Epilogue #3
They stared. Arch moved closer. I waved my right arm.
“My phone fell to the floor, and when I reached for it, my arm was too short. I kind of... wished my arm was longer, and it was! But, what if it doesn’t go back?
” I poked at it with my left forefinger.
It didn’t feel any different than the rest of my body.
Oz flopped down to the mattress next to me. Arch came over and sat by my legs. They both peered at my arm. “Do you think you’re getting Jackson’s shapeshifting abilities? Like, as a bonding enhancement?” Arch gently took my arm in his hand and twisted it back and forth.
“Maybe? How would I know?” Okay, I can admit there was a slight edge of panic in my voice.
“Why don’t you try to change it back? Picture making it how it used to be.”
Right. Good idea. I closed my eyes. “I need my arm to be like it was before again.” I tried to visualize it matching the other arm.
The fizzy feeling came back, and I snapped my eyes open in time to see my arm shrinking.
I withheld the shriek that badly wanted to escape my throat.
My brain was not a fan of my body changing.
Oz tapped my wrist, then he held up one finger which still had a claw extended where normally a fingernail would be. He pointed at the claw with his other claw and gestured at my hand.
“Oh, okay.” It was worth a shot. I wouldn’t mind having claws.
I held up my left hand—might as well see if I could do stuff on both sides, right?
After glancing at Oz’s claw one more time, I pictured a claw of my own, but not quite as long as his, around two inches.
The fizzy feeling happened, this time only in my forefinger.
My fingernail grew two inches. “Huh. I was picturing more of a claw like Oz’s.
” I focused on making it go back, and it did.
Arch grunted. “You’re still basically human. Maybe you can only change into other versions of human shapes.”
I nodded, still staring at my fingernail. “Makes sense.” I grinned. “Tomorrow, when I’m not so tired, I’m gonna try changing my face to look like Misha Collins. Then I’ll video call Jackson to mess with them. Hah.”
Arch’s lips curled up in a smirk. “Is there any other part of your body you can change? Make longer, for instance?”
Oz’s eyes went wide, and he snatched my pillow up, holding it in front of himself like a shield.
I narrowed my eyes at Arch. “Excuse me? Are you complaining about the size of my dick?”
He cocked his head, affecting a puzzled expression. “Your dick? Who said anything about your dick? I was referring to your hair. You know, so you won’t have to wear the wig anymore?”
“Asshole!” When I launched myself at him, he caught me, rolling over and pinning me to the mattress.
Oz joined in, laying across my legs before mouthing my dick through my boxers.
“Oh, fuck!” I tried to buck my hips, but I couldn’t move.
“See?” Arch breathed into my ear. I shivered. “Your dick’s perfect just the way it is. Right, Oz?”
Oz nodded fervently as he lifted up enough to slide my boxers off.
“I guess,” I panted as Arch sat up and toyed with my nipples. “It’s a good thing we’re perfect for each other.”
I propped myself up on my elbows, and they both leaned in to meet me for a kiss. The love coming through our bond sent my magic swirling through me, and couldn’t help but share it with Oz and Arch. It flowed through our bond and into their bodies, where it made itself at home.
I broke off the kiss, my eyes pinging back and forth at my magic inside Oz and Arch. “Uh oh.”
“What? What’s uh oh?” Arch looked down at himself, and Oz made a startled noise as he did the same.
“I may have given you my magic?” Or at least a lot of it, because when I looked at myself I was down about two-thirds of my usual capacity.
Silence. Then Arch gritted out, “Like your healing and shapeshifting abilities?”
I held up my hands. “It’ll be fine, don’t worry.
Both Jackson and I have healed Wonders and magic carriers before, and all of them absorbed the magic without any aftereffects.
You already have magic. Mine’s just gonna hang out with yours for a while.
Uh, Inside you.” I gave them my most confident smile, trying to distract them from the way my magic was spreading through their limbs, well outside of the magical core we shared now that we were bonded. “Okay, where were we?”
Arch, however, didn’t get back to the kissing. He narrowed his eyes at me instead. “Tell me, Manny, these Wonders and magic carriers that you and Jackson healed? Were either of you bonded to those people at the time?”
Shit. “Uh, no?”
Arch exchanged a long look with Oz then gazed down at himself again. “Fuck.”
