Chapter 14
Chapter Fourteen
Last night, Heath had scooped Cara up into his arms and carefully climbed out of the hot tub. He toweled her off while Dayne shut off the jets and covered the still-steaming tub.
While having sex in a hot tub wasn’t new to him, having it with Cara, then watching Dayne do the same with her, quickly moved the experience up toward the top of his list as a favorite. It might be replaced quickly since they still had the rest of the week together.
As long as no issues popped up between them.
After he carried her into his cabin, Dayne followed and none of them rushed to get dressed. Instead, they all collapsed on his bed, still naked. Heath took that as a sign they weren’t finished for the night. As long as Cara was willing, that was.
If she decided to leave, whether due to being too tired or because she’d had enough of them for the night, then Dayne was always welcome to stay behind, if he was interested in further action.
Because Heath sure was .
Cara’s eyelids quickly turned heavy as they sprawled out over the oversized mattress. But before they had sex again— if they had that chance—he was curious about what she might consider her limits.
He had started with the obvious. “You like your hair being pulled.”
“Apparently.” She appeared surprised at that discovery herself.
“What else do you like?” He’d rather ask than assume, even though she might not know those answers yet. “Do you want us to spank you?”
She chewed on her bottom lip for a moment before answering, “I don’t know.”
“Did you enjoy it when you were bitten?”
“Yes.”
“Would you want it done harder? Hard enough to leave an impression in your skin?”
She considered his question. “Maybe. It depends.”
At least it wasn’t an outright no. That might be one area they could explore further. “Tie you up?”
She hesitated.
Dayne impatiently picked up from there. “Gag you? Blindfold you? The sky’s the limit, Cara. Your limits are yours and yours alone. We will respect whatever they are, so always feel free to make suggestions.”
“I’m simply trying to see what you think your hard limits are at this point.
That doesn’t mean you can’t try new things, whether you’re unsure or not, and you can always change your mind.
” He met Dayne’s eyes since the resort owner was now lying on his side with his dark blond head propped in his hand.
“No matter what, we’re both willing to help you figure out what you enjoy or don’t.
We don’t expect you to like everything or even the same things we do.
You have your own desires and needs. So will we.
And like Dayne said, make suggestions. I can’t speak for Dayne, but I’m up for almost anything. ”
She cupped his cheek. “I do appreciate your willingness to assist me this week.” The sincerity of her words made his heart skip a beat. She glanced over at Dayne. “Both of you.”
“Well, we also don’t want to be selfish. We’re both willing to be available to you, to help in any way, but don’t take that as if you can’t find others to do the same.” Heath didn’t want her to feel obligated to spend time with either him or Dayne. This was not an exclusive arrangement.
“Hey, speak for yourself.” Dayne yawned loudly. “I think it’s time to take a little nap.”
A nap wasn’t the only thing that happened after that. But later, when they had sex again, both he and Dayne focused on Cara once more and not each other, other than some kissing, touching, and teasing.
Heath was so ready to do more with Dayne, whether Cara was present or not.
But now that the sun had risen, he blinked up at the ceiling, realizing they had all fallen asleep in his bed. Since his limbs were entangled with a sleeping Cara’s, he carefully extracted himself, doing his best not to wake her. At least until he figured out where Dayne was.
Once he was clear and on his feet, movement just outside the bedroom door caught his attention. He quickly, but quietly, yanked on a nearby pair of shorts and headed out of the bedroom.
Dayne was finishing up pulling on his clothes.
Heath closed the door behind him so they wouldn’t disturb Cara. “Ditching us already?”
Wearing a crooked grin Heath found very damn sexy, Dayne shook his head. “Not a chance. I want to go for a run before I put on my CFO hat for the day.”
No wonder the man was so lean and muscular. Though, he probably did more than running. “How far do you run?”
“I try to do five at least three times a week.”
“I’m the same but I do it on a treadmill in my building’s gym.”
“I’ll be stuck using a treadmill once the weather turns to shit, but right now it’s perfect running weather and the view can’t be beat.” Dayne’s head tipped to the side. “Want to join me?”
The offer was tempting despite the fact he was still tired from the long day yesterday—between traveling and everything else—as well as last night’s events.
He glanced back at the closed bedroom door. Cara could use some uninterrupted sleep. The shadows under her eyes were proof they had kept her up too late last night.
He returned his attention to the man waiting for an answer. “I’ll join you.”
Dayne nodded. “I need to head back to the house to change. Want to meet me by the barn?”
“Sure. I’ll leave her a note so she doesn’t think we’ve abandoned her.”
Dayne usually didn’t spend more time with a guest other than what it took to say hello or check in with them to make sure they were enjoying their stay.
One exception was the time it took to eat breakfast after having sex with them all night.
Dani’s delicious breakfasts were the least he could do to thank any participants ending up in his bed.
He certainly didn’t go for a run with any of them. Besides providing exercise, breathing in the fresh air and taking in the mountain views, running normally helped clear his head. It was a good start to a workday before numbers filled his gray matter.
After stretching, both he and Heath took off at an easy jog to warm up. They headed down the dirt road toward his favorite trail in the state game lands butting up against the resort. Now was the time to take that trail before hunting season was in full swing.
“Have you ever run on a trail before?” Dayne asked him.
“No. I live in Hoboken where there’s not a dirt trail to be seen. I’ve run outside a few times, but like I said, I usually use my building’s gym. It’s pretty badass.”
“Do you live in a condo?”
“Penthouse.”
Damn. “That had to set you back.”
“It did. Of course, I’m still paying for it and will be for a long time, but it was worth it since it’s close to the city, top restaurants, and entertainment.
The beach is within driving distance. So are airports.
Another positive is, it’s only about a four-hour drive here. Have you always lived in this area?”
“No. Once I left for college, for obvious reasons I stayed gone until my father died and left the farm to me and my brother.”
“Are you glad to be back?”
“Now I am,” Dayne answered honestly. “I wouldn’t have stayed if we had sold off the dairy farm instead of building the resort.”
“That’s right. You told us this used to be a dairy farm on our tour yesterday.”
“My brother and I couldn’t wait to escape. It turns out, we both prefer milking cocks over milking cows.”
Heath barked out a laugh .
“Watch your step and don’t roll your ankles. Keep an eye out for loose rocks and downed branches on our path,” Dayne warned as they veered off into the woods onto a narrow dirt trail.
“Do you normally wear a hydration vest?” Heath asked next.
“Yep. Besides water, it’s smart to carry bear spray.” Dayne patted one of the pockets. “Plus, it holds my cell phone and some other stuff.”
Heath’s head began to swivel. “There are bears around here?”
“You haven’t noticed them?”
Heath slowed down for a second and fell back. When he caught up, he was chuckling and shaking his head. “I meant the kind that walks on four legs, not two. And I’ve never been into bears, the two-legged kind.”
Dayne shrugged as he picked up the pace a little.
So far, Heath had no problem keeping up, even on uneven terrain.
“Black bears will try to avoid humans, but you just never know. They also aren’t the only wild animals around here, so it can’t hurt to be both aware and prepared. Especially when I’m running alone.”
“Good to know.” A second later, Heath said, “I’m assuming you’re not married. And if you are, I hope you have an open relationship with your spouse.”
The subject change gave him whiplash. “No, I never married.” He never had the desire to tie himself down to one person.
“Any kids?”
Was this only small talk or was Heath attempting to get to know him better? “No. I was never in a rush to settle down and become domesticated.” He actually valued his freedom to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. As long as it was legal, of course. “You?”
Heath shook his head as he ran by his side. The path was narrow enough that they kept bumping shoulders. They could run single file. In fact, if he told Heath to run in front of him, he could watch his ass bounce in those black silky running shorts he wore, or the muscles flex in his long legs.
Dayne couldn’t wait for the chance to throw those legs up in the air and plunge?—
“Divorced, remember?”
Dayne shook himself mentally. He needed to pay attention to obstacles on the trail. “Ah yes. You did mention an ex last night at dinner. Sorry to hear that.”
“It was for the best.”
“She left you?”
“Yes, and unfortunately, I’m still financially recovering. When she left, so did most of my money, including savings and investments.”
“Really? And you own a penthouse in Hoboken?” How rich had he been before his divorce? Or had he been living above his means?
“Right now, the bank and I own it. The bright spot was, she quickly found her next man—who she told me is a real man, by the way—and the alimony payments will stop once she remarries. Hopefully soon.”
