Epilogue
Hope stuck out her tongue to capture some of the cold flakes falling softly from the sky.
When it snowed, she normally wouldn’t say the weather was perfect, but in this case, it was. It was exactly what Erin had wanted for their commitment ceremony. Since Mother Nature cooperated, no snowmakers were needed.
The day was turning into a real winter wonderland with the sun shining brightly, making undisturbed snow sparkle like glitter and diamonds.
The ground was covered enough so the sleigh, pulled by two of the ranch’s rescue horses, glided with ease as it delivered the stunning “bride” to her two waiting men, Dylan and Ford.
Their huge smiles and obvious love between the three of them made her heart swell. It also proved that, while polyamory was unorthodox, it could be successful. As with any relationship, it just took dedication and work.
Plus, a whole lot of love.
“You keep sticking out that tongue of yours like that and we might have to cut out of here early,” came the deep voice to her right.
She glanced over at Cam. “That would be rude.”
“Then we can just dip out and return before anyone realizes we were missing.”
Hope elbowed Cam’s ribs and smothered a giggle. “It sounds like you’re saying you have no staying power.”
“You should know.” He shot her a grin that warmed her all the way to her toes as he squeezed her blanket-covered knee.
She certainly did know. Very well. It all depended on who was doing what to whom. No matter if it was fast or slow, the men always made it great.
She had no complaints.
Nolan, sitting on her left, leaned in closer, whispering, “What do you think?”
She swept away a snowflake stuck to his beard. “About?”
“Having one of these of our very own.”
“Pledging our love and commitment in front of friends and family?” she asked in a whisper.
“I’m all for it. Though, can we not do it at the end of December?” Cam muttered.
“You can’t say today isn’t completely magical. It’s exactly what Erin wanted,” she told him.
“I’m hoping you prefer somewhere warm, with turquoise water, where our toes would be in the sand.”
“Ooooh. That does sound good,” Hope breathed. “As long as you two can tear yourselves away from work.”
“I’m sure we can make an exception,” Cam teased.
They quieted down as Dylan’s twin assisted Erin out of the sleigh at the end of the makeshift aisle. The guests stood as she made her way on Dayne’s arm to her waiting lovers. Their slow stroll was accompanied by string musicians playing Beautiful In White.
Hope swiped at the sting in her eyes. She really could picture herself in Erin’s place, wearing a gorgeous dress and committing herself forever to the men she loved.
Once the ceremony was over, the happy trio headed hand-in-hand back down the aisle to the waiting sleigh while the guests began to head over to the event hall for the reception.
The biggest issue with sitting outside on Christmas Eve was the cold temperature. Luckily, the hall had heat so they could all shed their blankets, gloves, and winter coats to show off their fancy outfits while they celebrated.
She couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of her men in their tuxes again. When she got a good look this morning before they had headed out, she’d lost her breath with how handsome and debonair they both looked.
It once again reminded her of how happy and lucky she was.
Nolan stood, put her blanket aside, and offered a hand to help her stand. Once she was on her feet, she realized Cam remained in his seat, not moving.
“What’s wrong?” Her eyebrows knitted together. “Do we need to use a blow torch to unfreeze your ass from the chair?”
Wearing a serious expression, he shook his head. When he stood, he faced her and Nolan. “I know it’s too early for us to consider having children, but...”
“But you really want some,” Hope finished for him.
“At least one,” he confirmed.
“Or two.” Nolan dropped his arm over her shoulders and bumped his hip into hers. “If you don’t want any, that’s fine, too. We’ll leave that decision up to you.”
“Well, that’s good,” she said dryly.
Nolan barked out a laugh. “I’m glad you’re onboard.”
“Well, it’s not like I have a choice at this point.”
Cam frowned. “What does that mean?”
With his brow furrowed, Nolan moved to stand next to him and stare at her.
She smiled.
And waited.
And waited some more.
She swore their mouths dropped open at the same time when it hit them.
Before they could say a word, she said, “I’m glad you two moved into my place.” While the Double D was beautiful, it wasn’t a place to raise a child.
“Holy shit,” Cam whispered.
“What? How?” Nolan shook his head and grimaced. “Not how, but how?”
“Apparently, we didn’t wait long enough for the birth control pills to kick in once we stopped using condoms. I know this wasn’t planned but—” The corner of her lips tipped up and she shrugged. “Merry Christmas?”
Nolan grabbed her by the waist, lifted her off the ground, and swung her in a circle with a loud whoop, almost taking out the nearby chairs.
“Damn right this is a merry Christmas! I’m going to be a dad!
” He gently set her back on her feet. “I mean, we’re going to be a dad.
” He shook his head. “Dads! Whatever! Best Christmas ever!”
“Remember you said that when you’re dealing with dirty diapers next Christmas,” Hope warned him.
Nolan shot Cam a glance. “Good thing Cam’s already an expert with them.”
“Oh, hell no,” Cam said with a fake scowl. “Don’t think you’re off the hook.” His expression smoothed out and he pulled both Nolan and Hope into his arms, squeezing them tight. “I guess we have something else to celebrate tonight.”
“We definitely do. Merry Christmas to us,” Nolan said, picking up a handful of fluffy snow and tossing it in the air like confetti.
“Merry Christmas to us,” Cam repeated, giving each of them a kiss. “I can’t wait to tell Laurel.”
“Not yet,” Hope said. “Let me get through this first trimester, then we can tell the world.”
“Can’t wait.”
Hope couldn’t, either.
Spending that Christmas with the two men she loved would be special.
The following year would be even better.
