Chapter 13 #3
It was annoying how perfectly proportioned his face was.
He had the kind of sharp, angular jawline that looked like it had been chiseled by someone who’d taken their time.
I tried to focus on what he’d commanded I do, but my eyes kept tracking the straight line of his nose and the dark, thick sweep of his eyelashes.
He was entirely too attractive for my peace of mind.
He placed one glass on the table, nodding as if offering a reward after I’d been a very good girl.
There was a slight smirk on his face just before I began. I was struck by how freeing the moment was once again.
While there was no music, unless you considered the rapid hammering of my heart and the way it echoed in my ears, there didn’t need to be.
Suddenly, the space between us felt thick, almost heavy, as if the air itself was begging to be compressed.
My skin pricked with a sudden, sharp heat right where his hand had rested only moments before.
I found myself watching his knuckles, tracing the sharp line of his wrist, violently wishing he would close the distance between us.
Only when I’d accomplished the required task. The mask he wore was similar if not identical to the one he’d worn weeks before, which added questions in my mind. Had he planned on our interaction since learning of the wedding? No, that didn’t make any sense.
Being Drake’s friend, he would likely have no idea I was a bridesmaid. There were so many questions rushing through my mind, which boosted the rush of adrenaline.
And I so I began a little dance, a striptease. Little did he know I wasn’t a virgin when it came to doing so.
For whatever reason, I could easily fall back into one of many routines, the mask allowing me to be that girl again, if only for a little while.
A onetime dance only.
The moment wasn’t just freeing, but a small event allowing me to momentarily embrace the woman I’d once been, even though I’d been little more than a girl.
Yet this time, I felt in complete control.
With every twist of my body, every turn and gyration of my hips, I knew I had Christian’s rapt attention.
At first, he was completely at ease, lifting his glass and holding the dense crystal a couple of inches in front of his face. Forever watching me as I’d experienced at the church.
As well as in the ballroom of the conference.
And a few times during the last ten days since my return. Was it possible he lived in town, had discovered where I lived and had been stalking me?
If so, why wasn’t I afraid or at least apprehensive?
There was no rhyme or reason the excitement continued to build, but as soon as I was at the point of sliding one strap down my arm then the other, I was so lost in the moment I was close to experiencing nirvana.
How was that possible? I was fluid in my motions, even kicking my leg high into the air.
Now he was on the edge of his seat, fingering the glass in his hand just before I turned away from him.
I used the reflection of the glass, able to keep my eyes on him and watching his expression as they changed.
All while dancing to unseen music, a piece so provocative I felt the beats all the way to my toes.
I was free with my movements, allowing gravity to slowly take the material past my chest to my waist. When I turned around again, I covered both breasts while leaning against the glass, keeping my eyes closed just long enough to make him wonder what I was thinking.
Soon after, I slid both hands to where the material rested on my hips, slowly turning to face him.
His chest rose and fell with heavy, labored breaths and his nostrils were flared.
Christian thought he was just watching, but I could see what my movement was doing to him. The sudden tightness in his jaw told me everything. He wasn’t just entertained; he was consumed.
A slow, wicked warmth bloomed in my chest. I wasn’t just dancing anymore; I was commanding the room, and he was completely at my mercy. My pussy throbbed, enough so I clenched my muscles in a sweet anticipation of what I knew would happen very soon.
I kept my eyes locked on his, watching the exact moment his casual smile faded into something much darker, much hungrier. It made my heart race faster than the choreography had. As I shimmied the material over my hips, I took and held a deep breath.
He was struggling to breathe, the intake even sharper than before.
Seeing how much he wanted me stripped away my self-consciousness. It felt raw and real. My next steps became slower, heavier, meant entirely for him. As I kicked out of the dress, he took another sip before thudding the glass onto the table.
The way he steepled his hands was as telling as every other gesture he’d made.
He was losing his patience.
Little did he know I felt the same way as the pain of wanting him for so long began to take its toll.
I was nervous, my entire body quivering and my mouth was watering in anticipation of tasting every inch of him.
His predatory look increased even as I returned to the dance, but seconds later, the music faded from my mind and my heart.
All because of the way he beckoned to me with his finger.
“Come, Penelope. I need you.”
