Chapter 4
My flight to Barbados was delayed, so I arrived about three hours later than planned.
As the driver retrieved my luggage from the trunk, I noticed there were lights on inside the house.
Semaj told me he’d booked the chef they used when they visited, so I assumed it was her and didn’t give it much thought.
After letting myself inside, I didn’t see anyone, but it definitely looked like someone had been here. I thought I faintly heard a shower running, but that couldn’t be right because no one else was supposed to be here.
Suddenly, a phone began ringing, and I followed the sound, spotting it on the kitchen counter. I headed toward the kitchen, hoping the phone would give me some answers, but before I made it, someone ran into my chest.
My hands gripped the soft skin of her back as our eyes connected. Hers were panicked, but familiar. When my eyes traveled to her breasts, my mouth immediately watered.
“Solo? Oh my God!” she screamed.
She pushed me away and ran back to her room as I watched her ass sway, noticing the heart-shaped birthmark on her lower back, just above her left ass cheek.
Her door slammed, pulling me out of my trance.
I licked my lips as I adjusted my dick and returned to the front door where I’d left my luggage.
Semaj didn’t tell me Eva would be here, so I could only assume this was a setup. After a short tour, I chose what had to be the second primary bedroom because Eva would’ve chosen it if it were the only one. As I unpacked, I called Semaj. The phone rang several times before he picked up.
“Did you finally make it in?” he asked when he finally answered.
“I did. The initial plane had some mechanical problems, so we ended up switching.”
“Better safe than sorry. Everything good?”
“Nigga, you ain’t slick. You set me up.”
“What are you talking about? Set you up how?”
“Eva?”
“What about her?”
“She’s here.”
“In Barbados?”
“Yeah, but specifically, in this house, in another room. Are you telling me you didn’t set this up?”
“Bruh, I didn’t know Eva would be there. My wife ain’t said shit about letting her use the house. That’s a crazy ass coincidence.”
“It is, and that’s why I don’t believe you didn’t have something to do with it. I’d rather get a suite at one of the resorts than be here with her and her nigga.”
“Her nigga? Eva is single.”
“Since when?”
“I don’t know. A few months, maybe.”
“Hmm. That’s all the more reason for me to believe you set me up.”
“I told you it’s a crazy coincidence. You don’t have to believe me, but shit, make the best of it. Y’all are both newly single, so it works. I gotta go.”
“Hold up! Hello! This nigga.”
I shook my head and continued unpacking. I’d never believe Semaj and Elaine didn’t set us up, but it was cool. Eva was beautiful and seemed to have an enjoyable personality. Spending time with a beautiful woman on a beautiful island would never be a problem.
After I finished unpacking and showering, I went to the kitchen.
The phone that was on the counter was gone, but its absence took my mind back to Eva’s sexy ass body.
She was fit and a little slimmer than the women who usually attracted my attention, but she wasn’t skinny, by any means, and I loved what I saw.
Her dark brown areolas were prominent against her skin, and I already imagined them filling my mouth.
Her ass was plump, and the thought of gripping it while she rode my dick had me adjusting myself again.
If I played my cards right, I could be kissing that heart-shaped birthmark before we made it back to the States.
There was some stir-fried chicken and vegetables in the fridge, but not much. I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet, filled it with rice, and put the chicken and veggies on top. After warming it in the microwave for a few minutes, I damn near inhaled it. As good as it was, I was still hungry.
I rummaged through the refrigerator to see if there was something quick and easy I could make. Unfortunately, I didn’t see anything. Aside from fruit, there was nothing I could quickly make a meal with.
I looked at my watch, and it was approaching eight o’clock. I’d have to venture out for dinner, so I used my phone to see what was nearby and still open. Primo Bar & Bistro’s menu looked appealing, and it was only fifteen minutes away in St. Lawrence Gap.
I headed toward Eva’s room and knocked on the door. When she didn’t respond, I knocked again before she invited me in.
“Come in.”
I turned the knob but paused and said, “Are you sure you’re decent?”
“Ha ha!” She pretended to laugh before yanking the door open. “Can I help you?”
I couldn’t control my eyes as they scanned her body, now clad in a tank top and shorts. I saw Eva with different eyes, now that I knew she was single, and I liked what I saw.
“I ate the rest of that stir-fry, but it wasn’t enough. I’m going to grab a bite and came to ask if you wanted to go.”
“You ate the rest of my stir-fry? I was gonna eat that.”
“Oh, that was yours. My bad. I thought it was something the chef made.”
“It’s fine. I guess I’ll go with you. Give me a minute to change. Can you call Emmanuel?”
“Sure.”
She closed the door, and I went to the living room, texting the driver while I waited.
He responded quickly, saying he’d be here in ten minutes.
I texted Semaj to ask him Eva’s last name, and he responded.
I went to Flikstagram and searched for Eva Fuller.
A few profiles came up, and I clicked on the one I thought was hers.
After confirming that I’d chosen correctly, I slowly scrolled through her pictures.
“Are you actually creeping on my Fliksta page?” she questioned, causing me to drop my phone face down on my chest.
“The same way you crept up behind me. What are you, a cat?”
She giggled. “No, but I’ve been told my cat is top-notch. Emmanuel is here.”
It took me a second to process what she’d said, but when I did, I knew we were on the same type of time. Emmanuel waited by the back passenger side door, and I nodded toward the front of the car, dismissing him. After helping Eva inside, I slid in beside her.
“Primo Bar & Bistro?” he asked.
“That’s correct,” I responded.
“We will arrive in approximately fifteen minutes,” he shared.
We left the property and merged onto the road. Eva stared out of the window, and all I could see was a ball of braids on the top of her head.
“Don’t act nervous now. What was that you said about your cat?”
She smacked her lips as she faced me. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m taking in the beautiful view.”
“I want to do the same, but I can’t do that if you’re looking the other way.”
Her eyes widened as she blushed, and her full lips curved into a smile.
“I never knew you were such a big flirt,” she commented.
“I guess we didn’t know that about each other.”
“Are you calling me a flirt?” She feigned innocence, placing her hand over her cleavage.
“Are you pretending you didn’t just tell me you got good pussy?”
If her eyes widened any more, they’d pop right out of her head.
“That’s not what I said, but if that’s what you heard, I won’t correct you.”
I chuckled as I shook my head. She’d changed into an low-cut, orange, spaghetti-strapped sundress that showed off her moderate cleavage. The color looked good against her flawless skin.
“Yeah, you’re definitely a flirt, but I hope to God you’re not a tease.”
“I’ve been called a lot of things, but a tease was never one of them.”
I smirked, raising my brow as I nodded. Eva laid it on thick, and if I weren’t careful, I’d have my way with her in the back of this car. We were quiet for the remainder of our ride, but Emmanuel could probably feel our sexual tension.
When he stopped in front of the restaurant, I tapped his shoulder, letting him know I’d get the door for Eva. Before he drove away, I gave him an approximate time to return. Once inside the restaurant, we had to wait a few minutes before we were seated.
Suddenly, I was anxious to find out more about Eva.
We’d been in the same space a handful of times, but I was married, and she was in a relationship.
We were always cordial but had never had an in-depth conversation.
About ten minutes later, our drink and food orders were placed, and she was the first to ask me a question.
“Be honest. Did you know I’d be here?”
“Shit. I planned to ask you the same thing. I had no idea.”
“You think they set us up?”
“There’s no way this was a coincidence, but I don’t mind being here with you. What about you?”
“First of all, you scared the shit outta me, but once I put my heart back in my chest, called Elaine, and found out you were newly single, I was cool with it.”
I laughed. “I called Semaj too. He played dumb, but he did tell me you were single now.”
The server brought our drinks, and after taking a sip, we continued our conversation.
“So . . . what happened with you and your wife, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I don’t mind. We wanted different things.”
“You were married for a while. Did you try to find a middle ground?”
“There was no middle ground.”
“Care to explain?”
It took me a few minutes to give Eva the rundown of what happened between me and my ex. Her reaction was a mixture of surprise and understanding.
“Wow. So no adoption or anything? I know some women don’t want the wear and tear of giving birth.”
“Nah. She doesn’t want to be anyone’s mother.”
“It sucks for you, but honestly, I respect her honesty. It’s much better than her having children to appease you, then later hating motherhood and resenting you.”
“I agree, but I’m an only child, and I’ve always wanted a family. She knew that from the beginning but still switched up on me.”
“Did something happen to make her change her mind, or do you think she never wanted kids in the first place? Maybe she wanted the lifestyle being with you afforded her and said what needed to be said to secure the bag.”
“Everyone is entitled to change their mind, so I’ve tried not to think she married me for superficial reasons.
Mia definitely enjoyed the lifestyle being connected to me provided.
Honestly, most of the disagreements we had revolved around my lack of interest in the glitz and glamour that came with my career.
She signed a prenup, but I gave her our downtown condo and a nice lump sum of money and bought a house. ”
“You’re a good man, Solo.”
The server brought our appetizer, and we indulged for a few minutes before I began my interrogation.
“What happened with you and your ex?”
She laughed but not in a humorous way, which made me all the more intrigued.
