Chapter 16 #2
I clenched my teeth, trying to think of something else, and after a second of hesitation, I grabbed my Psychos jacket off the desk where I’d sat my things earlier, and held it out for her. “Here.”
Her eyes widened a fraction, but she didn’t move. “I can’t wear that here, Skeet.”
“Why the fuck not?”
“I’m not a member.”
Slash laughed, finding the situation hilarious. “Babe, everyone knows you’re not a member. You reek of sex, and everyone will see you walk out of here with it on, so they know you were just getting claimed.”
She reached out to take it, sliding her arms through the sleeves and wrapping it around her body, and a possessive growl almost ripped from me in response.
I liked seeing her in my jacket. I was pretty sure I’d unlocked a new kink.
My arm slid around her as I pulled her against me, dropping a kiss to her lips.
“D can handle the bar. Grab one of the guys to ride with you and head home,” I murmured, and I knew I’d fucked her right when she nodded without argument and grabbed her knife and gun, saying goodbye before walking out the door.
I fixed my shorts and moved around the desk to drop down into my chair for a cigarette, not looking over at Slash as I spoke. “You’ll never get those lips around your cock again. I’m glad you’re getting along, but—”
“Thanks for letting me watch. Now I have something to jack off to tonight when I get home.”
“I need you to tell me you understand, Slash. Don’t touch her,” I warned, and he gave me a guilty look that told me he’d been planning on it.
“Whatever your plan was, it ends now. I won’t let you use her for any of your twisted games.
Was that the plan? Make her like you so you can rub it in my face later that you coerced her into bed?
Prove to the crew that she’s just a whore? ”
“No. There’s no plan. I don’t want to hurt her. I’ve done enough,” he said quietly, confusing me slightly.
I let it go and pulled up the cameras, watching as Rory left with the guys. I was glad when Caden went in the Corvette with her, meaning she wasn’t alone on the road.
There was a knock on the door and Diesel walked in, scrunching his nose when the smell of sex must have reached him, but he didn’t mention it.
“Matteo and Samuel are on the way back. The stash was a bust. They had too many Devils guarding it tonight, so they had to bail when it was obvious they weren't leaving.”
I looked at Slash for an explanation, and he waved a hand at me. “The Devils fucked with your girl, so I was going to burn their stash. Matteo found it.”
“I’m a little surprised how serious you’re taking this,” I grumbled, looking back at Diesel. “How’d she do tonight?”
“Her customer service skills could do with some work. She’s a little mean,” he said with a grin.
“Mean is good. People take advantage of nice,” Slash grunted.
“Thanks for letting her help me. It got really busy,” he admitted, looking uncomfortable. “She’s getting in a habit of saving my ass.”
Diesel sucked at keeping his thoughts off his face around us. It was eating him alive that he’d allowed himself to get knocked out in Pine Valley, leaving Rory to save both of them.
I didn’t understand why Hunter hadn’t taken her as payback, but it was no wonder Rory didn’t seem to realize how dangerous he was.
He was playing the nice card, knowing it pissed me off.
“It’s good for the others to see her pitching in if she intends on sticking around,” I pointed out, and he nodded.
“It is. I’d better get back out there. It’s starting to clear out, so I’ll start cleaning up.”
“Hold up, I’ll come and help,” I sighed, knowing that was just as important for people to see as well.
I couldn’t fuck Rory then stay in here all night when there was work to be done.
That wouldn’t go down well with the guys at all.
Caden
I knew Skeeter had his kinks, I’d seen them with my own eyes before, but seeing new cuts on Rory’s body made me feel sick. Seeing her in his jacket made it worse.
He might as well have slapped a target on her head.
Whatever he’d done to her in the office had exhausted her, so I helped her shower and dressed her in one of my shirts and some panties, steering her to my bedroom and tucking her into bed.
The guys were downstairs, so I crept from the room to let her sleep, finding the others in the kitchen.
“She’s out cold,” I mumbled as I sat on the counter, glancing at Lukas. “You staying tonight?”
“We all are,” Jensen yawned, and Tyler sighed.
“Yeah. Not like there’s anyone waiting at home for me, and Slash is obviously busy.”
“You two have been spending a bunch of time together lately,” I observed, not at all jealous, but I was bothered by it. Tyler just wanted people to be his friend. He was the class clown and all the girls loved him.
The thought that Slash could use him and drop him made my stomach roll.
As expected, Tyler gave me a dirty look. “Yeah, we’re friends.”
“Dude—”
“I’m going to bed,” he grunted, heading towards the stairs.
“She’s in my room,” I called out dryly, knowing he was going to search for her.
“Hope you like company then,” he called back, thumping up the stairs.
“Do you think Skeet is letting Slash fuck her?” Lukas asked quietly, making me frown.
“Doubtful. Why?”
“They were fucking, but Slash was in there for ages.”
Jensen scoffed, leaning back in his chair and reaching out to toy with Lukas’ hair.
“Skeet doesn’t trust him.”
“But he’ll let him watch?” Lukas snapped, and I knew what he meant. I didn’t want Slash anywhere near her, especially not when she was vulnerable.
“There’s no way he’s letting Slash touch her,” I said firmly.
“His eyes don’t deserve to look at her,” he grumbled, pulling away from Jensen’s fingers.
“Agreed. Rory’s not dumb enough to get tied up with him. She’s just trying to keep the peace amongst the crew for Skeet’s sake,” I answered, knowing how much Slash pissed her off still.
“Maybe she’s playing Slash. Did you ever think of that?” Jensen suggested.
“Then what? She can’t just bury him,” I snorted, making Jensen shrug.
“Maybe it’s why she’s been nice to the Devils. They’d bury him for her.”
“Don’t even joke about that,” Lukas said flatly, his shoulders tense. “Rory and Slash are just getting along, and she’s not being nice to the Devils. Hunter just—”
“Hunter and Marco were here today,” I cut in, making him frown.
“What?”
“While we were at the mall. I can’t see evidence of them getting in, but they left through the front door when Slash arrived and sent them packing.”
“Why didn’t she say anything?” Jensen scowled, crossing his arms.
“I don’t know.”
“But she called Slash, right?” Lukas asked curiously, making me wince.
“It seems so.”
“She could’ve spoken to us about it though. It doesn’t make sense,” Lukas stated, making me shrug.
“She probably figured Ty has enough to deal with, I’d flip out, and you two were busy playing slap and tickle in the car or something.”
His face heated, and Jensen groaned when Lukas stormed towards the stairs without a word.
“Thanks, Holloway.”
“You’re welcome,” I joked, motioning to the stairs. “Go after him and snuggle or whatever it is you two do. I’m going to sleep, it’s late.”
He flipped me off but followed me up the stairs, heading to his room. I heard Lukas’ voice in there the moment the door closed, so I chuckled and headed into my room, finding Rory and Tyler sound asleep.
Tyler’s face was in her chest as she held him, their legs tangled and her chin resting just above his head.
I watched them for a moment before stripping down to my boxers and climbing in behind her to spoon her. Neither of them woke up, and it took me a while to go to sleep.
So many things weren’t making sense.
Her friendship with Slash was weird, and the Devils were starting to freak me out.
Was it a ploy to make her trust them so they could kidnap her later? Was Slash pulling the same kind of stunt? Faking kindness to catch her off guard?
I heard footsteps in the hallway and pretended to be asleep when the door opened, hearing Mom’s defeated sigh at seeing us all in bed together. I hated upsetting her, but I wouldn’t budge when it came to Rory.
We were adults, and I was going to prove to her that I was serious about her this time.
I never thought I’d fall in love, let alone with someone like Rory.
