Maddox #3

As soon as he was close enough to reach him, I grab him by the arms and spin him around into the fence. I pin him in place with my knee, shoving it between his legs. A whimper from him almost makes me feral as I caress his cheek and he nuzzles into my hand.

Standing on tiptoes to reach his ear, my breath blows hot across his neck and he shivers as I whisper, “Wasn’t so hard now was it?” my knee shifting slightly to give his semi-hard cock some attention. He moans, and I smirk knowing that I have him right where I want him.

I move to kiss him and he clamps his lips together leaving me to tease the seam of his mouth with my tongue.

He squirms and I hear a small gasp as my knee makes contact with his hardon.

The gasp gives me just enough room, allowing me the opportunity to claim his mouth.

Demanding and dominating the kiss, I groan as his hands fist the front of my jump suit.

I tease him with my knee for a few more minutes before, without warning, I step back, breaking all contact.

He slumps forward, his body chasing me as he pleads for more with his eyes and I shake my head no. Turning, I walk to a table and sit, pointing at the seat across from me, I eye his movements as he follows.

Once we were settled in our seats, I reach over and pull him across the table by his shirt to whisper, “Only good boys get rewards, and you haven’t been good, have you?”

The frustrated sigh he releases shows I struck a nerve, and his soft reply of “No,” grumbled under his breath told me that he was far from done being a brat. ‘That’s okay, Kitten. Be a brat. It’s a good thing I know how to tame you,’ I think, biting my lip.

Letting him go, I sit back with a smirk and a sinful glint in my eyes, adjusting my jumpsuit as I stare him down, “So you wanna explain what the fuck the past few months have been about?”

Kai twisted the string on his hoodie, avoiding eye contact with me. With a heavy sigh, I tap the table in front of him, “Kai, Darlin’, talk ta me. What’s going on in that pretty little head? Tell me. Please?” I ask softly.

Finally, he looks up at me and I see wetness in green eyes darkened with sadness. He grabs my hand and I hold on tight as he says the words I never wanted to hear from him, “I failed. I can’t get us outta here.”

As soon as the words fall from his lips, it was as if a dam broke as tears flowed down his freckled cheeks.

I quickly stand and pull him with me to settle against the fence.

I lean back, spreading my legs, and pull him down to sit between them.

Wrapping my arms around him, I hold him tightly as he let it all out.

I glance over and see Cas standing at the door.

Making eye contact, he nods, letting me know that has me covered for a few minutes.

I hold him close, kissing the top of his head as he sobbed and shook.

He had a death grip on my arms and was babbling something that I couldn’t understand through his sobs.

All I could do was rub his back and let him hold onto me.

Sitting against the fence, I rocked him in my arms, whispering to him as he started to calm down, “Darlin’ it’s okay. I gotchya. Let it out. Let it all out. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there.”

It was weak, but Kai hit my shoulder as his body-wracking sobs slowed down and he was able to speak more clearly. “You weren’t there! I needed you! Was so scared and you weren’t there. So mad at you. And when West Point said no and I knew you were gonna leave me,” he rambled.

“Shhh, I’m sorry I wasn’t there, Kitten.

I wanted to be. I tried to be,” I mumble into his hair.

Lifting his head from where it rested on my chest, I push his curls back, kissing his forehead.

“We’ll figure it out. Together. I love you so much,” I continue, speaking softly as I continue to rock him.

When he was all cried out, he sat up and looked at me, his face scrunched in confusion as he asks, “So, you’re not mad at me? You don’t hate me for losing West Point?”

Swiping a tear away with my thumb, I lean in, placing a chaste kiss on his chapped lips.

Pulling back to look at him, I say, “Oh, Kitten, I’m absolutely livid with you right now.

But not for the reason you think. I’m livid because you hid from me instead of comin’ to me.

Not because you failed me. You can never fail me as long as you talk to me. Okay?”

Kai hiccuped as a shy smile formed, his cheeks pink with embarrassment. “‘M sorry Khayos. So sorry. I just didn’t know what to do. Our plan is ruined. I’m not sleepin’, work sucks and I can’t afford a real lawyer to fight this. Then with the accident. There’s just so much,” he blurts out in a rush.

Seeing that he’s getting worked up again, I kiss him to stop his rushing thoughts. He freezes when our lips touch, looking at me with curiosity when I sit back, “First and foremost Kitten, our plan is not ruined, it’s just being altered. Second, quit the fuckin’ job,” I tell him.

His mouth drops open to interject and I put a finger to his lips to stop him, “My turn to talk, your turn to listen, okay?” I ask, sliding my hand to grab his chin so he has to look at me.

He nods along as I continue talking. “A lawyer isn’t needed.

I have someone in here workin’ on gettin’ me out.

It’s gonna take some time so I need you, not money, to keep me sane while this plays out.

I need you to sleep and take care of yourself so I can do what I need to do in here to get back to you. Ponyatno?”

He scrunches his nose, groaning as he says, “Not you too! Always with the Russian-speak. I get enough of that from Zak.” Rolling his eyes to the sky, he glances back at me and with a sigh, he concedes, “Yeah, I understand.”

I laugh at how adorable he looks right now. He moves to sit beside me and as he lifts his arm I lean into his side, feeling the tension leave me as his arm comes around my shoulders. “Oh yeah, speakin’ of Zak. Can you be nicer to him?” I mutter.

“You heard about this morning?” he asks, thumping his head against the fence, causing it to rattle behind us.

Cocking an eyebrow at him, I say, “Kitten, ya do know he’s trained as a very lethal weapon, right? He’s been there for us. Now, be nice. No more yellin’ at him. And no more throwin’ water bottles at him. Okay?”

I smile as he presses a kiss to the top of my head, “Alright, I’ll try, but no promises,” he says. We sit for a few more minutes, enjoying being outside together. I missed him but, we need to move to the table, I still have to tell him about Mack.

Tapping his knee, I shift and stand, holding my hand out to pull him up with me. As we settle back at the table he reaches out and grabs my hand, “Dax? Are we okay?” he asks, caution and hope filling his tone.

“Are you gonna start bein’ the boyfriend I need by me to get through all this and stop all this dumb shit?” I ask, looking him in the eye.

With a sheepish grin, he nods, “Yeah, I’ll stop pushin’ you away. We’ll talk more. And, I’ll send better letters if you start sendin’ me drawings again?”

“I think I can work with that. Now, I need you to listen to me. There’s a reason you’re quittin’ the job,” I start, swallowing thickly, knowing I have to destroy this calm bubble around us.

“I’m not agreein’ to quit, Baby. I need to be doin’ something besides sittin’ around all the time esp….” He starts, but I put my hand up to stop him.

“Zak has a plan for that, but you’re not safe there,” I begin again.

Kai’s eyes go wide, “What do you mean?”

I close my eyes taking a deep breath, I open them to green eyes boring into mine. “Mack is the one that ran you down,” I say seriously.

Kai falls back, leaning heavily in chair and looks at me with disbelief as he asks, “Are you sure?”

“The information is credible. But don’t worry, it’s bein’ handled.

So, effective immediately, you’re done workin’ there.

Zak’ll fill you in on the ride home. He’s inside gettin’ his orders now,” I explain, turning my head as I hear the door opening and watch as Zak steps out the door and walks towards us and pulls up a chair.

“Dude, are you like Beetlejuice or something?” I ask, shaking my head in disbelief at him showing up just as I say his name.

“Beetlejuice? I don’t get,” Zak says, looking between the two of us, confused.

Kai laughs and explains, “Say his name three times and he appears. It’s a cult classic movie. And an old one at that.”

“No time for movies, always work needs doing. Now, enough of this Beetlejuice. You two fix mess?” Zak asks, brushing off the reference.

I look at Kai who smiles at me, “Yeah, we’re good,” I say, squeezing Kai’s hand. I can’t help but let my own smile slip through when he squeezes back.

“Good, we go now. I have things to set up. You already quit job. Can’t have you sitting around, thinking. This no good for you. You think stupid things,” Zak continues.

Kai

“What do you mean I quit my job? When did that happen? How?” I ask looking between the two of them. “I never agreed to this. I need to think about all this. No one gets to decide for me,” I say, getting louder with every word.

Zak rolls his eyes, “Calm down, Ubiytsa. Lower voice. I did this morning after talking to Otets last night. I fill you in later. Just know you safe and I intend it stay that way.”

I look to Dax for guidance, he nods and I sigh with a shrug as I think, ‘I have no clue what’s goin’ on, but I guess this is what’s happenin’.’

Zak waves his hand between us, “Tell him goodbye, then we go. You be back Saturday,” he says, turning and going back inside.

‘I hate this part. It never gets easier,’ I think as we stand. Dax reaches out and brushes the curls out of my eyes, I lean in and kiss his forehead. He tilts his head up palming my face as he pops up on his tiptoes, our lips meet.

As we break the kiss, I hear, “Milyy, I love you. I’ll call you later.”

“I love you too, Baby. I’ll be waitin’ for you to call.

See ya soon,” I say as we hug, sinking into the feeling of being in each other's arms. Sliding my hand down his arm, I thread our fingers together again for just a moment as we pull out of the hug.

Turning towards the door, I look back at him and he winks, tilting his chin towards the door telling me to go.

The walk back to the car is quiet. With the first few drags of the cigarette I try to wrap my head around everything.

‘If what they’re sayin’ is true, I should probably quit that job anyway.

Dax wouldn't tell me if he wasn’t sure. I guess I could look into school.

Not sure what for, but I can at least try to do somethin’,’ I think as I fidget with a loose thread at the bottom of my shirt.

Zak leaves me to my silence for a bit before he speaks, breaking my chain of thought, “Can you answer phone and write down information?”
