Chapter 12

CHAPTER TWELVE

RORY

Josie gave Lukas and I the options of seeing a therapist or going to school. The choice was an easy one, and we both dragged ourselves to classes without much of a fight.

Tyler was late but claimed he was on the way, and it was just after eleven when he showed up in my history class.

“I’m here, my beloved!” he announced as he shoved the door open, his arms out wide as he searched for me. “Come give Daddy a hug!”

Giggles went around the room, and Mr. Galler sighed, knowing this spectacle wasn’t going to just go away.

“Mr. Johnson—”

“Hush, I’m speaking,” Tyler scowled, his eyes finally finding mine. “Baby! There you are! Where’s Holloway and Jense?”

“No idea. Would you leave?” I asked dryly, leaning back in my chair.

“I’m here to whisk you away.”

“You’re being disruptive to my education, you know?” I joked as he swaggered towards me.

“You don’t need that anyway. You can marry me and I’ll give you whatever you want,” he grinned, and I screwed up my nose.

“No, thank you.” I stood, giving the teacher an apologetic look. “I’ll get him out of here.”

“Thank you, Miss Donovan,” he said as he cleared his throat, and I grabbed my books and snagged Tyler’s elbow, dragging him through the room as people whispered.

“Aw, are you mad at me?” he pouted, his voice carrying loudly around the room.

“Stop talking.”

“Okay,” he sighed, letting me manhandle him out of the room. He was tripping over his own feet, and I hadn’t missed the fact that he reeked of whiskey.

“How much have you had to drink?” I asked as I steered him in the direction of my locker to put my things away, glancing at him to find him still grinning at me like an idiot.

“I haven’t been drinking, Officer,” he insisted, bumping into me.

“Ty—”

“I don’t know. I was drinking with Slash before dinnertime.”

“You haven't gone to bed yet?” I groaned, a cackle leaving him.

“I can sleep when I’m dead!”

“How did you get to school?”

“Uh, the car. Silly Rory,” he mumbled more to himself than me.

“You drove like this?”

“I’m fine. Took a few bumps of powder to wake myself up a little,” he stated, falling against the lockers when I jerked him to a stop.

I put my books away and blew out a breath, trying to figure out what to do with him. He couldn’t stay here, but Josie told me not to skip classes today, and I was pretty sure Tyler’s house was one of his triggers.

Pulling my phone from my pocket, I dialed Slash’s number.

“Hey, babe. Now’s not a good time,” he grunted before I said anything.

“How do you sound so damn sober if you were drinking with Ty all night?” I demanded, and there was a pause before he spoke.

“I left Ty’s at three so I could get some sleep.”

“He didn’t stop drinking and he just showed up at school drunk and high as fuck. He drove here,” I scowled, turning to look at Tyler to find him now sitting on the floor with his back to the lockers, his eyes closed as he chuckled to himself.

“Why are you calling me about it?” Slash asked carefully, and I snorted.

“You helped him get like this, so I was hoping you were home to deal with him.”

“I’m not. Just get him home and put him in bed.”

“Slash, I swear to fucking—”

“Jesus, I’m at a meeting,” he hissed, muffled sounds in the background. “Just take him home, Donovan. It’s not rocket science.”

“Thanks for your help,” I bit out before hanging up on him, glaring down at Tyler. “Get up, I’m taking you home.”

“You want a quickie in the bathroom again?” he asked as he surprisingly listened and slowly got to his feet.

“I doubt you can even get it up right now,” I teased, sliding an arm around him when he stumbled.

“You underestimate the power of your pussy. I could be dead and I’d still get hard for you.”

“That’s just the rigor mortis,” I deadpanned, his eyes flashing with amusement.

“You’d better dig me up for a weekly bounce then. No excuse.”

“I’ll gag you if you don’t shut up.”

“Sit on my face then,” he laughed as we walked outside.

I’d thankfully gotten a ride to school with Lukas this morning, so I fished Tyler’s keys from his pocket and steered him towards the passenger seat, shoving him into it so I could drive.

“You look hot driving my car,” he said randomly once I got us on the road, his unfocused eyes trying to study me. “Are you dropping me at home and going back to school?”

His voice sounded hurt, and I reached over to give his hand a squeeze.

“No, baby. I’m putting you to bed and I’ll stay with you.”

“I’m not tired. You’ll have to wear me out.”

“Trust me, you’re going to sleep,” I said firmly as my phone started ringing.

I let his hand go and pulled it from my pocket, glancing down and seeing Caden’s name on the screen, so I sat it on my lap and pressed the answer button, putting it on speaker.

“Hey. What’s up?” I asked, hearing him sigh.

“Where are you? There’s a video of Ty taking you from class. Is he drunk?”

“As a sailor!” Tyler hollered, making me roll my eyes.

“Yes, he’s drunk. Hasn’t slept either, so he did coke before driving to school. I’m taking him home.”

“Do you need help? Sorry we weren’t in class. We got talking on the bleachers and lost track of time,” he explained, not at all surprised by Tyler’s choices.

“It’s fine, I’ve got him. I’ll get him in bed and stay with him.”

“Call me if you need me. I love you.”

“Love you too, Holloway!” Tyler slurred, starting to fiddle with the radio and turning it up so I couldn’t hear my damn phone.

I held it up to my mouth and yelled that I’d call him later, then I hung up and dropped my phone back in my lap, having no choice but to listen to Tyler’s karaoke for the rest of the drive.

It thankfully kept him awake so he could walk himself into the house when we arrived, and I walked behind him, picking up his clothes as he started stripping them on his way to his bedroom.

He face-planted onto the bed with a groan, burying his face in the pillow.

“Get naked too. I’m going to rock your world,” he said, the sound muffled by the pillow.

“You’re going to sleep, Ty.”

“After I rail you. I need you to know that you can’t leave me, so I’ll give you good dick to make you stay.”

I frowned, standing beside the bed to look at him.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“You will. Everyone does eventually. You’ll choose Skeet.

Actually, Lukas. Wait, probably Caden. Yeah, you two have had a weird electric current running between you since day one.

Maybe that's what a soulmate connection is?” He was talking to himself now, not moving from his stomach, but at least he’d now turned his face on the pillow to breathe properly.

My heart hurt for him, hating that he was just waiting around for people to leave him, and I wanted to punch his parents in the face. They’d done that.

I stripped down to my bra and panties, crawling onto the bed and straddling the back of his thighs.

“Whoa, baby. I’ll try almost anything, but don’t peg me,” he whined, making me chuckle.

“I won’t. I’m giving you a massage.”

“You won’t relax me. I can feel your hot pussy through those panties. You’re going to wake me up,” he joked, his whole body melting into the bed the second I started working his shoulders and back.

We didn’t talk, and I wasn’t surprised when he fell asleep within minutes.

I carefully climbed off him once I knew he was in a deep sleep, heading to the wardrobe for a spare blanket to throw over him, then I slid in under it and curled into him.

Even in his sleep he reached for me, pulling me firmly against him as he rolled onto his side to spoon me.

I didn’t think I’d fall asleep, but I woke up to someone sliding into bed beside me, not surprised to find Caden there.

“Hey. Sorry, I didn’t realize you were going to crash too,” he whispered, his hand cool against my warm skin as he placed it on my thigh.

“Me either,” I murmured, peering over my shoulder to see Tyler still pressed hard against me.

“He okay?”

“I don’t think so,” I admitted, not sure if I should tell him what Tyler was saying or not. It felt too personal, but it was Caden. “He was rambling a lot of nonsense, but when I got him in bed he started saying how I was going to leave him because everyone always did.”

Caden sighed, telling me this wasn’t new information. “He’s got abandonment issues. I thought he was handling it better, but apparently he just got better at masking it. There’s been a lot happening lately, so it’s probably just triggering it. The drinking and drugs always make it worse too.”

“He thinks I’m going to leave him,” I said softly, and he was quiet for a second before reaching up to tuck my hair behind my ear.

“You are, aren’t you? You’re leaving when you find your mom.”

“I don’t know anymore,” I whispered, holding his gaze. “You assholes kind of grew on me.”

His mouth kicked up into a small smile and he leaned forward to kiss my forehead.

“Yeah, the Heights trash grew on us too.”

I chuckled, hearing a groan near my ear before Tyler pulled away from me and clambered out of bed, heading straight for the bathroom and shutting the door. Retching followed, and I cringed.

“Should I go in there?”

“And do what? Hold his hair back?” he teased, sitting up. “He’ll be fine now he’s getting it out. C’mon, let’s find him something to eat. He’ll probably shower and come down soon.”

I didn’t want to leave Tyler alone, but I also knew if I hadn’t eaten much, then he hadn’t.

“What time is it?” I asked, glancing at the clock. “It’s four? We slept all afternoon?”

“Yeah, I came here from school to check on you guys since you weren’t replying to my texts,” he replied as he stood.

Once I was sitting on the edge of the bed, I grabbed my phone and checked to see multiple texts. Two from Caden, one from Josie, and two from Slash.

“What does he want?” Caden grunted when he saw Slash’s name, frowning down at my phone. “You guys are text buddies now?”
