Chapter 9
Chapter Nine

I slipped on my tall black boots and took one last look in the mirror before I met Ken at the bar. I couldn’t believe I let Tristan talk me into this. What the hell was I even doing? Stalking my boss? Who the hell was I? Sighing, I grabbed my purse and hailed a cab.
Stepping through the bar door, I cringed at the fully decorated place with Christmas lights, two trees, and cheesy garland hanging from the walls while Rockin Around the Christmas Tree played throughout the space.
“Just kill me now,” I mumbled as I looked around for Ken.
Suddenly, a man sitting at the bar turned around, and it was him. He held up his hand and waved me over. He was cute, but he wasn’t Jack Atlas.
“Sierra, you are one sexy woman.” He grinned, kissing my cheek.
“Thank you, Ken. It’s nice to meet you.” I smiled, sitting on the stool next to him.
“What are you having?” he asked.
“Gin and tonic, please.”
“One gin and tonic for the beautiful lady,” Ken told the bartender. “Doesn’t it look great in here? Really gets one in the holiday spirit.” He flashed a grin.
“Sure.” I picked up my drink the bartender set in front of me. “I take it you’re a holiday season kind of guy?”
“Yeah. I love the holidays.”
“And what is it that you love about it?”
“What is there that isn’t to love? The decorations, lights, beautiful Christmas trees, excellent meals, desserts, the hustle and bustle, and the music. I think the world is a nicer place during the holidays.”
“Really? And what world do you live in? Because in my world, everyone is mean and rude during the holiday season.”
“Nah. They’re just overwhelmed. I think the holidays bring people together.”
“Okay. If you say so.” I smiled, tipping the glass to my lips.
“I get the sense you don’t like the holidays,” he said.
“I have no clue why you would sense that.” I glanced at my watch. “We better get to the theater.”
After Ken paid for our drinks, we walked down the street and entered the theater doors. I looked around the lobby for Jack but didn’t see him.
“Shall we go find our seats?” Ken asked.
“We have some time still. How about a glass of wine?”
“What kind do you want?” he asked.
“Surprise me.” I smiled. “I’ll wait here for you.”
I stood, my eyes scanning the door as the theatergoers entered. I noticed a beautiful blonde enter, and Jack was right behind her. I looked away and pretended not to notice him. Ken walked over and handed me a glass of red wine.
“I hope this is okay,” he said.
“It’s fine. Thank you.” I smiled.
“Sierra?” I heard Jack’s voice from behind.
Turning around, I looked at him.
“Hey, Jack. What a coincidence.”
“So, you decided to come after all?” he asked.
“Yeah.”
“Who’s this?” Ken asked, staring at Jack.
“Jack Atlas, Sierra’s boss. And you are?”
“This is Ken.” I wrapped my arm around his and leaned into him.
“Jack.” The blonde woman walked over. “Who are these lovely people?”
“This is my assistant, Sierra, and her date, Ken. This is Wendy.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” My lips forced a smile.
“You as well. We better get to our seats, Jack.”
“As shall we,” Ken said.
“Enjoy the play.” Jack stared at me.
“You too.” I finished my wine.
I cringed when I saw him place his hand on Wendy’s back when they walked away.

I couldn’t believe she was here and with that douchebag. Something stirred inside me, and it was a feeling I didn’t like. I wanted to know who that guy was and how they met.
Their seats were one row in front of us. I watched her more than I watched the play. During intermission, we went to the lobby. Wendy needed to use the restroom, and I needed a drink. Walking up to the bar, I saw Sierra.
“Where’s your date?” I asked.
“Bathroom. Yours?”
“Same. Bourbon, neat,” I told the bartender.
“I thought you didn’t have a girlfriend.” Her eyes narrowed.
“She’s not my girlfriend. This is nothing more than a casual date.”
“Thank God, considering we slept together,” she spoke through gritted teeth.
I looked over her shoulder and saw Ken standing there.
“You’re sleeping with your boss?” he asked her.
“No.” Sierra’s brows furrowed.
“But I just heard you say that you slept together.”
“I guess the cat’s out of the bag.” I smiled. “I wasn’t sure how long we were going to be able to keep it a secret.”
She shot me a look.
“It’s been nice, Sierra, but I’m going to go,” Ken said.
“There you are.” Wendy walked over.
“Did you know that these two are sleeping together?” Ken asked Wendy.
“You’re sleeping with your assistant, Jack?”
“He sure is.” Sierra smiled.
“Wow. Okay. Damn you, Jack.”
“Wendy—” I said.
“Don’t.” She put her hand up.
“I’m leaving,” Ken said. “I’d be happy to buy you a drink somewhere,” he told Wendy.
“I think I’d like that. Lose my number, Jack.” She turned and headed toward the door.
“Lose mine too, Sierra. And to think I was starting to think maybe there was something special between us.”
“It never would have worked out! Your enthusiasm for the holidays is nauseating!” Sierra shouted. “Thanks a lot, Jack.”
“Don’t blame me. You’re the one who said it first. I just played along. Now, they both left, and it’s just us. Let’s go enjoy the rest of the play.”
After the play ended, we climbed into the back of my Escalade. When my driver pulled up to her building, I climbed out and extended my hand, helping her from the car.
“I’ll walk you up to your apartment,” I said.
“That’s okay. You don’t have to.”
“Maybe I want to see where you live.”
We took the elevator up. She flipped on the lights when we entered her apartment and kicked off her boots.
“This is it. All eight hundred square feet of it,” she said.
“It’s small but nice. You owe me,” I said, staring at her.
“Owe you what?” Her eyes narrowed.
“Sex. You ruined my night with Wendy.” I lifted her up and set her on the island.
“Jack—”
“Shh.” My lips brushed against hers. “I know you want my big cock inside you again.” My tongue traveled to her neck as I reached around and unzipped her dress, pushing the straps off her shoulders and exposing her naked breasts.
Her fingers reached down and undid my belt buckle before unbuttoning my pants. Our lips met again before my mouth explored her beautiful breasts. Placing my hand up her inner thigh, I pushed her panties to the side and dipped my fingers in, taking in the wetness that surrounded her.
“God, you feel so good,” I breathlessly spoke.
Bending down, I tasted what I’d missed. Moans erupted from her as my tongue explored her. Pulling a condom from my wallet, I pulled my pants all the way down, slipped it on, and thrust inside her, securing her with one arm. She felt just as amazing as last time. I thrust in and out, moans escaping our lips as we enjoyed each other. She came, causing my cock to spasm with joy. After a couple more thrusts, I halted and exploded inside her, grunting at the satisfaction that soared throughout my body. Pulling out, I removed the condom, pulled up my pants, and threw it in the trash can. Walking over, I lifted her off the island and set her down.
“I’ll see you on Monday.” I stroked her cheek and left her apartment.

I stood there and watched the door close. Walking over, I locked it and went to my bedroom. My body was on fire, and it wouldn’t cool down. I heard my phone ping from the living room. Grabbing it from my purse, I saw a text from Tristan.
“Are you still on your date with Ken? How was the play? Did you see Jack? I need the tea, girl.”
“No, I’m not on my date. The play was okay. Yes, I saw Jack, and he just left my apartment.”
Within seconds, my phone rang.
“Yes?” I answered.
“What do you mean Jack just left your apartment? You meant Ken, right?”
“No. I said something to Jack about us sleeping together, and Ken overheard. He got all pissy and told Wendy. She got all pissy and told Jack to lose her number, and then she and Ken left the theater together.
“Damn.” He laughed. “So, I take it Jack drove you home?”
“Yes, and we had sex.”
“Ugh, Sierra!”
“I’m going to bed, Tristan. I’ll see you on Monday.”
