call suite, and her thigh tattoo was out.”

“The pink vulture?” I automatically answer because that thing is cool as shit, and you really never see realistic tattoos like it with pink hues in them.

Audrey nods. “The pink vulture. I immediately knew it was her.”

My head floats to the tattoos lining my body, and I grimace. “I have tattoos on this meat suit of mine that are older than you, Stevie!” I palm my head, trying to scare away the headache that’s quickly forming there. “Fuck this is so bad.”

“He really is the dramatic one, isn’t he?” Stevie whispers to Audrey, and I swear they’re already ganging up on me. When I move to sit on the couch, Stevie sits on the couch beside me, and Audrey drops to my other side. We sit there in silence as I take in what the hell is happening.

Then it finally hits me what Stevie said, and my brows instantly rise because who wouldn’t be dramatic in this situation?! “Did anything happen between the two of you… again?”

They look over me at one another, and a smile makes its way to my lips when Stevie says, “I fisted your wife in the on-call suite last night…”

“I should’ve told you, Bo…”

I chuckle and reassure her I don’t mind. “As long as you’re happy, Audrey, I don’t care what you do.”
