Chapter 16

Chapter sixteen

Rhys

Yes. Yes. YES!

Don’t tell Duncan but, I’m officially spooked. I wasn’t until now. Well, I was only a little until now. I ventured down a dark hallway and in the room at the end I found something.

It’s a strand of leather with a few wooden beads strung on it. A necklace or a bracelet maybe. Totally old but not ancient.

"Duncan, you gotta come see this!"

I study the object while I wait to hear him coming. His ridiculous pants have been swishing for the last hour.

Nothing.

"Dunc?"

I ask as I start to retrace my steps to the first room. Maybe he went the wrong way.

A crack of lightning illuminates everything for a split second before it’s gone and I’m plunged into darkness as thunder shakes the ancient stones.

I half expected to hear Duncan screech at the sound. His nervousness is adorable.

"I found something." I call out as the rain starts. "Come and see it before we head back to the car."

When I reach the first room it’s empty.

Except.

Are those his pants?

I cross over and pick them up. Yes, these are his pants. Why did he take his pants off? And his shoes?

"Duncan?"

As I turn around an uneasy feeling rattles my bones.

Something isn’t right.

I set his pants back down in the pile and step outside.

There’s nothing blocking the rain here and my suede vest is essentially ruined. Not that I was planning to keep it anyway.

I glance towards the car and don’t see him. With my hands on my hips, truly stumped, starting to worry, I turn back towards the door.

Before I make it inside my body is slammed into the wall hard enough to feel the rough edge of the stone. Hands press into my shoulders but my arms are free so I drive my elbow back, connecting with my attacker’s soft center.

"Ooof." I hear as I spin and pin the large man against the wall.

Shaking the rain out of my eyes I focus on the man I am prepared to pummel. "Duncan?"

"Holy shit Charming!" He winces even as he smiles. His glasses dotting with rain, reminding me of the night we met.

"What the hell are you doing?" I haven’t relaxed my hold, my adrenaline won’t let me.

"Just trying to spook you a bit."

I don’t respond. I can’t. The fear, the uneasy feeling, the rush of fighting back fades away as I study his face.

The strong jaw, neatly groomed beard. The deep brown eyes with flecks of gold, drawing me in. The wavy hair, frizzing in the rain.

"Are you as turned on as I am?" I ask, breathless.

Our lungs mirror each other as we both breathe heavily.

"Yes."

My hands jump from his shoulders to his jaw as I hold him in place and every sensation becomes him. Tongues tangling, bodies pulsing. His hands on my hips, pulling me closer. The feel of his cock growing hard with nothing but his underwear on.

Lightning cracks again, thunder follows, and I break the kiss.

Duncan’s glazed eyes track mine. "Want to go make out in your car?"

"Yes."
