Chapter Thirty-Five

Hayes

T onight is the night I put an end to this madness.

The rightful King of The Underworld will be known and whoever stands in my way will no longer live.

I will burn this whole fucking world down to make sure Olivia is safe and by my side. I will go toe-to-toe with Lucifer himself if I must. No demon scares me more than losing her.

She might be the enemy’s daughter, but she will be my Queen. My mother would be proud of her taking over the roles she once held. Olivia will be an asset to those women in the Hope House.

“She knows the plan,” I tell Alan while I finish my coffee at the kitchen bar. “By now, she should have him eating out of the palm of her hand. His trust in her should be returning and it is only a matter of time before she gets the revenge she deserves.”

M Y ROSE TATTOO GUIDES my white button up as I get ready for the night.

I tuck my shirt into my black dress pants and zip them up. Glancing at the time on my phone, it’s about an hour before our arrival at 7:45. The auction starts at 8 pm and Olivia should have told her father that we would be arriving right at the time it starts. Our plan is to sneak in before he beefs up security and become undetected.

I grab my black mask off the bathroom counter. This mask covers my entire face and will make it harder for me to be recognized.

A knock sounds on my bedroom door. “Come in.”

“Sir,” Alan says, walking through the door frame, “I have debriefed my men. They all know what to do.”

“Good. Make sure they know Olivia is the priority to keep safe, Alan, not me.”

“But sir . . .”

I turn to face him quickly. “Don’t you dare defy me. Protect her. Get her out of there if things go south. I am nothing if something happens to her. Protect her at all costs. Do you understand me?”

He nods. “Yes sir.”

“Good.” I place my hand on his shoulder. “In case I don’t get the chance to tell you again, thank you for your loyalty. I know it hurt you when father died. You did all you could to protect him. Thank you for never leaving my side and protecting me too.”

Alan looks shocked at my words. “Sir, it has been the highest honor protecting the Ricci family.”

We stand in silence for a few moments before I walk back to my bathroom to grab my coat and shoes.

Walking to my safe, I type in the code and swing the door open after the green light flashes. Grabbing two pistols, I place one in my waistband and the other on my ankle strap.

Before shutting the door, a photo of my father grabs my attention from the inside of the safe and I nod. “Father, give me strength.”

Olivia is not the only one getting her revenge tonight.
