Sara

I woke up cradled in Sofia’s arms. It felt nice.

Last night I’d got her off with my hand while I humped her thigh, bringing myself close enough that it only took a few strokes of her tongue to set me off, flying with pleasure.

We’d laid in each other’s arms for a while, talking quietly, until we realized that neither of us had ever tried the sixty-nine position. Turns out we both liked it, and we agreed to put it into our regular rotation.

The fact that we were talking about a ‘regular rotation’ should have freaked me out.

We’d had one date and we were already acting like we were serious about each other.

At times last night I’d felt like we were an old married couple, having private jokes and somehow instinctively knowing the best way to bring each other pleasure without having to ask.

One thing was for sure: I’d never felt so in sync with a lover before.

Well, two things were for sure: I’d never fallen so hard so fast before. I could already hear the shocked reactions of my friends when they heard about me and Sofia.

Sofia stirred behind me, and I rubbed my naked ass against her pelvis. I heard a soft chuckle before her hand moved from my waist to my breast. She gave me a squeeze and whispered in my ear, “Did someone wake up horny?”

“I’ve always been a big fan of morning sex,” I confided. “It’s a great way to start the day.”

“As you wish,” she intoned, her voice serious as she imitated our favorite movie, ‘The Princess Bride’.

Sofia shoved one leg between both of mine, opening me up to her questing hand. Soon her nimble little fingers were sliding between my slick folds, spreading my moisture before entering my channel. She pumped one finger in and out a few times before adding a second one.

“Sofia,” I gasped, grinding back against her.

It was almost too much, this sense of instant pleasure I felt the instant she touched me.

Sofia wrapped my hair around her other hand, fisting it close to the scalp to pull my head back. I moaned at the bite of pain. Her lips came to my neck, kissing down the side and over to my shoulder and back while her fingers continued to pump into me relentlessly.

I was normally a vanilla sex kind of girl, but I relished the bit of roughness Sofia brought. For the first time in my life I wondered what it would be like to try a little light spanking, or maybe be handcuffed to the bed. Maybe both. Ooh, or maybe nipple clamps?

Sofia’s teeth sank into the skin just above my shoulder blade right before she curled her fingers, finding my G spot and stroking it roughly. I wailed as the strongest orgasm of my life crashed through me, making me shake against her.

She kissed around the bite mark on my shoulder, her fingers gentling as my orgasm crested and I started to come back down. By the time Sofia pulled her fingers away, I was getting sleepy again. With a deep sigh of contentment, I rolled over and curled into her side, falling back asleep.

We spent the rest of the day together, then parted ways the next morning. We both had to work on Monday and Sofia needed to go back to her place to change clothes before she went to the office.

The next month flew by. We saw each other every night except for one, and that one night we were apart we both complained how difficult it was to sleep without the other one next to us. Strange thing given that we’d both mostly slept alone for years.

When we weren’t working, we fell into coupley activities: going to the market together, reading on the couch in front of the fireplace, and having brunch at one of Seattle’s many restaurants on Sundays.

It was nice. By unspoken agreement we hadn’t introduced each other to our friends yet, wanting to keep things private while we defined the boundaries of our new relationship.

Everything seemed to be going well until the night Sofia came over, looking frazzled and sad, her eyes ringed with red as if she’d been crying.

I rushed to her side. “What’s wrong?”

“I have to go to Greece tomorrow.”

“What?”

“My theia died, my mama’s sister. She’s been living in my grandparents’ house in the village where they were all raised, and as the sole living relative, Mama needs to go settle the estate and figure out what to do with the house.”

“Is your dad going with her?” I asked.

“Yes, Bampas is going too, but just for the funeral. He can’t get off work for more than a couple of days. They’ve already organized the funeral for two days after we arrive.”

“Do you want me to come with you?”

She shook her head.

“I appreciate it, agapi mou, but that would create too much drama with my parents. I don’t want to upset Mama so soon after losing her sister.”

I stifled a sense of hurt. I knew it wasn’t her fault that her mother would have an issue with me – or any woman Sofia was with, I assumed – but my girlfriend’s casual denial of our relationship still hurt. A lot.

I took a deep breath and reminded myself that Sofia needed comfort right now, not a confrontation. I knew that she’d spent a lot of time with her theia when she’d lived in Greece for those two years, and they’d stayed in touch.

I pulled Sofia into a hug.

“I’m sorry about your theia,” I whispered into her hair. “I know you liked her a lot.”

“I did,” Sofia said, pulling me closer. “I wish she could have met you before she passed. She was always more accepting of me than my own parents. That’s why I’m going to Greece. Not for Mama, but for my theia.”

I tried not to think about how the last time Sofia went to Greece she was gone for two years and disappeared from my life. This situation was completely different, and we weren’t kids anymore, but that didn’t mean that there wasn’t a small part of me that worried about letting her go.

“How long will you be gone?”

“Only ten days. I don’t have a lot of vacation time.”

“Is there anything I can do?”

“Just be here when I get back.”

“That’s a promise. Oh, and Sofia?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you.”

I’d never said it before, not wanting to seem too clingy, but it felt important to tell Sofia how I felt before she got on a plane.

“I know you do, agapi mou, and I love you as well. Truly.”

I have to confess that after Sofia left, I had a little freakout. I wasn’t normally insecure, but our relationship was very new, and more intense than any I’d had as an adult. But most disconcerting was the memory of the last time Sofia had left me for Greece.

Logically I knew she was coming back. I knew we weren’t about to have another thirty year separation. I knew that her feelings for me were as strong as mine were for her. But logic flew out the window when I was laying alone in my bed, missing my girlfriend.

As if she knew I was thinking about her, my phone beeped with her ringtone just after one a.m. I practically sprained a muscle reaching for the phone.

Sofia: Hey there, sorry to text so late. I just wanted to let you know that I arrived safely.

Sara: How are you texting me? I thought you didn’t have international texting.

Sofia: People can text over Wi-Fi now, get with the times, old lady :-)

Sara: I forgot about that. How are you doing?

Sofia: I miss my girlfriend.

Sara: I miss you too. How was your flight?

Sofia: I was trapped between my parents in the middle seat on the plane on the world’s longest flight, and they were prying into my life, so I caved and told them all about you.

Sara: You did?

Sofia: Yeah, I realized that it didn’t feel right keeping such an important part of me private, even if my parents and I are not close. I hate being dishonest, even by omission.

Sara: How did they react?

Sofia: Bampas surprised me. He was totally chill. He said when I came out to him all those years ago, he’d had a feeling that you and I were closer than friends. He’d seen what he felt were longing looks between us.

Sara: LOL. Does he think I turned you gay or something?

Sofia: I think he did on some level. But he’s getting older now and while he’s not thrilled at my ‘life choices’ as he calls it, he said he just wants me to be happy. Even if that means I’m with a woman.

Sara: And your mother?

Sofia: Mama isn’t happy about things still. But she said if I have to be with a woman, she wishes I was with someone younger so we could at least give her a grandchild.

Sara: Tell her we’ll adopt a kitten when we move in together.

Sofia: We’re moving in together?

Sara: Yep, I don’t sleep well without you. I never want you to be far away from me again.

Sofia: Sounds like a plan.
