Chapter 6

CHAPTER SIX

RORY

“Thought you were going to yell at me?” Skeeter asked dryly as we followed Caden’s car, his dark gaze flicking over to me. “Was I supposed to provoke the fight?”

“Tell me about Hunter and Marco,” I said without hesitation, looking him in the eye.

“This again?”

“I get it, you want me to take your word for it, but if you want this to be more than sex, then you need to get used to opening up and telling me things. How can you expect me to be honest with you if you won’t be with me?”

He scowled, his eyes ahead for a moment before he sighed with annoyance.

“We were inseparable. I was always with one of them. Marco and I had a falling out, then not long after, Hunter snapped for no reason and shot me. I’ve never seen him so pissed at me, and to this day I have no fucking clue why he was mad. He just kept telling me I knew what he was talking about.”

“You honestly have no idea?”

“No. We’d been hanging out most of the day. He’d gone to handle Devils’ stuff, and within hours he was coming at me with a gun, calling me every name under the sun.”

“Was it something to do with Marco? Why’d you have a falling out?”

“It was over a girl.”

That stunned me slightly. I wasn’t aware that he’d had an interest in anyone else before.

“You must have really loved her if you let her get between you and your best friend,” I said carefully, and he was quiet for a second before shrugging.

“Something like that. Seeing him with her tore us apart.”

“Maybe that was the issue? Was Hunter pissed off about you turning on Marco over pussy?”

“Hunt is many things, but he doesn’t just snap. Something really set him off, and I gave up trying to figure it out. It’s not like he threw hands at me, Aurora. He shot me and left me for dead,” he answered, clearing his throat. “There, feel better?”

“Have you heard anything about Mom?” I asked next, my hope deflating when he reached out to take my hand.

“Sorry, baby girl.”

“That’s okay,” I mumbled, perking up a little when he spoke again.

“Do you feel like a road trip? Maybe we could check out Rosevale? Surely someone would remember her, it’s only been ten years. Asking around might find some answers.”

“You’d do that?”

He looked over at me with a frown. “Sure. Why wouldn’t I? Even if it doesn’t give you answers, it might be cool to see where she went when she first left.”

“When can we go?”

“Maybe tomorrow. I’ll check with Slash and test whether his new friendship with you is legit or not. Bat your lashes at him and ask to give me the day off,” he joked, a flicker of guilt hitting me.

I could just tell him that I was sleeping with Slash, right? He might even be relieved to know it’s not just Slash changing his mind, and we’d been forming some kind of connection.

My mouth wouldn’t open to tell him though. What if he asked how it happened?

There was no way I was telling him the truth, and he’d know if I made something up.

“Hey, a blow job worked when I wanted to fight. Maybe I could convince him again for this,” I said lightly, making him snort.

“I’m surprised you left with your jaw intact. He’s an asshole. Besides, that’s my throat to pound, he can find his own.”

“We got along for a moment there. Totally worth it,” I said while looking at him out of the corner of my eye, watching for his reaction. If I kept easing the idea into his head, we could possibly get away with making it known over time.

“Look, he’s a brother to me, but he doesn’t give a fuck about you. He’s playing a game right now, so don’t get sucked into believing whatever he’s telling you.”

“So I don’t blow him?” I joked.

“No. He claims you’re besties? Then he can just do something for you without getting something in return. I mean it, baby. Don’t trust him,” he said seriously, flicking his gaze towards the rearview. “Where’d Gilbert go?”

I frowned, looking back to see that the Lamborghini was gone.

“Should I call them?” I asked, pulling my phone out.

“They probably pulled over to fuck. You felt the sexual tension between them this morning, right? Well, maybe you didn’t. You were in a sex haze,” he chuckled.

“Rightfully so, too.”

“You going to tell me all the naughty things he did to you? C’mon, paint a pretty picture and jerk me off while I drive,” he smirked, his hand moving to my thigh and sliding higher. “Or we could pull over and—”

“I can’t take another cock right now, Romeo.”

“You’ll take whatever I tell you to.”

“Aw, are you jealous that he got to stuff me twice before breakfast?” I taunted, his hand brushing my pussy over my pants.

“The one thing I like about those entitled princes plowing you is that I get to claim you all over again when they’re done,” he said seriously, pulling his hand away just as I lifted my hips to get closer. “Behave. We’re almost at the mall.”

I huffed with annoyance, glancing down at my phone to send a quick text to Lukas.

Rory: Where’d you guys go?

He replied almost instantly.

Lukas: Sorry, we had to pull over for a minute. We were talking. We’ll be there soon.

“Luke and Jense are coming, they were talking and pulled over,” I said, making Skeeter snicker.

“Bet they got overheated or something.”

“I know you like to tease them and pretend you aren’t friends with them, but thanks for going after Luke last night,” I murmured, his eyes flicking over to me as we pulled into the parking lot and started searching for a spot.

“I tease him because it's funny, and we’re not friends. I also know when to leave it alone though. They’re dumb if they think they’re being secretive.”

“Can you ease off on him? Jensen can handle your shit, but Luke—”

“Luke’s a pussy because you all tiptoe around him.”

“He’s traumatized from his mom.”

“We’re all traumatized from our parents. You don’t see us trying to bleed out or cry in a corner. He needs a firm hand to tell him what to do.”

“You’ve never mentioned your parents before.”

“Not worth mentioning. Mom was a crew whore and she died. End of story.”

That managed to surprise me.

“She was in with the crew too?”

“If you mean she hung out at the Shed and fucked members when she was told, sure. If you think you have no respect now, you should’ve seen it before Slash took over. That shit would make your skin crawl.”

“What about your dad?” I asked, and tension bled out of him, telling me storytime was over. “Whatever you said to Luke must have helped or he wouldn’t have come back. So thanks.”

He relaxed at the subject change, finding a spot to park close to the Challenger, where Tyler and Caden were leaning against it, smoking.

“I just told him to man up a little and fuck boys if he wants to. I took his stitches out while I was at it. Stop babying him, and he’d stop being a baby.”

“He’s not.”

“He is, Aurora. He’s scared of his mommy because she says mean things. He’s a grown man and could leave, but he chooses not to. Hopefully now he knows someone like me doesn’t give a shit about his sex life, maybe he’ll calm the fuck down and let Jensen bend him over.”

I rolled my eyes and went to climb out, but his fingers wrapped around my throat to haul me back for a kiss. It was hard, fast, and over way too soon.

He gave me a knowing smirk when he pulled away to climb out, and I scrambled to follow, walking over to the Challenger.

“Where are the guys?” Tyler asked, offering me the rest of his cigarette. I took it, blowing smoke in his face.

“They’re coming. They pulled over to talk.”

Tyler grinned, and Caden swatted the back of his head.

“Leave them alone. Don’t cause trouble.”

“They’re fucking, right?” Tyler asked me, waggling his eyebrows. “Tell me the gossip, babe.”

“They’re not,” I informed him, giving him the stink eye. “Stop teasing them.”

“They're going to though.”

“It’s not our business.”

“Says who? You’re dating them both and they’re our friends. I think we should get to know secrets like that,” he grumbled, and Skeeter snorted.

“Why do you care if they’re fucking? You in the closet and want to join in?”

“If I was in the closet, I would’ve happily come out years ago to spite my parents. I love pussy too much. Why don’t they trust us to know?” he demanded as he looked at me, Caden looking at me expectantly too.

“For starters, we’re not dating—” I started, and Tyler waved a dismissive hand at me.

“Don’t give me your bullshit. Don’t label it, but it’s more than sex between us and you. Continue.”

“You know Luke. Give him space, and if something goes on between them, he’ll tell you eventually,” I said flatly, ignoring the mention of us all dating.

I couldn’t avoid it forever. Hell, my feelings were one hundred percent love, but labelling it as a relationship felt too real and freaked me out.

The thought of Slash turned my stomach sour, and I knew I had to talk to him about us telling the others. If this was relationship territory, then we couldn’t keep sneaking around.

“They’ve told you though. Do they think we’ll freak out or something? We’ve been watching them stare at each other for ages. They’re super obvious,” Caden stated, crossing his arms.

“Let them figure things out on their own,” I warned, and he shrugged.

“I am. I just hate that they think they can’t tell us.”

The Lamborghini rolled in close by and I gave them a glare to shut up, and thankfully, no one reacted when they walked over to us and Lukas awkwardly fumbled for Jensen’s hand.

Lukas kept his eyes cast down, too worried of everyone’s thoughts possibly being on their faces, but Jensen didn’t act any differently than if he’d been holding my hand.

“I want ice cream,” Tyler said once he’d eyeballed their joined hands with a look of satisfaction, and Lukas looked up with a frown as he started walking ahead with Caden.

“Why’s no one saying anything?” he said under his breath, and Skeeter scoffed.

“Because no one gives a shit about your sweaty, clasped hands.”

I elbowed him, his arm snaking around my neck to jerk me against him.

“Don't be a dick,” I growled, his lips tickling my ear as he leaned down.
