B y the time we have eaten and showered, I’m utterly exhausted. Nia has already fallen asleep on the sofa in the main area, completely unbothered by the bikers who have returned and are milling around her. Even in a place like this, she seems comfortable. That tells me a lot about her upbringing. Before I climb into my bed, I try and do some research on the cult she has told me about, but all that comes up are articles about a place where you can live in a community, grow your own food, and be a family.
They’re tricking the entire world.
But don’t they all?
I call Jace before I go to sleep, wanting to make sure he is okay and to tell him I’m safe. He is relieved, so happy to hear from me, and tells me that he has a few stitches and a sore head but is otherwise okay. The club made him promise not to go to the police, and he trusted them to do the right thing, so I think he was relieved to hear from me.
We talk a little about what happened, but I tell him I’ll let him know more when it is safe to do so. Then, I hang up the phone and fall asleep almost immediately, my body exhausted. It has been a long few days, and there were moments during them, that I honestly thought we might not get out of that situation.
I’m so glad we did.
I’m woken to a warm, hard body curling up against mine. At first, I’m certain it’s a dream, but when I take in that familiar scent, I know that it is very real. Wolfe is tucked up against me, his big body engulfing mine, and my heart skips a beat. Rolling towards him, I find his mouth, not even daring to ask why he’s here or how everything went.
I’m just so damned grateful in this moment that he’s alive.
It’s all I could ask for.
The rest of it is history, as far as I’m concerned.
He kisses me back with a deep intensity that has my body coming to life. Kissing Wolfe is like stepping into a storm, where everything around you is spinning, intense, and thrilling. His lips are firm yet soft, moving with a confidence that sends shivers all over my body.
The taste of him is exhilarating, a mix of whiskey and something distinctively him, a flavor that lingers and makes me crave more. God, I want so much more. His hands are possessive, one cupping my chin, the other pulling me closer, as if he can't get enough. The heat of his body against mine is overwhelming, and it lights a fire in my core that I need put out, immediately.
The only way to do that is to have him inside me.
Deep. Hard. Intense.
His breath against my skin is warm and ragged, mingling with mine. As his tongue teases mine, a low growl escapes him, vibrating through me, making my body tense with anticipation. It's a kiss that demands everything, a perfect match to him. My obsession with him is scary. He knows how much I want him, and I do nothing to hide that fact.
His hands slide down my body, tracing the curves of my waist, the dip of my hips, before settling on the small of my back. He pulls me closer, our bodies align perfectly, the heat of him warms me in such a deep, comforting way. I trace my fingers over his skin, every hard ridge and warm hollow.
As the kiss deepens, his tongue teases mine, a slow, sensual exploration that sends a thrill of pleasure coursing through me. I melt into him, letting my hands slide up and into his hair, where I run them through the thick, dark locks. I then trace them down, over his jaw, cupping his face and bringing him even closer, if that’s at all possible.
Wolfe breaks the kiss, his lips trailing a path down my neck, across my collarbone, each touch a promise that marks me as his. I gasp, my head falling back, giving him access to the sensitive skin of my throat. He takes advantage, nipping and biting against my flesh, causing an intense burst of pleasure that has my pussy clenching in desperate need.
His fingers move down, tucking beneath the waistband of my shorts and finding my wet heat. He growls with appreciation, as one finger slips inside me, followed by another. I buck against his hand, moaning his name. I don’t want to wait. I want him inside me, and I need it to happen now.
“Please,” I mewl against his throat. “Fuck me, Wolfe.”
A rumble of satisfaction leaves his lips, and he obliges. Moving his big body onto mine, I spread my legs to accommodate him, before finding his lips once more. Then, he pushes inside me, his cock hard and thick, stretching me. My mouth opens with a gasp as my body adjusts to his size, and then, slowly, he begins fucking me.
The sensation is electrifying, a perfect blend of pleasure and connection that binds us together in a way I haven’t felt with another person in all my life. He moves within me, each thrust so deep, so intense, it’s like he’s taking over my body. Like he’s claiming to the world that he owns me. That I belong to him.
Our bodies move together as if we were made for each other, or maybe it’s my brain’s delusional wish. I cling to him, my nails digging into his back, my body arching to meet him, desperate for more, for everything he has to give. His name leaves my lips multiple times, and my moans only grow louder as he brings me closer to the edge.
His rasp of pleasure tells me he’s close, and the very thought of that is enough to send me over the edge. I cry out, my entire body exploding with an orgasm that is soul deep. I tremble and shake around him, my eyes fluttering closed as wave after wave of pleasure cascades through me.
Wolfe is close behind, his rumble low and throaty as his body jerks and he finds his release inside me, clutching me close, his cock so deep I can feel every single pulse as he relishes in his own pleasure. His skin is slicked with sweat, and his body is hard against mine. I want to keep him here forever.
I never want this moment to end.
I FALL ASLEEP AGAIN , unable to keep my eyes open. Being tucked into Wolfe’s arms, where it’s warm and safe, is enough to lull me into a deep, perfect sleep. I stay there until morning, unmoving, but when I wake, I see he’s gone. A flash of disappointment rushes through me, and for a moment, I wonder if it was all a dream.
The ache between my legs tells me it wasn’t.
He was here and everything I felt was real.
Getting out of bed, my body aches. I haven’t eaten properly in days, and I certainly haven’t had enough water. Everything inside me hurts and I’m desperate for another shower to ease my aching muscles. Taking a towel and some clothes, I head to the shower in Wolfe’s room, hoping it’s okay to use it.
He isn’t there when I get inside, so I go in, undressing and standing under the hot water for long, long minutes. Closing my eyes, I tip my head back and just let my body relax. I really don’t want to get out, but I have to face the day ahead. There are so many unanswered questions about what happened, and what we need to do now.
Nia can’t stay missing forever. Eventually, she has to let the world know she is okay. I only hope that we can keep her here, away from the grips of her family, so she can have the life she deserves. Nia is a kind soul, deep and beautiful. I couldn’t live with myself if she was sent back to a place where they treated her so poorly.
Getting out of the shower, I dress and head out to the main area where everyone is already standing around, no doubt waiting to find out what we do next. Shuffling through the crowd, I smile at Kael and Zane as I pass. They offer me a grin in return, which eases something inside me just a little.
Wolfe is standing beside Nia and Talon, the three of them talking about something.
When he notices me, his eyes zero in, causing me to stop walking and catch my breath. The look on his face is so primal, so hungry, I’m unable to focus on anything else, including putting one foot in front of the other. I lick my lips, unable to help it, and force my body to start moving again.
By the time I reach them, my body is thrumming with need and my heart is going a million miles a minute. God, Wolfe does something to me, and after last night, that has only intensified. As I hold his gaze, I can’t help but think about all the wicked things he could be doing to me right now.
Focus, Mera.
“Mera,” Nia steps forward, wrapping her arms around me. “How did you sleep?”
It’s nice to know that out of this horrible situation, I have found a friend.
That’s something I’m truly grateful for.
I glance at Wolfe again, before offering a small cheeky smile. “I slept amazingly, thank you. How are you?”
Smiling, Nia steps back and rubs her arms with her hands. “I’m okay. We were just discussing the next step. I was telling Wolfe and Talon about my family...”
It warms me that she trusts them.
She deserves that.
“What is the plan?” I ask, trying to keep my eyes off Wolfe because if I continue staring at him, I might just melt into a puddle.
“We’re going to make sure everyone knows Nia is safe and well, and that you were the one who rescued her. For everyone’s sake, the world needs to know what happened. We have agreed to let her stay here because her family is going to throw down when they find out she won’t go home,” Wolfe explains.
God, why are his eyes on my lips.
I shiver.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to tell everyone what happened?” I question.
Wolfe nods. “You deserve your name to be cleared, and Caleb needs to be held accountable for his shit.”
“He’ll go to prison...”
Wolfe’s eyes flash. “If they catch him, he will. Gave him a good head start.”
“You helped him?”
I don’t ask it in an offended kind of way, but more in awe.
After everything, Wolfe still cares enough about the man he once called brother, to let him have a chance at freedom.
“Caleb knows if he ever shows his face here again, I’ll kill him myself. We have a deal.”
“He should be lucky to have someone like you,” I say, offering a truly genuine smile.
“He’s lucky he’s got a heartbeat,” Talon grunts. “If I had my way, that fucker would be six feet under.”
Oh my.
Nia’s eyes widen, and her cheeks grow pink.
Oh, I think Nia has a little crush on Talon.
I don’t blame her. If that man saved me, I would probably feel the same.
“What if he comes back?” Nia asks, nervously. “He has made it clear he wants revenge, so who is to say he won’t come up with a new plan.”
“Trust me,” Wolfe growls low. “He ain’t coming back.”
I don’t dare ask how he is so certain of that.
I just have to trust his word.
“Do we go to the police and tell them what happened?” I ask.
Wolfe nods. “You get the cop that likes you and you tell him everything. Once it hits the media, it will blow up and people in this town might start giving you a break.”
One can only dream.
“I guess we can only try.”
Wolfe nods, his eyes still caught on me.
I flush and look to Nia. “Do you need me to go get you some clothes or other items? I know you don’t want to go home, so it’s the least I can do.”
She nods gratefully. “Please. That would be so amazing.”
“I’ll take you,” Wolfe murmurs, walking over and guiding me away from Nia and Talon.
“You just want to get me on that bike,” I murmur, low.
“You have no idea,” he growls, his hand sliding down to the small of my back.
“Rook, we need to talk.”
If I could roll my eyes any harder...
Fucking Esmerelda.
Wolfe mutters a curse, turning just in time to see Esme storming towards us, her dark hair flying behind her, those eyes full of rage. I know it’s because he’s with me, and honestly, I’m done caring. After the last few days, her feelings mean little to me. I go to step away, not wanting the drama, but Wolfe takes my hand and pulls me to his side.
He’s choosing me.
He’s making sure we both know it.
My heart swells, and I hold his hand tightly as Esme stops in front of us. Her eyes scan the two of us and her face contorts with a rage that would scare most. Luckily, it does little to frighten me. I’m curious as to why she’s here, and I can feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating, as she takes a deep breath and blurts out, "Wolfe, I'm pregnant."
The words hang in the air, heavy and shocking. My heart skips a beat, and I glance at Wolfe, trying to gauge his reaction. His expression remains unreadable, but I can see the flicker of disbelief in his eyes. I hold my breath, not sure I’m really hearing this. Is Esme pregnant? No, that can’t be. It would ruin everything.
My heart sinks, and I keep my eyes on Wolfe, praying this is all a bad dream.
Wolfe releases my hand and crosses his arms, his voice calm but firm. "Prove it."
Esme hesitates, her bravado faltering for a moment and by her reaction alone, I know he has caught her off guard. She wasn’t expecting him to question her. "I... I don't have the test with me right now, but I swear—"
Wolfe cuts her off, his tone sharp. "I'm not stupid, Esme. You think you can just say something like that, and I'll believe you without proof? Prove it. Right now. I will send one of my men to get a test.”
Her eyes widen, and her head shakes a little before she stops it. She’s lying. I can see it written all over her face. I don’t know what happened between her and Wolfe when I was gone, but it’s clear that he must have ended things with her and she has come back, desperately trying to keep him.
Esme's face flushes with anger and embarrassment. "How dare you...”
“How dare I what?” Wolfe growls. “Demand to see it with my own eyes. You either go and get a test to prove it, or you get out of my compound and don’t come back.”
Her mouth opens and closes. She’s truly stunned. “You can’t do that...”
Wolfe's gaze is steady, unwavering. "I can and I will . If you can't prove it, then you're lying. Now, leave."
Esme's eyes dart between us, her desperation written across her face.
“Wolfe...” she tries.
“We’re done, Esme. If this is true, you will prove it. I’m giving you one minute to decide before I haul you out myself.”
“Fuck you,” she spits, “I can’t believe you’re picking that...bitch.”
“Leave.”
Her lips form a tight line, and she mutters a curse, before turning on her heel and storming out.
I’m certain it won’t be the last time we hear from Esme, but right now, nothing can take away from the fact that Wolfe just made it clear that I’m the one he wants.
For the first time, he put me first.
And nothing has ever felt so good.
