Chapter 21
Chapter
Twenty-One
EMERY
My moms walked over to me and took my hand. She had been trying her best to keep me calm, but I was already dangling off the ledge of insanity.
“We’re going to find her, Emery. I promise.” While they wanted to wait to see if someone took Yumi for ransom, I was ready to end the fucking world. I drew a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to keep calm. That shit didn’t work.
Fuck this!
I shot up from my seat and stormed toward my parents’ door.
“Emery!” Moms yelled after me. “Get y’all asses out and go with him!
” she continued as I hopped in my whip with Mill and Mook jumping in with me.
Nothing needed to be said as I peeled out of their driveway, heading to my first destination.
I could see the multiple cars following me closely while I sped through the city to kill a few dummies.
Motherfuckas wanted to play with their lives, and that was the craziest shit to me. They knew how I was coming, so this shit was beyond me. I didn’t have any enemies as far as I knew, so I couldn’t understand any of this shit.
I couldn’t lose Yumi.
I just got her back, and I refused to let anyone harm her.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” I yelled, pounding my fist on the dashboard.
“I’m usually the voice of reason in these situations, but at this point, I can’t even say shit about how you feeling. I’m on whatever you on, Cuddy,” Mook said.
Emil shook his head. “Niggas just got off a murder trial, and now they want us on another one.”
“Ain’t gon’ be another trial. These bitches are dying tonight,” I said, whipping through traffic until I reached my destination. I sped through the surprisingly open gates with ten black trucks on my follow-up. I was barely able to get the car in park before we all jumped out, guns in hand.
Four guards stood guarding the house as I approached.
“Em—” Before the first guard could get a word out, I sent a bullet flying through his forehead. That prompted my team to rain bullets on the other guards standing in my way.
I pushed open the French doors and proceeded down the hall, where I knew his study was.
“Team one, take the east wing; team two, take the west. Find that bitch,” I said, continuing my stride with Mill and Mook behind me.
I spotted the team of maids and sent bullets their way.
The butler turned the corner, and once he saw me with the gun, he tried to run but caught a bullet in his back.
Finally making it to the study, Emil kicked the door in to find Torrance getting head from his maid. They both jumped as I sent a bullet soaring through his arm.
The ho ass maid screamed, and I sent a bullet in her mouth.
“Ahhh, fuck! What the fuck, Emery!” Torrance cried out, holding his arm. I grabbed him by the back of his neck and pushed him onto the leather couch.
“I warned yo’ bitch ass. I warned you. What did I tell you, Banks?”
His face twisted from the pain in his arm as he looked up at me.
“I told her to stop this shit! She wouldn’t listen.
You broke her fucking heart, and she hasn’t been right since.
I tried to talk to you for her, but you were adamant about not being with her.
So, she flipped. I told her not to do it, Em! ”
“What does his not wanting to be with your daughter have to do with us, though?” Mook asked what I wanted to know.
“I don’t know, man. Just, please, don’t hurt her. You guys are free, and she won’t bother you again. I promise!”
“Where the fuck is she?”
“In Atlanta with her grandmother.” I sent a bullet in his kneecap. “Ahhhh! Come on, man!”
“Stop fucking lying to me!” Another bullet was sent to his other arm. “The next one is going in your fucking skull.” I released the clip and added another.
“Okay! Okay! Please. Just talk to her, Emery. Don’t hurt my daughter. Please.”
“You got until the count of five to tell me where she is. One.”
He stood and limped his ass out of the study. We followed him to the elevator and got on. When the doors opened, I grabbed Torrance and put him in front of me just in case my people hadn’t made it up here yet to take out anybody standing in my way.
He hung a right and limped down the hall to a room that was locked. I shot the lock off and kicked the door in. Normani stood with her gun lifted, pointed right at me.
“Stay back!” she yelled.
“You’re outgunned. Put that shit down, and let’s talk about it,” I told her, still holding Torrance by the neck.
“Fuck you!”
“Put the gun down, baby girl. Please.”
“No. He’s going to kill me!”
“Was it worth all this, Normani? Huh? Was it worth your father getting shot the fuck up because of you?”
“I wanted a life with you, and you played me! You fucked me like you wanted me, then turned around and spit in my fucking face! So, when Mill and Mook got caught up on those charges, I was going to testify just to hurt you. I knew you didn’t want them in prison, so I was going to make sure they went, but your bitch girlfriend was too fucking good!
Even if you didn’t pay off that judge, she would have won the case anyway.
That’s what Cason told me since I wanted to stay anonymous! ”
“Bitch, I should put a bullet in you for that stupid ass bullshit!” Emil yelled.
“No! Don’t! We can hash this shit out, Emery. No crime was committed here. Your brother and your cousin are free. Let’s just let this go. I promise she won’t bother you again!”
I stared at Normani, wanting to take her head off. I pushed Torrance away, then signaled for Mill and Mook to follow me out. I wanted Normani to think shit was sweet, but I had a different plan for her. That bitch wasn’t out of the woods yet.
“You better thank God your little tacky ass plan didn’t work,” I told her right before I made my exit.
We walked through the house, stepping over dead bodies, and got back inside my whip.
“Let’s move out,” I told my team. “Lou and Kevin, fade out. When you see that bitch leave this house, grab her ass and take her to the warehouse.”
“Got you, boss.” They agreed as I got inside and peeled off. I called Amari because I was tired of fucking waiting on some shit to shake. I needed my wife found now.
“Brother Emery. I’m still working on that for you. Give me a few more minutes.”
“Amari, I don’t have a few more minutes. Every minute she’s not in my sight is making me lose every bit of patience.”
“I know, bro. I’m getting it together as fast as I can. But I scrubbed her phone as you said, and that same encrypted number texted her right before they grabbed her.”
“What did it say?”
“That she should have dropped the case.”
“This shit is weird to me. Get me some information ASAP, Mar, or this shit ain’t gon’ be good for nobody, not even you.”
“I’m on it.”
I hung up on his ass and headed toward the restaurant. Somebody in that bitch was going to tell me something.
“Run the cameras back one more time for me,” I told the manager, holding his ass at gunpoint. He was shaking like a leaf, and although I may have been a little over the top, I was losing my shit the longer Yumi was away from me.
She was drunk when I talked to her. Her cousin and Carmen swore they didn’t know what happened and were distraught when they called me from her phone, which was left on the ground.
I felt guilty because I should have still had my security following her.
I may have killed the nigga that sent the letter, but I still hadn’t found who sent his bitch ass.
Since the case was over, I didn’t think the motherfuckas still wanted smoke, but obviously, I was wrong. I kept thinking about what was happening to her. Were they torturing her? Fucking her? Doing volatile shit to her?
“Hurry the fuck up!” I yelled at his ass. I was two seconds from ending this nigga with the shit that was going through my head.
My phone buzzed with a message on my burner.
Team: Got it secured at the warehouse.
I put my phone away just as the nigga found the footage of Yumi and her girls. I saw Yumi stand and go to the back, I assumed to go to the restroom. That was for sure when she called me. A couple of minutes later, she returned, then got up, and went outside.
“Show me the outside footage.” He hurriedly went to the outdoor cameras, and I saw Yumi go to her trunk.
It didn’t take long to see that a car pulled right behind her at a distance, and two masked men jumped out right when she was looking at her phone.
I could see fear and confusion cross her face before those bitch ass niggas grabbed her, knocking her out with a rag over her face.
They tossed her in the car, got in, and pulled off.
“Pause it right there!” He paused it. “Zoom in on the license plate.” He did as he was told, and I pulled up my camera, snapping a picture of it before leaving his office.
I sent the picture to Amari, telling him to run the plate number. He hit me back within minutes, and the name he gave me put me in a bigger state of confusion than I already had been.
What the fuck?
