Chapter 29

Sol

I really hope and pray that Hector is a heavy sleeper like his son.

Max’s lips brush the hollow beneath my ear, his breath ragged against my skin as he thrusts deep inside me, and the mattress creaks beneath us.

My legs wrap around his waist, adjusting to take all of him.

A toe-curling scream wants to rip from my mouth, but I bite my lip.

We should have gone back to my place. His teeth graze my pulse point, and I can feel the rumble of his dark, sexy voice forming my name.

“Sol,” he breathes against my neck.

Just that. My name. My real name. I close my eyes. Thrust. His hand moves to my sensitive breasts, cupping them while driving us to every galaxy imaginable. I move my hips to accommodate his rhythmic thrust. Every moment filled with yearning. His lips brush against mine.

“Mi Sol.”

He drives deeper.

He slams into me harder; it pulls a gasp from me.

The name Sol would have had me questioning so much a few months ago if he had moaned it.

But now, Max uttering my birth name in an intimate moment at the right time is more than I can ask for.

I’ve always been Sol. Rainey was a fabricated name to cover up who I really was.

Thank god I called dibs on this man many years ago because he’s been there from the beginning when I didn’t know who I was.

My nails scrape his tatted back, teeth graze the side of his neck, leaving marks all over. Max is the type of man all women want in their bed. I’ll make it known who he belongs to. He has no problem. He only groans when I suck his neck like a leech.

Max lifts up, still thrusting. A wicked smirk plays on his gorgeous face.

The pad of his thumb rolls over my nipples.

“You’re beautiful,” he says, pinching my nipples.

“If you weren’t pregnant right now, I wouldn’t let you leave this room until you were.

” Max runs his hands down my belly. “Since we have already accomplished that…” With the pad of his thumb, he rubs my sex, watching himself thrust into me.

“That only means a ring is on its way.” He thrusts. “Soon.”

My heart is about to crawl into a bed of roses.

Max pulls out. Still with a wicked smile. Something shifts in his expression.

“Is that a proposal?”

His finger finds my clit. I close the thread of questions.

“Not yet, tesoro. There are a couple of things we need to square away.”

I frown. “Like what?”

“Turn around, amor, I need you on all fours.”

He redirects so smoothly, I almost let him. Almost.

He rubs his hands between my legs. I’m wet, dripping down my leg. “The dickhead professor said he could smell your arousal. Were you wet for him?”

Is that what he wanted to square away?

“What? God no. Of course not. If he smelled anything, I was thinking of you.”

“I know you were. Who else would make you drip at the thought of me?”

Cocky ass. Although he’s right.

Without warning, he slams into me. I grip the comforter to keep from toppling over; he’s plowing into me possessively. Claiming a point he didn’t have to make because he’s all I ever wanted, but I’ll take his angry jealousy fucking any day. I bite down, holding my screams. I’m so close.

“I never want to see any other man sending you flowers.” Who knew a slap on the ass would make a woman go wild? Slap. His hands wrap around my neck, holding me in place while he fucks me so hard I might actually see stars.

“Never,” I purr.

“Good.” His finger gently brushes the racing pulse of my neck. “I never want to see you in another man’s office…alone,” he sneers with venom in every word.

“Yes, sir.”

I scream when he flips me to my back, his powerful hands grip my waist, and his mouth slants over mine, hot and demanding.

The kiss is eager and fueled with desire, his tongue slides against mine in a rhythm that makes my heart race wildly against my ribs.

I can taste myself on him—tangy and intimate—as his stubble scrapes deliciously against my chin.

Max hisses when I reach for his wet, hard length and shove him inside me.

I can feel his smile when I clench around him and buck my hips.

My body arches, demanding to be filled completely.

I missed the way he felt inside, how with each stroke his back flexed.

His cock is ruthless, plowing into me, driving deep, and sending me into oblivion.

“Fuck,” Max grunts.

Our bodies shake with the release we both have been starved of. Before rolling off me, he plants a kiss on my shoulder. Both of us catch our breath. We stay like that for a moment. His heartbeat under my ear. Still fast but slowing.

“Are you okay?” He eyes the baby bump.

“Fine,” I answer, out of breath. Damn, I’m out of shape. “Completely fine.” It feels like I just ran a marathon. Max pulls me to his chest, his heart beating rapidly, but he’s not breathless as I am. Although it makes sense; he trains a lot.

“When’s your next appointment? I want to be there for all of them.”

“In two weeks,” I reply, tracing the letters that spell love on his knuckles.

“Did you go alone?”

“Only to two of them. The last one, Leo went with me.”

Max lifts his head slightly. “You’re telling me Leo knew all along?”

“I begged him not to tell you because I wanted you to hear it from me.”

He huffs. “I’m actually surprised he didn’t mention it to me. He can’t keep anything in, but for you, he will. You mean a lot to him. It makes me happy that you two have gotten close. Leo needs as many friends on his side as he can get.”

I pop an elbow into the mattress, my head resting on my hand. “I’m surprised you’re not jealous.”

He chuckles. “Of Leo? Never. Now, if he had a thing for you, yes, I would, but he cares for you like an older sister. Hell, he even walked out of his job because he believed the fake tabloids.” He wipes hair from my face. “He’s been acting off. Not his usual self.”

I still don’t know how to tell him about Carlos. I know what he means to Max. It’s a delicate subject, and what if he doesn’t believe me? Not tonight. Tonight is not the night for that. It’s about us—our baby.

“I’ll talk to him.”

Max nods, kissing me on the cheek. “Good. Now get some rest. It’s two in the morning.”

What? We must have been at it for hours.

Max tucks me in and lays me back on his chest. “Another thing. We need to start driving lessons.”

“What?”

“You are not driving our kids when you drive so recklessly. I think you just need a better teacher. I’m your new instructor.” He laughs, the vibration in my ear. I wish he had a hairy chest so I could yank on one of his hairs.

I groan. “Max, that’s not necessary.”

“Oh, it’s not? Have you not noticed how many times you hit the mailbox?”

I frown. It’s really not my fault; the damn thing is in my way. “It was only a tap on the bumper. You act like I completely ran it over.”

He snorts, and I pinch his nipple. “Only? I beg to differ. The damn thing swings side to side, and the flag hangs by a thread. Who do you think goes to the house and fixes it for you every day? And pulls out those small dents on your car.”

“I didn’t…know.” I turn my head slightly to look at him. “What else have you done?”

“Every meal Leo has bought you was from me.”

“Thank you. I wish I could say I’ve noticed. My head has been a mess; you know that.” I scoot to kiss his lips. “Fine. You can be my instructor.” I know it means a lot since that’s how he lost his mom. “You’d make a great passenger princess,” I tease.

“I hope it comes with good perks,” he teases back.

“Oh, nothing but the best. You’ll see.”

“I’ll hold you to that.” Max’s arms wrap around me tightly. “Also, what the hell were you thinking, breaking windows while pregnant? You could have harmed the baby and yourself.”

“I was thinking out of jealousy,” I admit. “I did cover up.”

He exhales. “I know and I’m sorry for that.”

One thing has been on my mind that I haven’t asked.

His eyelids are closing.

“Max,” I whisper.

“What is it?”

“Why did you stop calling me Rainey?”

He pushes back to lift my chin, so our eyes meet.

“Because I knew you. Sol is the name given to you at birth. It’s who you are, mi Sol.

I knew once you started to find yourself—really find yourself—you’d go by the name that meant more.

” Max caresses my face, his long eyelashes fluttering, even in the dark.

“You’ll always be my Rainey too. It’ll always be part of you.

” He’s quiet. “There is always sun after the rain.” He’s silent.

We both are. I wait for him to finish. Then I hear his snores.

Well, that was that. I cuddle into his arms and drift to sleep.

The alarm goes off, and I’m already half-awake, listening to the sounds of the house.

Birds outside. Something cooking downstairs.

Max’s arm reaches over me to silence it.

I press my face into the crook of his neck, my leg over his body.

I can feel his morning wood poking at me.

I moan, inhaling his scent. He rolls over on his back, taking me with him.

“Buenos días, preciosa.” Max’s husky morning voice is hot as hell. Especially the good morning, precious, he said in our native tongue. It’s like butterflies take flight in my belly.

“Buenos días, how did you sleep?” I ask, running my fingers through his hair. He closes his eyes, completely content.

“Good, now that you’re here with me.” His hand finds my hip, sliding lower.

I could use a good butt massage with all the tension going straight to it, and last night didn’t help.

I should avoid sex for the next couple of days, but damn, does he make it hard when I can feel him under me, and immediately I’m ready for him again.

Sitting up straight, I straddle him. He rubs my small baby bump.

“I can’t believe you really never noticed.”

“I did notice you pulling on your shirt. I thought you just felt uncomfortable.”
