Epilogue
I t took a month for the witches’ portal to reopen. An idyllic month in which the entire island was our playground. Then came the flurry of rebuilding work, dozens of laborers shuttling in and out under Marisol’s watchful eye. It didn’t take long before the resort was ready for guests to arrive.
Which made it the perfect time to introduce Varyx to my world. Let Marisol and the rest enjoy their grand reopening night—I’d had enough excitement for several lifetimes. And for my beloved dragon, the adventure of meeting my family would be more than enough.
“Enjoy your trip,” Marisol said with a laugh when we told her our plan. “It’s probably the first time anyone’s left the resort for a honeymoon! I’m just glad it’s safe for you to leave, Varyx. It is safe, isn’t it? No more Voidstorms, no need to worry about the sky tearing open?”
Beside me, Varyx laughed. “Correct. The Void Gate is sealed. Someone took an irrational risk to end that threat.”
Despite his grumbling, he pulled me close and kissed the top of my head. Our linked markings thrummed, and my face heated as I snuggled into him. Marisol rolled her eyes, her grin spreading.
“It’s been months, you two. Eventually, you’ll have to take your hands off one another.”
“Want to bet?” I giggled and squirmed into my dragon’s embrace. “I think we can keep this going a long time.”
Varyx growled, his body responding to mine as I brushed the front of his shorts.
The siren groaned good-naturedly as Varyx lifted me with one hand, setting down his margarita glass with the other.
It still shocked me to know that he was mine.
The idea seemed ludicrous. Tall, strong, and unbelievably hot, he was out of my league.
But here he was, throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me off to have his wicked way with me.
Rook’s tentacle snagged my glass out of my grip just in time to save it. “You could let the girl finish her drink, Mr. Dragon. You’ll have her to yourself soon enough.”
“No.” His voice was deep, dark, and hungry enough to make me blush. “I could not. Your drinks are excellent, Rook, but some things are more important.”
I shrugged helplessly, my face bright red as he carried me away. Despite the embarrassment, knew I was home. Not the resort, not even Varyx’s lair, but in the dragon’s arms. When Varyx held me, I felt safe and happy.
It even let me ignore the fact that, in a day or two, I’d be explaining my long absence to my family. And, even worse, introducing them to my boyfriend with wings .
Thank fuck that Varyx knows the best way to calm my nerves.
“Don’t worry, folks,” I said on our way out of the bar, grinning like a fool. “I’m exactly where I want to be.”
Thank you for reading Vacation with the Void Dragon!
