Chapter 51

CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

THEA

I rush from the room as fast as my feet will carry me in these ridiculous heels; what the hell was I thinking wearing them anyway?

I know what I was thinking; I was hoping that if I could look elegant in something I liked, my mother and father might actually approve of me.

Tears fall down my face, one after the other, and I swipe them away bitterly.

He slept with her.

My mother.

The man I love has slept with my mother, my flesh and blood.

I don’t know who I hate more, him or her.

My chest feels like it’s caving in, my breath comes out in rapid chokes, and I’m on the verge of falling in a heap on the floor.

I head for the exit and push out into the cool air, desperate to feel something other than suffocation and utter devastation.

My heart constricts as the thought of them fucking hits me out of nowhere.

Did they do it in my home? My bed? Did he sleep with her while sleeping with me all along?

Oh god.

Bile zips up my throat, clogging in the center as my world spins around me.

She touched him.

He touched her.

Did he call her Little Brat too?

Does he love her?

“Oh god.” I dry heave. “Please, no.”

I’m pregnant with his baby.

A strangled sound leaves me, and my legs buckle; I clutch the wall for support, but it’s no use, I fall to my knees.

My breaths come in short, sharp, and ragged, and my vision blurs as my chest tightens with each exhale.

I can’t breathe.

“Have you seen Thea?” His voice cuts through the air, and my heart jump-starts, and I quickly force myself to my feet. I don’t want him near me ever again.

The traffic moves in front of me, but I catch a glimpse of the bus stop over the road and head straight for it. I need to get as far away from him as possible. From all of them.

“Thea!” His voice closes in on me, but I run.

Darting past the car parked up at the verge, I head for the bus.

“Thea, wait!”

Headlights flash in front of my eyes; my vision blurs with the never-ending flow of tears, and my heart beats wildly.

“Leave me alone!” I scream back at him.

The sound of a horn grabs my attention, and I turn to see a black SUV driving erratically toward me.

“Thea!” he bellows again, and the SUV seems to be speeding up.

My mouth goes dry, and I make a rash decision. With one last glance at Massio, I head for the bus, for my future.
