Chapter Six

Sadie

I am standing off to one side of the stage.

I have no idea what I’ve gotten myself into, but luckily Stacy is staying with me back here, so I don’t get tempted to kill Angela.

She’s in a black sequin dress that barely comes past her ass.

She just noticed me about five minutes ago and has not taken her eyes off of me.

“Everyone ready?” A man comes over and asks. “We are changing the order a bit. Ms. Graves, you’ll be going last. Ms. White, you’ll go right before her.”

“Aw. You’ll get a front-row seat to him bidding on me,” Angela turns to me and says. “He doesn’t even know you’re here.”

“You’re an insufferable cunt, you know that?” I ask with a deadpan expression. “And yet he chose me over and over and over. What makes you think he’s going to choose you this time?”

I just smile and shake my head at her. It doesn’t stop that intrusive thought from sneaking its way into my head.

What if he does bid on her? Even if he’s not intending to win, does that still count as cheating even if we’re not dating?

Obviously, we are heading in that direction, so would that be a betrayal?

We all walk out onto the stage, and I spot the guys, as well as our entire friend group.

Their faces light up when they see me. Angela is directly beside me, but they haven’t taken their eyes off me for long enough to see her.

All three of them have this look in their eyes that tells me that I am about to learn a whole bunch about my best friends.

I am one of ten women. There are four men here as well.

Bids are averaging around five thousand dollars or so.

An older lady bid fifty thousand on one of the men.

Otherwise, the bids seem pretty reasonable.

The guys haven’t taken their eyes off of me, but they all realize who else is here when her name is called out.

“Next, we have Ms. Angela White,” the man says. “We’ll start the bid at one hundred.”

“Here,” I hear a familiar voice say. I scan the faces to see who it is. When I see him, I know right away it was him. Alex. The man taking the bids goes back and forth with Alex and an old man for a while before Alex gives up.

“Going once… Going twice… Gone for $65,000,” the man says. Angela smirks at me, but I can see how disappointed she is that Lance never took his eyes off mine. “Last for the evening, we have Ms. Sadie Graves. We’ll start off at $100.”

“Here,” Lance says without hesitation

“$150,” Alex says.

“$1000,” Mason chimes in. The man looks to Lance, and he nods once.

“We are bidding together,” Lance says simply.

“$5,000,” Jake says, and I laugh when Lance glares at him.

“Hell, $6,000,” Todd adds.

“10,” Dean barks.

“25,” Alex says with a smirk.

“50,” Lance says.

“Do you know these people?” the man murmurs to me.

“Yeah,” I say quietly. The guys are going back and forth with Alex, while our friends are just pushing the price up for the hell of it.

“$100,000,” Alex says. He is on his feet now, but the guys are relaxed in their chairs. They say nothing. They just stare at me with cute little smirks painted on their faces.

“Going once…”

Silence. I trust them.

“Going twice…”

Silence. I trust them.

“Gon…”

“$500,000,” Lance says coolly, and my mouth falls open in surprise. I hardly hear the man beside me restart the countdown.

“Gone…” The man says. Lance stands and approaches the edge of the stage.

I can’t help but grin at my boys. They are all gathered at the edge of the stage, but it’s Lance who wraps his arms around my hips and picks me up.

As he lets me drop, his lips crash against mine before my feet touch the ground.

His hands cup my face before he pulls away to look at me.

Right now, no one else in this room exists.

It’s just me and my men finally taking that step that we’ve all been dying to take.

We’ve skated the line of our friendship that borders something more intimate for years.

This is our opportunity to make all of those unspoken dreams and fantasies come true.

“No one gets to own you but us, Little Demon,” Lance murmurs against my lips.

“You belong to us. Every fucking inch of your sweet little unfucked body is ours, Sadie Graves.” He whispers the words against my lips.

I don’t know the words to tell him how much I need them, so I just wrap my arms around him in a hug.

“Sit with Todd and Stacy. Don’t hit Angela, please,” Lance says.

“Where are you going?” I ask as we move toward the table.

“To pay for you, of course,” he winks. “And I’m booking a room.”

“For?” I ask.

“You ask a lot of questions, Little Demon,” Mason says as he kisses the top of my shoulder. “Sit.”

I do as he says, and all three of them disappear. “Well then,” Jake laughs.

“You look… I don’t even know how to describe it,” Billy says.

“Our little Sadie is realizing what her much larger best friends are about to do to her,” Ben grins.

“I will hurt you, Ben,” I warn.

“Oh, leave her alone,” Stacy says. “Just like… Do some stretches first.”

“God almighty, guys,” I laugh. “Let’s just give me a panic attack. That’ll be nice and attractive.”

“You look incredible, by the way,” Todd says.

“Thank you. Did they get mad at you?”

“Not mad, they were just annoyed that I was forcing them into something, but they would spend forever being hesitant, thinking they were going to hurt you.”

“Well, the look on their…”

“You dumb whore,” Angela practically shouts. I cut my eyes over to her before looking back at Todd, ignoring her.

“The look on their face when they saw me was amazing,” I finish saying, as if this bitch didn’t just yell at me in front of a room full of people.

“You act like this innocent little church girl, but you are a conniving little slut,” she snaps. She has a drink in her hand, and I am picturing her throwing it on me. If this bitch throws wine in my face, I’m going to go to jail tonight.

“Angela, I would be happy to talk to you, but I am not going to talk to you when you are having a temper tantrum,” I say calmly. “Take a deep breath and talk to me like a big girl, or wait until we leave and you can yell your little lungs out for all I care.”

“You’ll regret this,” she says, seething.

“Regret what, Angela? Are we talking in code here, or can you be a bit more specific for me?”

“Lance. You fucking took him,” she shouts. I chuckle and scoot my chair back to stand up.

“Sadie,” Todd warns. He and Jake stand up with me, not trusting that I won’t break her neck.

“I took him?” I ask. “Baby, he was never yours. He was always mine, and that’s not changing anytime soon. You will always be known as that one whore he fucked, who got a bit too attached to him.”

“I will fucking ruin you, bitch,” she growls as she steps closer to me. I smile at her because this shit is hilarious. There is nothing she can do that we can’t fix.

“You know… It’s interesting that Alex bid on you,” I say. “You two would make the perfect little white trash couple.”

“You bi….” She raises her arm to throw the wine on me, but Stacy grabs her wrist. “Ow. That hurts.” Angela cries out when Stacy twists her arm behind her back, making her drop the wine.

“Get the fuck out,” Stacy says in a scarily calm tone of voice. “Come near her again, and I will personally break your fucking arms. Understand?”

“Yes,” Angela says through gritted teeth.

“Good,” Stacy says as she shoves her toward Alex.

“Hey,” Lance says as he turns my face and kisses me. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah,” I smile up at him. “She’s just learning her place in the world.”

“You think you can handle them?” she laughs. “A little virgin like you?”

“It’s funny, Angela… Even Alex was ready to pick me over you… And he’s a piece of shit,” I say, and Lance chuckles. “Just because you spread your legs for everyone doesn’t make you more or less capable of handling something. But… How am I whore and a virgin?”

“Watch your back, bitch,” she says. “You never know who might be watching.”

“I’m sorry. Did you just threaten me?” I ask. I go to step forward, but Lance tightens his grip on my waist.

“Hey. Hey. She’s not worth it,” Dean says. “They are cleaning our room. We can relax soon.”

“Skipping dinner, are we?” Jake asks.

“Mmm. Straight to dessert,” Dean says with a conniving smile that makes heat rush to my cheeks.

“Room is ready,” Lance says, “Why are you still here, Angela?”

“I just…” she starts to say.

“I’m only going to say this one more time,” Lance says. “I don’t want you. You were something I used to pass the time, and I made that very well known. I’d appreciate it if you left Sadie alone. Obsessiveness isn’t a good look on you.”

“What did he say?” Mason says when she goes to talk, she frowns. I notice Alex glaring at me, and I turn into Lance. He wraps his arm around me before seeing what I see.

“Let’s go,” Lance says to the others, keeping his eyes on Alex.

Thankfully, everyone is mingling and talking, so not too much attention has been drawn to us.

We walk out of the main room, and I yelp when Alex grabs my arm and pulls me away from Lance.

“Let go of me,” I yell loud enough that almost everyone turns and looks at me.

I didn’t mean to be so loud about it, but the look on his face freaked me out, and I panicked.

Alex releases his death grip on my arm right as Mason grabs me. Dean grabs him by the front of his shirt and slams him against the wall. “If you ever put your hands on her again, I will break your fucking neck. Got it, bitch?” Dean says with a grave tone.

“This isn’t over,” Alex says before he grabs Angela’s hand and pulls her down the hall away from us.

“I’m sorry,” I say quietly. Mason lifts my chin and scowls at me.

“Do not apologize for something that is not your fault, Sadie,” he says. I open my mouth to apologize again, but stop and smile when he nearly growls at me. “Don’t you do it.”

“Well, we are going to redeem our date now,” Lance says.

“Wait, are you really going to make me go sit in a restaurant?” I ask. “I am in a formal dress.”
