Seven hours later, I open my eyes.

I haven’t moved. And neither has Vameer.

His arms are still around me. His heart is still a steady beat beneath my ear. And his exhales are a comforting cloud against my hair.

Yawning, I lift my head to look at him.

It takes me a second to remember the conversation we were having as I fell asleep last night. But seeing him with his eyes closed and his expression soft in sleep, I have to focus on keeping my pulse from jumping.

I’m afraid I’ll sleep too long again.

I meant everything I said to him. Even if he never woke, I wouldn’t leave him.

Not ever.

It doesn’t matter that our brains barely know each other.

Our hearts do.

Slowly, I move my hands to his shoulders. And I start to pull myself up.

I never really gave my soul much thought.

It felt too… abstract.

Too much fairy tale, not enough truth.

But the weight in my chest. The heat in my blood. The pull to be closer to the man lying beneath me. It’s all truth.

He is my mate.

Vameer is the other half of my heartbeat.

And finding him has made me feel complete in a way I never knew possible.

My mouth pulls into a soft smile.

Vameer will wake for me.

I pull myself another inch higher. And I press my lips to his.
