Chapter 47

Squealing Pigs

Rico

Two months later …

Today is the day. I will finally wipe these two bastards from the face of the earth. Emory has told me that Mason was trying to help Oni, but we’re beyond that.

Oni and I don’t give a fuck. He lured Oni into Lorcan’s clutches. He didn’t come to me right away with Oni’s location. Losing our baby was as much on him as it was on Lorcan.

If he wants forgiveness for that, he’s barking up the wrong tree. I’m glad Oni hasn’t tried to save him. He doesn’t deserve her forgiveness or mine.

“They’re bringing them up,” Mario says as Oni and I wait on top of this skyscraper for them.

I’ve already spent a day with Lorcan after Ed and Mario collected the brothers and brought them to me. I beat the shit out of the bastard for twelve hours straight. If you ask me, Alyissa got it easy.

My thoughts are confirmed as Ed shoves Lorcan onto the rooftop. Ed wanted to go collect them from the shithole apartment in Queens where they’ve been hiding right on the outskirts of Brooklyn.

He took a bullet for me and Oni, so I was happy to grant his wish. When he asked again to bring them here, I shrugged and agreed once more. I see a few new bruises on Lorcan and Mason is holding his ribs.

I guess my cousin didn’t like the job I did. I snort as I look Lorcan’s fucked-up face over. One of his eyes is shut and he’s sporting a permanent smile from my hot blade.

He’s lucky I didn’t feed him his dick. I had planned to, but Mario stopped me before I did, claiming the asshole would bleed out before tonight. I promised Oni we would do this together, so I stopped before it was too late.

That’s the only mercy these motherfuckers will get from me. I have no more patience for this or them. Finding out Lorcan’s supposed plan only pissed me off more.

Mario and Ed lead the brothers to the edge of the roof and stand them there as if lining them up for the firing squad. I pull my gun and check it. Oni does the same.

“What’s she doing here?” Lorcan snarls as he looks at Oni with his good eye.

“I made your father a promise. I’m going to make good on my word,” Oni says like she’s talking about the weather.

“Oh yeah, what was the promise?”

“I told him when I found you two, I would make sure you both die screaming like he did.”

“So it’s true? You had something to do with his death?” Mason says as if he’s shocked.

“Oh no, Mason. I didn’t have something to do with it; I did it. He squealed like the pig he was.” Oni tilts her head to the side.

“Just like your brother here. You know, I might have spared you if my baby hadn’t been taken from me. However, you’re going to scream for me too.”

Mason looks at Oni with wide eyes. I laugh. I guess he doesn’t see the best friend he used to know.

Lorcan scoffs. “I’d like to see that.”

“Is that right?” Oni says and nods toward me.

“Yeah, bitch. I wish you would—”

He doesn’t get to finish the words as Oni plants her foot in his chest and kicks him over the edge. At the same time, I kick Mason over with his brother.

Just as promised, they both scream as their bodies fall sixty stories to the ground. Oni walks into my side and I wrap an arm around her.

This didn’t bring our baby back, which leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but my chest loosens just a bit. If nothing else, it feels like I can finally forgive my uncle. What he did brought this version of Oni to me.

The version that I need by my side. I will never regret that. I turn to face her and squeeze my arms around her.

“I have to tell you something,” she says as she looks up into my eyes.

“What’s up, gorgeous?”

“I’m pregnant.”
